      Horrible
Just moved to gramercy park and found this store. I really wanted it to be my permanent store for my maltéese. I purchased a set of booties. But they were a tad too big so I returned to get a size smaller. ( all this in a 40 min time ). Hey refuse to do so. I explained. I just moved to gramercy park and I would be a client. They just. don't care.
Unbelievable to me they turn down a permanent client

Beware. Stay away of this store
      They just don't care

I have been purchasing my baby girl's food for several months. A few of my neighbors recommended the store.

It is always a pleasure to order from the store. The staff and the store manager are great and pleasant. It nearby home and it so convenient, There are so many selections of pet items to choose from in the store.

Delivery is the best option for me. I have never had an issue when contacting the store.

I just referred the store to a neighbor who was going out of her way to buy cat food today.

      Thank you

I have used this store for a while went there over the weekend to get smth but was asked to leave by an employee because i did not have a mask on. Although i have explained to her i have a medical condition which doesn't allow me to wear a mask.. she said she did not care and she wont let me purchase anything. I have explained again then she asked for a doctors note which i had w me, but she would not read it because the owner of the store was not there. So i asked her to call him and read the letter to him.... she refused to do that to instead she kicked me out. Mind u the store was empty. I do not support a business who Discriminate against people. Thats why i do not recommend it.

Great local store to get pet food and accessories; they have all the major brands, and at fair prices. I currently am feeding my cat dehydrated raw food, supplemented with canned, so I often get a bag of Stella & Chewy's here when I'm running low.

They also sell cute accessories and beds; I got my dog a "Star Wars" leash there that people comment on.

I usually come here when I'm walking a dog named Kula who lives on Gramercy Park; she always gets a treat here, which is why she drags me in. All the clerks are great here.

The people who work here are always incredibly kind. They remember the types of food that I buy for my cats. I think the prices and selection of cat food and litter are great. The man who works here is so kind and friendly and always asks about my cats and gives me samples or treat bags for them. There's not a bad thing I have to say about Canis Minor.

This place is overpriced and doesn't have the best selection. Despite that, I always made an effort to shop there because I felt it was important to support our local small business. When I went into the shop today, they had an anti covid-vaccine sign on the front door. I expressed my disappointment to the worker (who wasn't wearing a mask of course) and she simply rolled her eyes. Thankfully petco was just a few blocks away.

      *Expired product on shelves*

I had been a consistent customer, and was purchasing a lot of the TrueLuxe cans because my cat loved it. One day, he wouldn't eat the same food which was odd, so I happened to look at the can when I noticed the can was EXPIRED over a year ago... I kept the can to bring it back to the store and exchange it.

I assumed this would be common courtesy considering I spent my money on expired food... Who knows how it could've affected my cat if he'd eaten it.

I still wouldn't have been upset with them if they had made the situation right by letting me exchange it for a new fresh one... But this is not what happened.

When I came in the next day with the can (and receipt) and showed the cashier, she said "I can't exchange that because it's opened." I'm sorry but why does it matter if the can is opened if you cannot resell it anyway? You cannot put an expired product back on the shelf anyway so this really made no sense.

They really missed a simple solution that wouldn't have cost you much to rectify the situation and keep a customer. Not handled well at all.

They are fine otherwise, if you need to purchase here just make sure to check the expiration dates.

When we first moved to the neighborhood 3 years ago we were buying our cat food from Petco or ordering it on Amazon Prime to save money.

I frequently walked past Canis Minor, but I just assumed the prices would be much higher, after all it is Gramercy Park and the shops probably have to cover the high cost of rent! Although I would rather support small local businesses versus large chains, our 2 Maine Coon cats Ollie and Lola eat A LOT and the expense adds up.

One evening I was in a hurry and it was more convenient to buy from Canis Minor, so I stopped in for a few cans to tide us over. What a great surprise! The canned cat food was priced 25 cents lower per can than Petco, and bags of dry food were 20% lower as well. And if you sign up for an account, you accumulate points that can be used on a future purchase. Before we knew it, we had a $50 credit.

In the couple years since, the owner and staff have helped me find other products I've needed, given me samples to try (the freeze dried salmon treats are now an all-time favorite!) and let me return products when the little monsters won't eat them. They are always very nice, including the guy who delivers (did I mention they offer free delivery?!). I really don't mind the cramped quarters; it's to be expected in NYC, no?

I don't write reviews often, but when I saw the complaints some had about prices and customer service, I had to give my input. In my opinion, Canis Minor is the best!

So grateful to find a local place with a great selection of healthy grain-free food for cats. They have everything I need at reasonable prices. Also willing to exchange when my cat gets picky and decides he wants a different flavor...Also have a good selection of medicine, pet accessories, etc.

BEWARE: We bought counterfeit FRONLINE PLUS at this store.
I am livid to think I have been dousing our pets in GOD-KNOWS-WHAT chemicals.
I have been a loyal customer at this place for years, and thinking that I am supporting small businesses by buying here instead of Petco down the street...but NO MORE.
