Went here on a whim with a friend and we decided we would give it a shot. Besides meeting an old friend who was a server which was a plus, the food, although a little on the expensive side, was great! We had some barbecued shrimp skewers and I had a pasta dish for dinner. While I didnt try any of the cakes for dessert, they all looked very very appetizing.
The fact that this place is an old mill (hence the name) is pretty cool and the restoration makes the place shine. The food takes it over the top.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Laura H.Atlanta, GA84277175Mar 11, 2011
Once a flour mill, the ruins have been rehabbed into a cozy, romantic space with restored brick and high ceilings. They have recently taken the menu down a notch and it's now more reasonably priced and better suited for a casual night out. On my last visit, they were offering a date night special, which was $30 for two people. It included two glasses of wine, an appetizer or dessert, and two entrées. 35 years and four children later, my mom and I were on date night after my dad and brother declared that they were on a date. Funny how that works, right? We had the fried green tomatoes to start, which were just okay. For my entrée, I had the parmesan chicken with (perfectly steamed) broccoli and cheese grits. It was really good, maybe a little too good, because I kept my spot in the clean plate club.
The menu is pretty Southern (read: heavy), so the only thing I would recommend is that they offer some lighter alternatives. We shared the peanut butter pie for dessert and oh my gosh, it was out of this world. It took me to a world where calories don't count: I was blinded by a rich, almost mousse-like peanut butter creation. I will go back for that alone. The owners (including Mayor Tommy) are almost always making their rounds, and the service is hospitable yet efficient. They have karaoke on Friday nights, so if you're in town, you might want to stop by for that. And if you stay late enough, you might witness some of the rumored spirits that are said to frequent the place...Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - J H.Marietta, GA021May 26, 2017
Reopened under new management - Gabriel's family of restaurants! Goes without saying - food and desserts are VERY WELL DONE!

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
I rave about The Mill to my friends and family so when I was finally given the chance to take my Mom, I was so excited. We walked in at 6:30 and found ourself in the middle of a fight between two staff members. The hostess smiled at us all while a random guy wearing a gold/tan turtleneck was scolding her. He was saying inappropriate things, repeating "do you understand" all while we stood there. Do you not see us? Worst of all, do you not see the hostess? I felt bad for her as she tried to keep her smile and greet us but this guy wouldn't stop.
The restaurant was dead for a Friday night. We were only the 6th table in the entire place, all while 4 waiters ran around like the place was full. After sitting for 4 minutes, we were not greeted, there was no waiter/waitress, no drink order, nothing. This is not like the previous 20+ experiences I've had here...whats going on? I was starting to get mad and worst of all, embarrassed.
We hit the 6 minute mark and my Mom literally waved at 2 waitresses and they didn't even look at us. Finally, the 9 minute mark came and we walked out. We walked by the same bar staff we walked by as we came in and no one tried to stop us.
With the numerous staff, chef and management makeovers you'd think this place would be top notch. If a restaurant can't get themselves together at the door or even follow through on actual service, you're destined to fail AGAIN!
I will never come back here again.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 23, 2011Previous reviewThis place has so much potential It kills me!! The one and ONLY good thing they had going on was the amazing Sunday brunch buffet and they did away with it. Where else can you have the city Mayor make and serve you a home made waffle the size of a Fiat? This place was packed and demanded reservations and although the price was high, you paid for it because it supported a local establishment and the food was delish. So, why was it taken away?!
The building itself is magical. The interior has exposed high beams and original brick and the windows are so big, at night, you can actually see the stars. We often sit on the patio facing the rail road tracks with a bottle of wine and felt like we're on vacation.
The place needs a marketing over haul and a manager/owner that sees what I and so many other locals see in this place. Get rid of the trendy pub and bar feel that you're so desperately pushing for and go back to your roots. Where are the lunch specials I craved at 9AM, the upscale, romantic dinners they served, the amazing wine list that is now a beer guide and the ambience that is gone? Bring back THE MILL that even made Henrys from across the track shake in his alligator boots. - Christine S.Atlanta, GA2266May 25, 2011
We happened to go on trivia night when celebrating a birthday here. Not many people were here during trivia night, but it is the summer season officially with schools out and it is a Wednesday night. The trivia guy was very nice and we enjoyed that aspect of the restaurant.
The atmosphere is fantastic. While you're waiting for your food, you can admire the architecture of the place. You can see where it used to be an old building and how they have updated it. It is really vintage and very lovely. The food was delicious. They have nice food, but it has been "casualed" down a lot, I suppose by the economic demand.
The food prices were reasonable-- you can eat cheap or you can go all out. They tend to have great drink specials and their 'shrimp and corn bisque' is SUPERB. Recommended for any one in the Acworth... no, the Atlanta area!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Miller F.Acworth, GA4188Mar 15, 2013

Been here three times, twice for the Sunday brunch and the BRUNCH is GREAT!!!! On par wit five star hotels I frequently go to, just no eggs of the non chicken variety (fish, etc..). This puts low brow places such as Ryan and Golden Corral to shame with a expert quality and pure elegance in the food that is sorely lacking. This compliments the area greatly and the new management for the past two months is a great guy who is coming off 46 years USAF so he is already in my book as great. Past owner had a bit of a temper problem and not great at the financials. The new menu revamped to take advantage of the high end kitchen this place had including a wonderful salamander that is the same kind that Rathburn's uses with a wonderful mix of smoke and broil - hint, ask for the Pittsburgh and you will be rewarded (char is King).
Recommend this place and have bought a cert for a friend to take his wife out as well - both were very happy for the romantic night out without the kids while I babysat.
When eating really look around at the place, over 150 years of history and it shows including when it was burned down in the civil war and rebuilt, you can see everything in the walls and the train makes it all the more special.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dot V.Powder Springs, GA5015614Mar 19, 2010
Had lunch here today with my husband. I had a gift certificate from www.restaurant.com. This was my third trip for lunch in the past couple of years. The food was excellent. Our server was great. They are only open from Wed. thru Sun. I love the historic building. A good friend had her son's rehearsal dinner here in a private room and she thought it was perfect.

Have been here 3 or 4 times and had different dinner selections each time. Have not missed yet! This place is a wonderful restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The Bourbon Strip Steak is incredible along with selected Seafood items I have tried. If you want a great nite out with some great service and wonderful, tasty food...this is your place! Restaurant.com offer great coupon deals that we use here quite often.

This place used to have the best Sunday brunch. Read: USED TO. When they changed the name and added "Pub" the menu change to "bar" food, so we were worried about going back. But they advertised that they still offered their famous brunch - however now it's just famously overpriced.
The bacon was flat and inconsistently cooked, we couldn't decide if it was done in a microwave or near the cold spot on the grill. The scrambled eggs were rubbery on one side, runny on the other, and oily - have you ever heard of scrambled eggs being oily? It was a first for me. The batter for the waffles produced waffle shaped muffins and crumbled as you cut into them. If you must eat here, get an omelet. It was the saving grace.
We also tried some of the lunch selection and did not find the food fresh or very appetizing. Even the peach desert had a pastry crust that was hard to cut through - too much egg brushed on.
The shame is the food used to be great and I miss it. Now it's for people who don't know any better. They're just "phoning it in" and charging you for the quality they used to have.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
