I had an appointment for a consultation at 3:30. They called me the morning of to ask that I come in a 2:45; I said that was fine. I rearranged my afternoon to accommodate the change.
I arrived and signed in at 2:40. There was no receptionist. At about 2:50 a young woman came out and took others back. There were several other groups going in and out. At 3:25 she called another person's name- they had said their appointment was at 2:15.
I told her to cancel my consultation since I'd already been waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time.
There are lots of other lasik offices in the area that are friendlier and more organized.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Deb P.Helotes, TX014Aug 15, 2022
I went in for a lasik consult and was provided with all of the post-op care instructions for lasik...then told at the end of my consult that I would need PRK instead, but never provided with the updated post-op care instructions. AFTER I completed my PRK surgery, I was instructed not to be near a fan or outdoors without sunglasses (even on cloudy days) for a YEAR, and to use eyedrops every 2-4 hours for the next 6 months.
Crazily enough, I closely adhered to all of the guidelines because I wanted the surgery to be a success. I wanted all of my hard work and eye drop timers on my phone to be worth the effort, so I stuck with it...aaaaand saw my vision beginning to decrease again after about a year.
Ever since, I've had rapidly degenerating vision and corneal issues. I'm following up with an opthamologist outside of the LASIK Vision Institute (because I didn't purchase their insurance deal for free follow-up surgeries - I was thinking, why would I want to go through it all over again?) and have had my medical records requests completely ignored by LVI for 2 months now. The local office says corporate offices have my records, corporate sends me back to the local office, it seems an impossible task. I hope my new ophthalmologist can still assist with my vision issues even without their cooperation.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Amanda R.North Central, San Antonio, TX7821Oct 24, 2022
The staff was amazing!!
I was so nervous but they talked me through the whole process and when it came to surgery day I was in and out with ease. Dr J. Ryan Brewer was amazing!! Very kind and gentle! He had a great atmosphere in the surgery room that made it go by even faster!
Most uncomfortable part was 4 hours after, but sleeping makes it bearable! I woke up with such clear vision! So far everything is great and got a thumbs up from my post op!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Christian P.San Antonio, TX231Aug 20, 2021
A huge shout out to the team here at LASIK institute! I really appreciate everyone being so kind hearted and ready to answer any questions as needed!
Nancy, Jennifer & Dr Vu! I want to thank you personally for the impact and positivity that you guys have made in my journey to seeing clearly!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jennah T.San Antonio, TX02May 30, 2022
First off, I am not sure if this was because my appointment was after business hours but it was a disaster finding the office, I went in the main doors and the elevators were not accessible. Someone told me I had to walk around the building and use a back door ? I was so flustered as my appt time neared. This complicated way of getting to the office should of been explained before hand.
Second, you don't meet the doctor at the consult. You meet them the day of surgery... Not comfortable with this what so ever.
Third, I was told I was a candidate for Lasik. After my instinct told me to seek a second opinion (and much more extensive testing/exam, I was told I was not a candidate for lasik due to my thin corneas and would need PRK.
Fourth, they scheduled me for surgery without my knowledge? I got a call about confirming my surgery... never scheduled it.
Fifth, I was told two different doctor names by two different people, but again, you don't meet the doctor until surgery ?
Sixth, one can't call the building/actual office. The call is routed to a main line call center ?Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Eleni G.Northeast Side, San Antonio, TX082Oct 16, 2020
The team is amazing! Every single visit I was greeted with a smile. I always laughed and felt comfortable with the experience.
They helped ease my mind in regards of the procedure. I never felt pressured, was answered every question I had (& I had MANY).
Let me tell you I had a HIGH prescription and it is incredible to think that 1 week post op I am seeing at 20/15!!
The very next day I was able to see clearly. Just be sure to listen to them when they say to go home & SLEEP. You won't feel any pain if you do so!
Thank you so much & I could not have had a better experience!
Edit: I had the Contoura procedure done! Highly recommend if a good candidate.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - April P.San Antonio, TX02May 27, 2019Updated review
8 months later I still can't see. (Doctor told me to just wear glasses.... WTF DID I PAY YOU FOR!!!) As a matter of fact they took my money messed up my eye and now I have to pay someone else to fix it. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! I paid for a lifetime warrantee . 8 months after surgery they can't fix my eye. (They have no plan B if it don't work) It's going to cost me $$$$ to fix my eye at another place.
This was a huge mistake. I what everyone who reads this to know two things. One, their lifetime warrantee is a joke. Two , if they screw up they will not fix it. You will be stuck paying someone else . Please do yourself a favor and ask them ahead of time if the surgery doesn't work what is my other options. Get it in writing.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jan 8, 2019Previous reviewIt's been four months since I had PRK done here. I have not had clear vision ONCE in the last four months. Matter of fact my vision has gotten WORSE.
Sep 26, 2018Previous reviewBeware!!! they're going to try to push a lot of things on you.( warrantee and Eye plugs for example ) The eye plugs are a gimmick DONT buy them. It's a waste of money. They're going to be pushy and try to get you to do it. Just say NO . After I was given two different prices. I finally just gave in. Spent $250 on Eye plugs and afterwards the doctor told me they only last about 90 days when I complained I didn't think they were working. Other than their used car salesman pushiness I would say the experience was good. The doctor that does the surgery is great, very nice, very professional..

Had a great experience there, went in with 20/60 vision with an astigmatism and left with 20/20 in my right eye and 20/15 in left eye,, crystal clear.
Great job and I highly recommended them.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lady R.Austin, TX18354185Jun 22, 2019Updated review
Three stories to tell and all of them are negative.
Here are their similarities:
Dr. Peters is really mean and uncaring. This is the guy that takes a look at your eyes before and after. He does not care and does not listen to any patient. He's going very deaf or something.
Dr. January is no longer working here. It's Dr. I Love to Mess Up and Not Pay Attention. Another girl who had her eye surgery done was sitting with me and told me it was her fifth... HER FIFTH eye surgery because they kept messing it up. I wanted to run out by then. She told me her eyes kept feeling like there was sand paper in them because they left stuff in her eye.
The staff do not care about you. This is the overall attitude of this place. Jennifer, the marketing rep, just wants your money. The front desk staff don't care if you had post opp instructions or any instructions. If you ask them a question about your surgery, they will respond with "oh that's not my department." Or I don't take care for that. If you refer someone you don't get money back like they advertise.
Before your procedure, I should say right before your procedure, the clinic makes you pay that day. After you pay, since you are there early in the morning, and you have to sit and wait for almost 5 to 6 hours until your procedure which is in the afternoon at around two or 3 PM. I had to wait seven hours for my procedure. You practically memorize or are brainwashed by the one that is 3 minutes as they replay it over and over again. I began to really hate the ad and the wait was awful. When you go into the room where they prepare you for Lasik, they hand you some stuff you need to put on, but give no instructions on how to put them on or any other instructions. I was in the room with about five others waiting to get the procedure. They turn off the light to the room and make you watch a 90's film that just replays over and over again until someone calls you in the procedure room. In the procedure room, there was heavy metal rap playing and it was really disturbing. The They placed eye drops in my eye and one of the eyes the lady missed and wiped away all the drops without even looking to see if she got my eye. So that eye was an in an incredible amount of pain because it didn't have anesthesia. But I survived. You come out and vision is cloudy. They give you cheap sunglasses and send you in your way. And that's it.
So much waiting. And so many questions with no one there. And many other disturbing sights and experiences. Don't come here. I don't recommend it.
Go somewhere else. This place is awful and they do not care.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Phenomenal I can see!! I watch movies comfortably at well as the computer. I can drive more comfortably. I don't have acne problems due to my glasses anymore. I only need to wear sunglasses and I enjoy wearing sunglasses cause it's really bright outside in San Antonio; we got sun. The doctors are top knoch they are great at what they do with a brilliant staff. Extremely helpful. Eachone went above and and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable as they could be. It for the most part was painless actually all of it was painless. One only becomes uncomfortable a little bit during the testing and recovery. They want to make sure they get the most accurate tests so it may take a little longer depending how cooperative you are and others before you and how good you are at following directions. Then it will be quicker. Be patient they are the best
