At The Peddler's Steakhouse, we carefully age our rib-eyes and steaks and grill them to perfection over our charcoal grills. When only the best will do, visit The Peddler's Steakhouse. The Peddler's Steakhouse has long been recognized as the place for steak. Our beef is specially selected and our precise ageing adds the proper tenderness and texture. We naturally season our steaks and they're cooked over a glowing, Tennessee-hickory charcoal. Our great beef, all-natural seasonings, exact ageing, and real charcoal smoke make us THE steak place. Complement your choice of entree, including prime rib, seafood, and marinated chicken with our gourmet soup and salad bar. Enjoy a glass of red or white wine or your choice of domestic and premium beers. When you want a great meal in a family atmosphere, visit The Peddler's Steakhouse. Welcome!

Our group of eleven thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Peddler. We had reservations which even made our experience that much better. The salads were delicious. My filet was cooked to perfection and served with an out of this world perfectly cooked sweet potato. The crème brûlée was the sweet treat I chose to wrap up my fine dining experience and it was wonderful!
Service was on point. Parking was easy. Restrooms were spotless and stocked.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Megan B.NC, NC04Apr 13, 2024
The waitstaff was friendly, but they brought me the wrong cut of steak (twice) and overcooked. Just decided to let it go at that point.
My boyfriend's steak was overcooked as well and had very little flavor. The mozzarella sticks were burnt. Baked potato was good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 30, 2023
I've been to Peddler probably over 50 times in my life starting since the mid 1980's. Usually for special occasions a few times a year as a kid and in high school and beyond, and I've always enjoyed the unlimited salad bar and their steaks. It had been about 4 years since we had been back and it looked like the pandemic had changed their operations a bit--new interior and renovations (we found out in early 2022) and they no longer had self-service on the salad bar (now it's delivered to you after you fill out a salad order form), but still unlimited.
We had fantastic service by an attentive and super friendly waitress (I think her name was McKenzie), and our meal experience was superb from start to finish.
A few changes with the new system: no French onion soup anymore as part of the salad bar. And a few salad bar items are no longer there (I think caviar was one).
Regardless, the steaks are fresh and cut table side by the Peddler and the staff are great and constantly attentive to you during the meal. We've loved this place for decades and still love going back whenever we're in town.
----TL;DR----
PROS: tons of food and large portions, plenty of salad bar choices. Great quality steaks and cooked exactly as you like
CONS: parking could be tight but usually it's not a problem.
BOTTOM LINE: one of our favorite restaurants in Boone--great for a date night or family night for a nice dinner. We'll keep coming back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 18, 2023
Made a reservation for a Sunday night and were seated promptly upon arrival. Service was really great - our water glasses were always full, bread came out as soon as we settled in, and the servers were able to answer any questions we had. We filled out our salad orders on the little cards while we were waiting for the peddler to come around and take our entree orders.
Everyone in my party ordered the 10oz ribeye. It's definitely a nice experience to watch the steaks be cut for you at the table. I also opted to get two scallops and mushrooms as my side.
Food came out very quickly. We had just finished our salads when the entrees arrived. The side of mushrooms was a great portion and definitely enough to share. I was disappointed with the size of the scallops though. For $3.50 each these were the smallest scallops I've ever eaten. The flavor was pretty good, but I'd probably skip on these next time. The steak was good, but not great in my opinion. It was cooked well, but there were definitely some tough bits that were difficult to chew and it could of had more flavor.
Overall it was a pretty good experience and the service was great! If you're looking for a spot for a nice and efficient dinner this is your place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 6, 2023Updated review
I really enjoyed my recent visit to the peddler. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and both the béarnaise sauce and the crab cake were flavorful. The asparagus had a nice crunch to add to the dish and I was very happy that I chose the 'Oscar Style'. The mashed potatoes were a good blend of soft and creamy while still having potato chunks which I like.
We went early in the evening and it wasn't very busy. Our service was extremely quick and we were in and out for a dinner for 3 within an hour. All staff were friendly and the atmosphere was less chaotic than in my last review.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 24, 2022Previous reviewFood and value was 5/5 but gave 4 stars due to atmosphere. Would recommend overall.
Had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is tiny and tables were packed in. We were almost touching the people sitting next to us on either side. The restaurant was loud, probably because people are sitting so close together.
We ordered 2 NY strip steaks, which were FANTASTIC. Cooked to perfect medium rare and seasoned well. I saw reviews complaining about price, but I thought for the size and quality, the price was right. Especially compared to other steak houses I have been to. We also got the toll house pie for dessert and OMG!! It was so rich and delicious, plenty for 2-3 people to split.
The set up is very confusing. There is one host, and then someone else seats you at your table. The waitress only assists with drinks, salad, and making sure everything is okay. The peddler comes around and takes your order, so you may have to wait to order until he is free. We waited probably about 20 minutes for him to come to our table, but was nice in the meantime that they brought our salads, so that we could eat while we waited to order. There is a separate person that refills water glasses, so occasionally we had to wait for them to come back around. Our waitress would never fill it up for us.
When it was time to leave, another person (not the waitress) comes to get the check. After our waitress told us someone would be around to help us pay, we waited another 15 minutes until she noticed no one had helped us and she came back to assist. Staffing is an area where the restaurant can improve. There was no need for a different person to have each job-host, payment, seating, salad runner, dinner runner, waitress, water girl, peddler- and with so many staff in a small area there were many near collisions when people were carrying food and running around. Very chaotic. - Lydia L.CA, CA013Mar 17, 2024
Husband and I were visiting from Las Vegas NV.
We decided to try the Peddlers Steakhouse because of other people's nice reviews.
They serve all you can eat salads and give you a list of things you can have on it. The salads are okay. The ranch dressing is watered downed so it has a different taste to it.
Then if you're ordering Ribeye steak the Peddler comes to your table and cuts the size of steak you ordered right in front of you.
The steaks they serve are okay. They're not seasoned well. No flavor.
Our waitress was very nice and listened very well.
The only thing that was rude was the tall Man in dressed up clothes comes around and ask how everything is then this man reached right over my plate and took some trash that was sitting on the left side of the table. Totally weird. Like wait until I'm finished eating. Have some manners. If this man is part of management learn some management etiquettes.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Brandon F.Waverly, GA2512346Jan 11, 2024
Fantastic meal with a great ambience and very kind servers. The whole experience was great! Very fast service as well! A bit pricey when compared to other restaurants around that serve similar items.

Amazing service! I wish I took photos before we devoured our food. Our drinks never got lower than 3/4 full. My three year old was upset that they didn't offer chocolate milk so much so that my husband had to take her outside to calm her down. The manager went to the gas station and got her chocolate milk! That is above and beyond and better than anywhere else I've been! The entire staff worked cohesively as a team to ensure all our needs were met. This restaurant is perfect for a date night, but also very family friendly. Highly recommended!

A unique concept for steakhouse dining that I would highly recommend making reservations in advanced for. We were a party of 4 and didn't have reservations and was told it would be a 2 hour wait, we even arrived shortly after opening. They don't have much space for waiting so we went down the road to Applebees for a drink and apps before our table was ready. We ended up being seated just an hour later. I know host staff over estimate wait times however a whole hour was quite a bit.
Once we were seated we had our custom salad sheets. I personally liked this concept since I'm more picky about my salads. The portion was plentiful for a side salad and dinner roles were also brought out. The rolls were average. We also ordered some drinks which took a little while to come from the bar. The Candy Apple Sour and Spiced Winter Sangria were pretty good but nothing over the top.
The peddler, not the waitstaff takes your entree order pending on where your table is located due to the cramped dining space. The tables are very close together and I would often times have someone bump in to me or brush my back every time they walked by. We had the pleasure of watching our ribeyes being cut, however the interaction was very minimal. The experience of cutting the steak was a bit overhyped in my opinion.
Our meals overall were delicious. Everyone's steak was cooked fairly well. Medium rare. A few were a bit undercooked but I'd rather have a slightly undercooked rather than overcooked steak. We were a little let down with the sides. The baked and twice baked potatoes were good but we were told the steamed veggie was asparagus. When our plates came out, it was not asparagus and broccolini instead. That was a bit disappointing.
We ordered desserts to share, crème brûlée and the seasonal pumpkin spice cheesecake. Both were very decadent and full of flavor.
I would likely return again, slightly overhyped, but the food is great and it's a unique concept. Prices overall are fair for a nice steakhouse.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Jim B.Winston-Salem, NC015Mar 4, 2024
I love this place back in college, however, they have gotten rid of the salad bar and complement French onion soup. you now have to order your salad from a salad list but it is still unlimited. I had the prime rib which was $37. I've had better prime rib, and was not that impressed, I like to give this place another chance and next time get the ribeye
