Re-opened in the fall of 2010 by brothers Brian and Peter Overfelt, Old Princeton Landing welcomes locals and visitors alike. With the recent merging of the adjoining restaurant to the bar, we've named the entire facility Old Princeton Landing Public House and Grill. Peter and Brian Overfelt were raised on the Coast and grew up surfing California before they ventured all over the world. The food they ate while on surf trips in places like Australia, Indonesia, Brazil, Central America, Morocco, and Mexico left a lasting impression and has inspired much of what's served at OPL today.

Q:
Anyone know if they are Dog friendly. Ex, if I want to do outdoor dining with my dog with me?
A:
All of the restaurants in Half Moon Bay are so I presume Old Princeton is as well.

What are the portions like?
A:
I would say the portions are generous.

We came here on a semi-rainy day with our dog and sat in the large back yard! I was craving seafood so we got the fish tacos Baja style grilled (yum! The red cabbage was almost creamy) and the fish and chips were a bit more decadent but with a hell of a lot of fish. We also split a grilled cheese which was surprisingly delicious and came with a side of fries. We chose to get the vegetable of the day which was as Brussels sprouts. They were topped with Parmesan and were a good attempt although a little greasy for my liking.
The woman at the counter was super nice and answered all my questions about the different fish options. You can even order a side of cod on a salad if you want something super healthy.
I thought the backyard was nice and there was a fire pit. There was some seating with an overhang which is good for rain. You pick up the food yourself and get your own silverware. Overall, would come back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 12299202Feb 24, 20241 check-in
Stopped by here on my failed attempt to ale it to Maverick Beach ( for sure ya gotta get that beach early or you are walking miles ) anyway this place is right down the hill and thought give it a try
Super friendly staff and lots of options on the menu from breakfast through dinner , I opted for simple bacon and eggs. This is typical of Bay Area , one slice toast and 2 bacon but the price runs the same as a full breakfast. The meal and large Diet Coke was just under 19 bucks.
However it was very well cooked and very enjoyable
Seating inside and out with beach vibe. TV playing some sports and a nice sunny day. For sure with the stop in
Did I say how great the people are ? For sure give it a tryHelpful 0Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2024
After checking out Yelp advice and watching the video from sippycupadventures on youtube
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hvbuxZNtMhA
We went to have a bite. I asked the cashier what fish was fresh today and we were told Cod. We very much enjoyed the Fresh Cod fish and chips. We will be back for this.
There were no bussed tables inside so we sat outdoors. Pleasant but some tables outside didn't have amenities like napkins and vinegar and catsup on them.
Unrelated rant:
The restroom for customer use is in the bar attached next door to the restaurant and the Men's room was Out Of Order. Women's room was in service.
Lucky I just wanted to wash my hands. No employees in sight to ask advice from on how to clean up here after eating deep fried fish and chips ( AKA fries).
Note to bar management: Have you heard of those trendy transgender woke triangle thingies people are using these days?
Four stars from us after this wash room issue is remedied. Text me please. It is an hour drive one way for us to enjoy your delicious fresh fish.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jan 30, 20241 check-in
Was in HMB and decided to try this place. Portions are quite large. Ordered cod Thai curry, clam chowder and chicken strips. All were delicious especially the clam chowder! Staff were friendly. This is a local hangout. Good vibes.

This place is well located off Highway 1- close to the HMB airport, along the water. Plenty of parking, across from Mezza Luna.
No white tablecloths here, but you will find a tasty well cooked meal, salad, soup, main course... and friendly service.
You order - get a number - pick up your food.
Lots of seating- explore a bit to select your spot. Big variety of food.
Come for the live music, and / or after work drink in the large bar area.Helpful 5Thanks 1Love this 7Oh no 1 - Sep 20, 2023
Stopped in just before the kitchen closed to grab a late dinner. While the bar is open later (11:00pm), the kitchen closes at 9:00pm. The staff were gracious and accommodating as we ordered the last food for the night. You order food in the kitchen, they give you a buzzer, and you find a table in the bar area. When your food is ready, you get buzzed.
We were in the mood for a burger and the cook recommended we try the Markgard family grass fed burger with fries over their standard burger. And thus we did.
The Markgard family grass fed burger come with tomato, lettuce and a choice of cheese. I opted for no cheese. The meat was juicy and delicious! The fries were fresh cut style and were fairly standard and seemed to lose their crispness a bit too quickly. Everything in this area seems a bit pricey, as two burgers with fries cost us about $50 (with tip). Yikes!
Nonetheless, the grass fed burger was fabulous and the service was friendly, patient, and helpful. I'd recommend the place.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 27, 2022
The Mrs. and I strolled over to the Old Princeton Landing from Inn at Mavericks last night. We arrived shortly before 6 p.m. and the place was kind of quiet.
We found a spot at the corner of the bar. It was a great spot to take in the atmosphere of Old Princeton Landing. Pretty much every barstool was taken. From what I could tell, everyone was a local. Within the bar area, which is a large space, there are several high top tables. There is also seating outside in the front and back of the bar.
Victoria was behind the bar and she did an amazing job. Not to mention, she makes a pretty good Manhattan.
Around 7 p.m. many of the locals disappeared and the younger crowd came in. I'd venture to guess they were from out of town, but you never know. Most of them just ordered tequila shots and sat at the tables.
Food is offered at the Old Princeton Landing, but there is no table service. You have to order your food from the kitchen next door. We decided to take food to go. The Mrs. ordered the Hawaiian Bowl which was rice, topped with Hawaiian macaroni salad, and teriyaki chicken. Kiddo wanted the fish tacos, which she didn't like. The fish is grilled rather than fried. I ordered the Tri-tip sandwich which was really good. The meat was tender and had great flavor. The bread wasn't hard and the fries were crispy.
If you're looking for a great casual spot to enjoy a drink in Half Moon Bay, check out Old Princeton Landing.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 1 - 812819Feb 20, 20241 check-in
honestly not impressive. the only thing that was fresh and flavorful was the clam chowder. everything else lacked salt entirely, and that is the most basic step in seasoning your food. also, most of our food was literally cold when we got it.

Meh, I went there with a friend on Mother's Day, it was just one of only a few places that didn't have a wait.
Well, that is probably b/c they were already out of 30% of their menu.
I ordered a child's burger plate - it was fine - but the fries were (sadly) cold. And we split the grilled artichoke - which was jut fun and in season.
Even though this place was not at all crowded and the kitchen was offering/preparing less menu items - it still took about 40 mins to get our food. Luckily we were not in a hurry and not too annoyed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
