About the Business
Born in sunny Southern California in 1969, The Habit Burger Grill is known for Charburgers cooked-to-order over an open flame. But the menu extends far beyond burgers - it's a celebration of Californian-inspired flavors. Alongside the brand's signature Charburgers is a meaningful array of handcrafted sandwiches, crisp salads, and creamy shakes, ensuring there's something for everyone. The Habit Burger Grill has earned notable recognition, being featured in Newsweek's "America's Favorite Restaurant Chains 2023" and praised for its Tempura Green Beans, named as the top green bean dish in The Daily Meal's "Ranking Green Bean Dishes From 11 Chain Restaurants" in 2023. Additionally, it was listed in Thrillist's roundup of "Underrated Burger Chains that Need to be in Every State!" The Habit Burger Grill has since grown to over 370 restaurants across 14 states and internally - and continues to grow, serving up delicious meals that capture the essence of California feel-good food.

I was driving past when I decided to stop in for a burger & onion rings before my Santa Con festivities.
There was a gentleman cleaning the windows & he opened the door for me to enter. Such a nice gesture!
Another gentleman took my order correctly & asked if I wanted to add on a drink. I declined since I had my own water bottle.
My order was ready within 5-8 minutes. Pretty quick! I ordered an impossible burger w/cheese & raw onions, no tomatoes. I was given it with tomatoes. I normally say no tomatoes since I don't like to waste em. But I also don't mind picking them out.
The same gentleman who was cleaning the windows handed me my food & complimented me on my makeup. I was feeling iffy about it but decided to leave the house with it. Lol! So that was nice to hear.
Overall I like this habit location, everyone is friendly and nice. Food being fresh is a plus.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Habit has managed to keep their items reasonably priced in comparison to other burgers joints. Considering they make their food fresh with quality ingredients.
Everything was good. It always is. Of course I would've appreciated more bacon on the blt, but it was only $5 so I didn't expect it to be overflowing. I think the ceaser salad was the standout dish. They weren't skimpy with the dressing or the croutons. Perfect side!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Very bad customer service. When I asked to speak with a manager, there was no one available. Staff is not trained on how to properly handle very simple customer issue. When I asked to please provide manger name I was told they couldn't provide that. This is my last time trying the Habit, will not be back unfortunately.

I love the Habit Burger Grill and since I'm staying down here in the Bay Area for a few weeks, I'll take advantage of it , as there isn't one where I live. I learned not to try any of there seasonal specialty menu offering, like the Patty Melt, or that Pretzel bun burger thing. That was a big fail .... no longer offered either. No, I stick to what the Habit Burger does best, the Charburgers! These are grill over a charbroiler so the meat has that nice broiled flavor from flames that you'll never get at say In N Out as they just fry the patties on a flat top.
I get the Double Charburger with cheese and add grilled onions. That free to add! This beats the heck out of a Double Double from In N Out. OK, a little more money, but way worth it. I only go to In N Out of there's no Habit burger around. Stick to burgers, that's what they do best! Fries are mos def better than In N Out.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Simple and satisfying.
I was impressed with my last meal at Habit. This is fast food, no question, but it's made fresh and with high standards for quality which really make a difference. The cheeseburger had good flavor and was nicely assembled. I appreciated the freshness of the veggies and the nicely toasted bun. The fries and onion rings were great versions their standard fast food incarnations. Both were piping hot fresh, crispy, delicious. Service was friendly. It's a bit more expensive than other local fast food options, but I think it's better.
Not bad for a quick meal when you're craving a fast food style burger and fries.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I always think of In and Out among famous burger chains from California. The Habit started in Santa Barbara, and over the years it has been a reliable place for great burgers and sandwiches. They definitely have a wide variety of proteins - beef, grilled chicken, fried chicken, ahi, and even that Impossible meat.
The Dublin location is a pretty clean establishment, and they have several ordering kiosks along with a traditional cashier. For my recent visit I ordered:
Ahi Filet - Normally this is one of my favorites, other than the Santa Barbara Double Char. I found the seasoning a bit more aggressive that in the past. Still, a very solid sandwich. Would be even better with some wasabi!
Tempura Green Beans are definitely my favorite side, more so than fried.' Very puffy and piping hot. Enjoy with a side of ranch. Not a bad way to up your veggie intake.
Note that besides the diverse proteins they also change up the breads - regular burger buns, ciabatta, sourdough, etc. If I'm not mistaken they also change up the menu periodically. Definitely never boring and count me as a Habitual customer, LOL'Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0Business owner information

I never been to The Habit before, my cousin wanted to come here for lunch she said they have amazing burgers, and she was right!
First when you walk in the place is nice and clean! There is 3 order pads to put in your order and even though your putting in your own order the lady working made sure she greeted us.
The tempura green beans were my favorite, so light crispy and delicious! The onion rings soo crispy and not oily! I also ordered the mushroom burger and sea salt caramel shake all of it was amazing! We left with no left overs lol.
I really like this place and they have all kinds of different chili peppers to choose from. Also they have good prices!
This is going to be my go to Burger Spot for sure!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Yesterday was my first time at a Habit Burger, and it definitely hit the spot after a long hike. Parking was easy, the store was pretty clean and organized, and I appreciated being able to order off the kiosks, having never looked at their menu before. I ordered a Portabella Char and Sweet Potato Fries & Fries and my friend got the Original Impossible and Tempura Green Beans & Fries. I love how you can split your side into two different items here - perfect for indecisive people like me. We didn't have to wait very long for our food (less than 10 minutes) and grabbed a booth near the door in the meantime.
The burger itself was decent (a very standard burger) but I really loved the portabella mushrooms on it. The fries were fine but I didn't end up finishing them. They did have a good selection of condiments at the counter though, which I appreciate. Overall, I probably wouldn't come here regularly but it was pretty good lunch!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Garlic Parmesan fries are ubiquitous nowadays but seldom are they well done. Today I found the elusive unicorn, the jackpot, the ultimate: the best garlic Parmesan fries since before the pandemic. The fries were fried a tiny bit more than normal to prevent soggy bottoms from the toppings. Firm and crispy outside but still moist and tender inside. Held up perfectly to the garlic butter. Speaking of which, there was a generous helping of garlic but not too too much butter, enough to coat the fries without drowning them. Also appreciated that shredded instead of powdered cheese was used.
Slight disappointment with the veggie burger. Didn't do my due diligence so didn't know that it came with sweet mustard and cucumber. These standard toppings skewed the taste sweeter than expected. Not realizing this, should have made modifications and omitted the clashing tastes like the cheese, pickles, peppers, etc. Unfortunately, it wasn't a taste sensation but one of confusion.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Sep 7, 2018Previous reviewThe seasonal Golden Chicken salad is my second favorite salad at the Habit, especially since I was able to substitute grilled chicken for the fried version. Loved the bacon. Also like the sweeter, lighter lettuce mix used. I added some of the caramelized onions for another layer of flavor.
Two things prevented this from being the perfect salad. I normally like feta but the Habit's feta is flavorless. I also don't like the cilantro lime ranch dressing. It's watery and needs a total recipe rethink. A mega flavor boost is needed. I do like raiding the condiment bar for chili peppers to spice up my meal. Next time, I'll try the balsamic vinaigrette instead.Jul 4, 2014Previous reviewThe Habit really has become a weekday lunch habit for me because:
* It is so close to work, literally a 5-minute drive
* Tastes better than any bag lunch I can pack and with less effort, too
* Quality ingredients served fresh
* Their burger is OK, much better than the arches, ping pong ball head or king but my favorite menu items are actually the alternatives they offer to the burger like their chicken, tri-tip and tuna sandwiches
* Also enjoy their salads, huge with lots of fixings. My fave, the Santa Barbara Cobb
* Lastly, awesome tempura green beans
Which brings me to today's lunch. Just tried their new Sesame Chicken & Almond salad. Still needs work. The SB Cobb has lots of fixings, nicely arranged. This salad looks to be mostly lettuce with skimpy fixings haphazardly tossed together. The sesame miso dressing had too much vinegar and just made each bite unpleasantly sour. The grilled chicken was a nice portion and that's what I ended up eating. The Thai Crunch Salad at CPK is a much better version of Chinese chicken salad.
Also tried their strawberry limeade drink. Perfectly sweet-tart. My only wish, they made a fizzy version.Jan 28, 2014Previous reviewTheir burgers are a cut above other fast food burgers. I really appreciate that their onions are cooked and caramelized as I don't really like eating raw onions.
I only wish they had an outdoor fireplace similar to the one they have in their Pleasanton location.
