Came here for the Christmas theme candle light concert. The band was amazing, perfect weekday event for a date or night out with family. Amazing venue and the space was so well decorated.
Concert goers also have access to the gallery. Didn't poke around much but it looked like a standard contemporary art gallery so can also easily make an activity out of it pre or post concert.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Currently we are offering free admission for all of our galleries, so we hope you can return to explore further at a later date. Looking forward to welcoming you back for more memorable moments in the future!

First time visit for the Coldplay Candlelight Concert! I really enjoyed the venue and the orchestra quartet who performed were very talented and enthusiastic! The concert started at 6:30 sharp and lasted a little over an hour. They did an encore of Viva La Vida for us and it literally made my night!
The room where the concert was held had a great atmosphere and ambiance, lit only by hundreds of electric candles by the stage. Heads up that you can only record during the final song and no flash photography is allowed. Hats off to the performers!
The museum is open to those who attend the candlelight concert, so we poked around a bit. The gallery is on the second floor and it was a little easy for us to get lost. Nothing quite spoke to me, but nice to take a stroll through to admire if you have free time before/after the show.
Would recommend!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 235123Feb 19, 2024
What a great afternoon and evening we just had here! We bought tickets for the Candlelight Disney Concert in SF and this was the venue. My wife and I love to explore new places and I was surprised that I had never heard of this museum. We decided to come earlier in the afternoon so we could explore the museum before the concert. The museum had many beautiful paintings and sculptures. Many of the featured paintings were the work of Dorje Chang Buddha III. This is a 2 story museum that has the concert area and gift shop on the first floor and the artwork on the second floor. There were parts of the museum that I felt had some wasted space which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. However, the artwork was beautiful! By the time we finished exploring the museum, it was time for the concert. The concert was absolutely incredible! 6/5 stars! The venue was very intimate. The scenery in the venue felt like you were in a Japanese garden. There is not a bad seat in the house. You will see what I mean in my pictures. The way the quartet played the classic songs we all know sounded amazing. This is the perfect type of event to complete a romantic date with your significant other. My wife and I will definitely attend another one!

This review is specifically for the Joe Hisaishi Candlelight Concert located in this museum.
My boyfriend and I are huge fans of Studio Ghibli and the scores in the films. This was the first quartet concert we've attended and we loved it! For an hour we were taken on a whimsical journey of the many films Joe Hisaishi conducted for. The musicians did a great job introducing each piece and executing the songs.
They allow you to record the last song of the night and ask, of course, that you keep your phone silent otherwise. Pictures are also welcomed at the end but they request that the flash is off.
Price- Varies depending on where you want to sit but can range from 50-100 per person. Seating is first come first serve.
Restrooms- After they check your tickets, it's to the left. There are codes to get in but are provided on a piece of paper stuck to the wall. There are multiple stalls.
Parking- We parked in the SoMa Grand parking structure (next to Whole foods) and walked over.
Tips- Make sure to have the fever app downloaded so you can easily scan your QR code.Helpful 9Thanks 2Love this 2Oh no 0 - 62614951865Oct 8, 2022
This was the perfect backdrop/scenery for the Joe Hisaishi candlight concert! If you don't know who Joe Hisaishi is, you've probably heard his music before. He does the recognizable music for Miyazaki movies like Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, etc
It was so intimate, beautiful, whimsical, and magical. It was also cool getting the chance to explore the many art pieces before and after the concert. Such an interesting collection.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 2023
I was walking down Market St towards the Westfield Mall when the weird artificial tropical garden in the dated windows to our right attracted our attention. The signs at the door identified the place as the International Art Museum of America and advertised free admission. We were intrigued and, because we weren't in rush, we decided to check it out.
The entry to the museum is through the gift shop, where a very friendly employee welcomed us and told us more about the collection. Unfortunately, the artificial garden that attracted us in was closed due to a candle lit concert, but we could check out the galleries on the second floor. The first exhibit was our favorite: it featured textile art where patches of cloth were arranged into framed mosaics of animals. This is a temporary exhibition and it appears the art pieces were on sale because all of the listed a price of about $1000.
The rest of the museum was mainly featuring art by a single Chinese American artist: there was anything and everything from prints to sculptures to frames. We even noticed two lion sculptures that the plaque identified as created in the fifteenth century during the Ming dynasty. However, the whole place was giving us an off vibe that it may be a cover for something else. We saw only two other visitors in the museum during our visit. In particular, we were shocked by a door that was labeled as the Treasure Room, but featured three bars with multiple locks preventing visitors from opening it. A women's name was written on yellow tape plastered across the door. Was it an art piece? I don't know--but it did scare us.
I probably won't come back, but this museum was definitely an interesting find in the heart of SF. Maybe folks who are more up-to-date with developments in Chinese American art would be more appreciative of its true value.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 19, 2022
While we walked through the city, this museum caught our attention with the beautiful tree sculptures and indoor fountain. After reading the sign, we learned it was a museum and free and happened to be open during our trip so we made a detour. The person at the front desk informed us about the museum and the collections we would find as well as the rules.

This review is for New Year's Eve party 2022. The DJ was terrible. The tables for 500++ only seats 4-5 but does come with a bottle. You do have the options of buying drinks at the bar. If I had to do it all over again probably would pay a little more and go to a place with open bar/ better music.

Located just a block from Union Square and the public library, the IAMA is a nice escape where you can enjoy some calming, beautiful paintings, sculptures, and tiles. The museum is made up of 2 floors--the first which has a "garden" with resin ponds and is darkly lit and was meditative to walk through. The second floor is more typical of a museum with paintings on walls and benches for seating. The 2nd floor was much larger than expected with lots of twists and turns to rooms and hallways. I liked the variety of media that was exhibited including calligraphy, sculptures (e.g. frames, tiles), Asian landscape and folklore paintings, Western hodgepodge of realism paintings, and contemporary flower paintings. I also appreciated how they provided paper and colored pencils for kids to sketch with, but the colored pencils were horrendous for any kind of technique, so bring your own pencils if you're someone who enjoys drawing in museums.
