Was looking around for a new place to eat around Cherokee St. I stumbled upon this place on when I was looking around on yelp.

The place was much much smaller than I expected. It's basically 6 or 7 feet wide and super long. There are three tables inside, that won't sit more than 3 people, and a table outside fit for about 6.

I looked up on the menu and was eyeing The Little Dipper. I heard the cashier say that the person that was just in line actually got the last one, my heart almost immediately dropped. I asked for another sandwich recommendation and the lady said the Carolina Reuben was pretty popular. It wasn't on the "main" menu hanging up, it was on it's own little menu. This was because it was originally just a special, but it was so popular they brought it back permanently. This Reuben wasn't your typical corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing Reuben. Turkey replaced the corned beef. There wasn't any cheese. Homemade coleslaw replaced the sauerkraut, and the dressing was a homemade thousand islands dressing. All of this was between two slices of the typical rye.

The cashier handed me my order. I sat down at one of the three tables inside and attempted to pick up my sandwich. The sandwich was stuffed pretty well, some of the coleslaw fell out along with the dressing. I took one bite, and my mind exploded. WHOA! What is this?! I was so confused! I was kinda expecting to be a little disappointed since I didn't get The Little Dipper, but instead I should have thanked the person in front of me. The whole sandwich combination was seriously amazing. The dressing was so so good. That sandwich literally made my day. Please please try this sandwich when you visit!

I will definitely be back. That sandwich has made this place one of my top three favorite sandwich joints in St. Louis.

We came here by suggestion of a friend and its a GREAT little gem! By little, I mean SMALL. One of the only drawbacks. There are three tables and if you stretch your legs out you could stop a customer from walking in. NEVER THE LESS, the food was great!

There were three of us and we each got a different sandwich to try and share.

The Carolina Reuben: MY FAV! Smoked turkey and swiss toasted on marble rye, with Sriracha 1000 Island and Carolina slaw. This sandwich packed the most flavor. Everything melded together perfectly. Tastebud sensation!

The Little Dipper: Italian beef with sauces "gravy".
This sandwich was on a hoagie style bun and a heavy layer of juicy beef was in between. For what looks like just meat and bread it had a ton of flavor. It is a bit on the salty side, so if you are a salt person, you would love this. I am not a salt person myself.

The Grilled Chicken Panini (Special) with goat cheese, balsamic onion jam and pear on sourdough: This was a good sandwich. My only issue was (for my taste) it had too much goat cheese. Most people would love it, I only love a small amount of goat cheese.

The staff were both super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu as well as how they prepare the meats/breads and where they source it.

If you are on Cherokee street and aren't craving tacos, this is a must try.

      The Carolina Rueben
      The Little Dipper, spicy.

My favorite place for lunch when I'm at work! I walk up the street to get food here at least once or twice a week. Lately I've been eating mostly the chicken katsu, chicken tacos or occasionally hummus and pita.
Jason (the previous owner) was great, and I hope he's doing well where ever he is now. He was very shy but generally pleasant to deal with. However, there's a whole new vibe since he sold it and I enjoy going there even more with the new owners. It's a lot friendlier and there's a great energy in there no matter who is working that day. They've expanded the menu and are always coming up with new recipes.
Yes, it's a tiny place, so obviously don't bring your entire family here for lunch with you. But definitely stop by here when you get a chance!

I was a little taken aback as I entered the Little Dipper, it's LITERALLY a hole in the wall. I wanted a sandwich so I used Yelp to find a sandwich shop close by. Wow! This place is amazing. I had the special which was a Chicken Panini with peppered bacon, balsamic onion jam, pear, and goat cheese. It was fabulous. My husband had the Big Dipper and said it was hands down the best sandwich he's ever had. We've been trying to make our way to sandwich shops we haven't tried yet but we will definitely be visiting The Little Dipper again. The owner was working that night and he was so nice and helpful. He answered any questions we had and talked to us while we waited. Great place!

The "Little Dipper" is a must try! Besides their regular menu, they also have sandwiches of the month. Nov '15 is the Chicken Katsu created by the Japanese Chef and it is ah-mazing!!!! It's a tiny little quaint shop with additional outside seating.

Side note - new owners took over the shop in Nov. '15 and they're rocking it with the new menu items! I'm already excited about next months sandwich!

Two visits and I'm hooked! This skinny little sandwich shop on Cherokee is fat with flavors! My first visit I tried the crawfish etouffee and their Reuben with deliciously smoked turkey. Second visit I had the chicken katsu sandwich and my guy tried the SST (Salmon, Spinach, Tomato) with homemade pickled cucumbers. Both were excellent and I look forward to my next visit. Very friendly staff who will guide you to a great selection.

Although this place is inside a bar, can't remember the name, food was spot on. Ordered falafel taco and chicken taco with a side of Cajun coleslaw. Besides the chicken taco being a little dry for my tastes, everything was well conceived. The falafel taco and all the ingredients blended well for a beautiful flavor all around. The Cajun coleslaw was just hot enough to feel it and cooled immediately by the fresh vegetables inside the coleslaw.

Coupled with the bartender pouring proper drinks, I give this place 5 stars for being awesome.

After a friends suggestion on facebook we traveled to this tiny, closet size, sandwich Mecca! With a simple but scrumptious menu it was difficult to choose just one sandwich. In the end I went with the tomato melt. It had a perfect combination of melty cheese, toasty bread, and lovely garlic. I found myself thinking about if for the rest of the day.

My husband tried the wheat burger, and with a full mouth repeatedly said, "this is really good!" He described it as the most satisfying non-meat burger he has ever eaten. We also tried the soup of the day which was a sweet potato bisque, we literally licked our bowls because the soup was so tasty!

We also had a lovely conversation with the owner and the chef who were warm, friendly and joy to speak with. They commented that originally they thought most people would get carry out but have been surprised by the number of people sticking around to eat-in.

Although the restaurant is truly closet size it is made up for with fantastic food, a charming interior and kind and friendly owner and owner/chef. We will be back often!

Stellar food! I've never once been disappointed the numerous times I've eaten here. The owner Jason is incredibly friendly and offers a nice range of choices including sandwiches, chili, salad, hummus... he's got it all.

Meat lover or vegetarian, this place has excellent food that's right for the price point. A great little gem on Cherokee.
