Come here for lunch because it looked like a nice quaint place. It was a pretty relaxed atmosphere and I really liked the seat by the window have to say quite a nice place to sit plus get my people watching skills on.
The fries were pretty good, though wish I had the opportunity to try the truffle fries which I have seen a lot of people rave about on yelp. It was thick hand cut fries and had melted chunks of cheese on top which I really enjoyed both in presentation and taste. The po boy sandwich was not bad. The bread was pretty basic, a little too much so it made it kind of plain. The plain part might also be due to there not being enough sauce as well, would have been nicer to have more. The best part has to be the shrimp. It was fresh and had a deep fried to a crispy crunchy shell. Quite enjoyable to ea
The waiter and I assume manager were pretty good, they came and followed up continuously on how I was doing.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Greg R.Greenville, SC28522385Oct 9, 2016Updated review
Was excited to visit the green room after the re- opening. Upon first impression - the renovation looks great. We thought they made well use of the space and upgraded every aspect of seating, lighting and decor.
Sadly, that's where our excitement ending. Service was good and what we expect in greenville now. However the food was completely uninspired and the plating lacked any creativity. We went for brunch and left very disappointed in our food and the value.
We've going to tupplo honey for bunch on weekends and love the classic breakfast and maga memosa. We ended up at the green room because TP had over and hour wait. Green room was near empty - we now know why.
See our attached pic - why would you go.out to eat and spend money on this? Id avoid this place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 28, 2014Previous reviewAnother great night at The Green Room. The patrons were beautiful, the service superb but what I really want to gush on is the food, especially the crab-cakes. Wow! If you are a fan of the crab cake, I have found the best in Greenville - The Green Room!

I have not been here in 3 yrs and thought we would give it a try since it was new management and menu. I was not impressed yet again.
I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich on pretzel bun. This was not executed very well. The chicken breast, even though it was moist, it was three times the size if the bun and blue cheese dressing just made it a soggy mess. The flavors were there, but it was impossible to eat. The chicken should be diced or it should be a buffalo chicken salad. It was served with chips that were thin and crispy but flavorless.
Hubby had duck served witha teaspoon of swiss chard and teaspoon of sweet potato souffle (no exaggeration on portion size).
We also started with steak quesadillia, which was small but good. We left hungry, went and ate at Cazbas!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 9, 2014Previous reviewThe atmosphere is nice and service was friendly. I had the swordfish which was ok. It wasn't overly cooked or overly seasoned but was probably frozen not fresh. My palette did not like either soups offered, the lamb or Gorgonzola Cauliflower. If I come here again it would be because I was incredibly board with all the other favorable restaurants downtown.

I had brunch and ordered the standard breakfast of eggs, biscuit, potatoes, and coffee. I like fluffy, yellow scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs were dry, dark, and below expectations. They also served the smallest biscuit that I've ever seen in South Carolina. Overall, the portion size was small compared to what I've seen in other restaurants in the south. If you're used to southern portions then the standard breakfast won't do it for you unless you're dieting.
The atmosphere is relaxed and kitschy with the decor having no visible theme other than everything being a shade of green. The inside tends to be darker with only a couple tables for outside seating. Certainly a comfortable spot for your a quick bite. Service was fast and polite.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Nice little restaurant pub serving great food. My father in law brought us here for a quick lunch! I dug that they had Quest a local beer on tap! It was hoppy and wonderful! I ordered the house salad, with house dressing, It was large and in charge! And a perfect size for lunch! Filling but not so huge that your dragging the rest of the day!
We sat at the bar and the bar tender kept our waters full and took care of us well!
Nice spot with indoor and outdoor seating and I very much enjoyed my lunch!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 7, 2015
What a disappointment! The Green Room did NOT live up to it's reputation on any front. Here's a snapshot of our experience.
ARRIVAL: Upon arrival on Sunday evening, we were seated promptly. It took over 5 minutes before our server showed up, even though the restaurant was more than half empty. Not bad but not great either. We all wanted beer, but she had to go check what exactly was available (there's only six!). We requested and received samples of two seasonal varieties that were not on the list and had replaced two of the list options. Appreciated that option. Took quite a while to get the beer.
AMBIANCE: We had a booth by the window. Nice view of the activity and lights on Main Street. Booth was comfortable. Restaurant has nice décor but nothing that is remarkable. Fairly nondescript.
TRUFFLE FRIES: The Green Room hails a national award for their Truffle Fries, so of course we ordered an $8 bowl for us to try. We all agreed that they are NOT worth the hype or price! They were lukewarm and on the greasy side. We all noted that they were limp and it seemed like they had been sitting for quite a while. They were sprinkled with parmesan cheese but we could not detect a "truffle element" that would make them stand out. All of us agreed afterwards that other places had much better fries and there was nothing exceptional about them at all, especially at the price asked. Certainly not worth any fuss.
ENTREES: We were all disappointed here too. Two members of our party had the meatloaf. Both commented that it had weak flavor, did not taste freshly made, and was tough, as if it had been reheated in a microwave. One other person had the crab cakes, which is one of his favorite foods. There were two in the order and they were large! However, he said they were among the poorest he had had anywhere. I ordered shrimp & grits and only ate half of it. Their recipe was disgusting to me. In a city and state known for this signature dish, these were about the worst I've had.
BOTTOM LINE: After we left the restaurant we discussed our experience and universally agreed that there was nothing that would give us cause to return. The quality at every step was below par, especially at the prices charged here. Far better options abound within just a few blocks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Olivia M.Greenville, SC36239313Sep 25, 2016
I was very impressed with the renovations. However, very said to see the local art removed. The decor is very moderate yet very 1920s like.
If you're a local and loved the truffle fries this place had before you will be extremely sad when you return. They no longer have them :( their fries now are thick hand cut fries.
I came for brunch and loved the Local Omlet. It was full of flavor and very well done but then again it's pretty hard to mess that up. I'm happy to see a new menu with a variety of options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Audrey G.Greenville, SC4236Jul 16, 2015
I took my boyfriend to dinner here as a gift for our anniversary thinking it would be great, however, I ever wrong. Our server was friendly but the food was horrible. We started off with mussels as an app, they were ok. Then, for dinner I ordered the scallops over asparagus risotto with a pomegranate purée.
My scallops tasted salty and had some awful blackish-gray juice that the chef tried to lie about being a color that happened when being cooked. Gross, it looked like metal from an old pan. The risotto was extremely salty & way over cooked...you actually had to cut it to take a bite--not at all how risotto should be prepared!
My boyfriend ordered the Crab Cakes entrée and let's just say, they were also salty and 80% filler barely any crab.
The restaurant had clumps of dust hanging onto the paneled curtains on the walls and it smelled moldy. I would never suggest this restaurant to anyone. Also, interestingly, I voiced my experience on their Facebook page and NO ONE from the management apologized talk about horrible management.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 1, 2015
I went to Green Room with a huge group for a Saturday brunch. We were all in town for a wedding, and needed a place to eat that was a) within walking distance of our hotel, b) able to seat a party of ten, and c) preferably not disgusting. The Green Room ended up being a great choice. We got a table that fit all our food and bodies, and the meal was pretty good.
The place was cute and comfortable, and we were all able to relax and catch up as we ate. Service was slightly awkward, but I think our large party size had something to do with that. There was a full bar, and I got my day started with a nice bloody mary. It was thick and spicy, and it cost a very reasonable $7. It had no garnish, even though I saw others around the dining room with olives. Maybe I had to ask, or maybe our waitress hated our table.
The food was solid. I ordered the Indian chicken salad sandwich with a side of shoestring fries. The sandwich cost $8 and the fries were included--I don't know if this is cheap for Greenville, but I thought it was a great deal. The fries were just okay, but I really liked the sandwich. The curried chicken salad was full of flavor, and hunks of walnut and raisin added nice textural contrast to the tender chicken. The chicken salad came on golden raisin bread with mango chutney, and the raisins and chutney added some pleasant sweetness to the sandwich. I ate half for brunch and saved the second half for my hangover the next day--it went down pretty easy both times. My husband got the French toast, made with fresh baguettes and served with cinnamon whipped cream, strawberries, bacon, and maple syrup. It was a tasty French toast.
I could see myself being a regular at the Green Room if I lived in Greenville, and would recommend it to anyone in search of a decent meal. The food is good, and it comes without hassle. My friends and I had a lovely time.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Nat C.Columbia, SC2679038Feb 24, 2016
Great spot downtown for dinner or a glass of wine. Menu is small but the do those things really well. Pricy, but you get what you pay for.
Here alone? Get a glass of wine and half priced apps during happy hour. Have a pal? Get the truffle fries, huge serving for $6.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
