The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille

My boss and I stopped here to grab lunch on our way back from DC. I wasn't overly excited after glancing at their reviews but we were both very hungry and it was one of the first places we were passing on our journey back.

The Green Turtle is a chain, though they are not in the Pittsburgh area. They kind of remind me of a TGI Fridays or something like that. I perused the menu and decided upon a lunch special of soup and salad. I ask about the dressings and if they were all bottled. They were, and I was not surprised. I got a lunch portion Power house salad with Oil and vinegar, added grilled chicken, and a cup of their MARYLAND CRAB SOUP, which defined itself as our signature Maryland-style crab soup with a zesty tomato base and lumps of crabmeat.

Our food was delivered in a timely manner. I tried the soup. I can't put this nicely, it was terrible. It tasted like Campbell's vegetable soup right out of the can. There was zero, zip, nada crab in the "crab soup". Instead I tasted enough salt to raise my blood pressure. If I hadn't been absolutely famished I wouldn't have eaten any of it. To sum this soup up, very salty tomato broth with small chunks of peas, carrots, and green beans. Epic fail, for a "signature item." The salad was good, I actually wish I would have just got an entrée size and skipped the soup because it was a tad small. Something you would imagine as a dinner salad BEFORE your meal, not your meal. I also think the place was expensive for what you get. My lunch without drink was $14.00 or so, for something that I don't think was worth half that.

One saving grace was the waitress was super sweet, friendly, and attentive. She alone would get a good rating but the food kinda stunk. Extra bonus to our waitress, she offered us to-go glasses for our iced teas. Very nice. 2.5 stars, and they all go to her.

I am always apprehensive about low ratings on a resturant. I want to listen but I believe in second chances. This was the case when my bestie and I were on the road headed north looming for good food. In a random choice of options we chose The Green Turtle.

From the greeting at the door to the last bite this was a wonderful experience.

If you have the chance stop in and enjoy the hometown vibe.

Decent food but horrible customer service at this location. We went on a Friday night around 8pm and the restaurant wasn't busy. Ordering time to on the table service took well over 20 minutes. We were never visited by our waitress during our wait for food. Had to ask for refills. Although service was terrible, we thought the food tasted good. We won't return to this location.

Recently re-visited the Greene Turtle in Mt. Airy for dinner. Our party of 3, including a young child, left a little disappointed.

The two or so previous times we've been here it was okay, what you'd expect for a sports bar.

This time, not as good. Place didn't feel real clean. Food was just alright, though presentation is sad. We had a beer, rockfish bites (an unusual offering, not as good as it sounds), a couple burgers and a salad. Service was pleasant though not very trained.

Might want to consider your options, unless you're just here for beer and TV sports.

Food is good IF they get it right, the SERVIVE on the other hand is the worst I've had the displeasure of encountering (more then once)
The particular waitress I had (I belive her name was Maddie) did not know the menu, when I asked specific questions she just assumed, when my food came wrong I had to ask for it to be corrected and after getting it wrong a second time all she did was place blame, i started to give a THIRD CHANCE at redemption but after waiting over 10 min for the 3rd attempt at a meal I just said let me have my check. This place was not busy and had only 1 other table occupied so its not like she had a lot on her plate or was busy.
Complained to someone that claimed to be manager and fell on deaf ears.
Its very sad, this place has good food and the chicken sandwiches are the best I've had BUT the bad service alone is enough to make me not want to go again.
That was the first time in the 25+ years I have been at a restaurant and did NOT leave a tip. That. Bad.

This is my first time at this location. It's 9:00pm on a Monday night, and while there are only 2 patrons here when I came in, about 15 other people came into the bar ordering food and drinks. I ordered the blackened shrimp pasta with bread sticks.

My order just came out , as ordered, to go, with Old Bay on the side, and it smells really good.

Overall, the service is subpar. Cleanliness is 8, knowledge of staff is a 5. Not like the original in Ocean City MD.

Food was great, service not so much.

We came looking to see tonight's fight but sadly they don't get pay per view. What they do have is all channels set to only 2 games.

We waited 10 minutes for the bartender to greet us at a fairly empty bar. It then took her another 15 minutes to ask us what we wanted for food.

We got our food, wings , and she didn't even grieve us napkins. It was t just us with poor service. The 2 people next to us didn't even get plates for their appetizers.

I wouldn't give this a 1 star. This location needs new staff.

Absolutely awesome! We came here a few years ago and were slightly disappointed but decided to give it another try last night. They have totally changed things up and we were VERY impressed. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back!

Champions in Frederick is 100% Better

Good burgers. Service was wonderful from Betsy. Prices are too high for the area.
Nice place to watch a game.
