This course was gorgeous!! Oxford Greens is a well maintained, scenic, and challenging course that has earned its reputation as one of top courses in the state!
Difficulty: 9/10 This is one of the more challenging courses in the state. Very narrow fairways & challenging greens, with lots of water features and thick brush.
Service: 10/10 There we're 2 cart girls when we played who came around frequently. They even provided the number for the cafe to pick up lunch at the turn- loved that!! Members of the pro shop were professional and courteous.
Price: $85-110/round. Affordable lunch, drinks, and snacks!
Pro Shop: 8/10 Lots to pick from here! They had awesome vest, quarter-zips, hats, and more! I was surprised with the lack of variety: no lefty clubs, very limited women's collection (gloves, shirts, skirts). Overall, we loved the way the logo looked on everything!
Pace of Play: 4 hours 30 minutes. I've played at Oxford Greens a few times now. Be prepared for slow play. They have a great starter who lets people out timely and rangers monitoring play. Seems as though things get slowed due to the difficulty of the course, nonetheless playing here is guaranteed to be a blast!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mike B.Shelton, CT102324Jul 13, 2023
For the price you think a GPS on the cart would be in order...you also might think they would have a starter at the first tee, maybe the tee boxes would be in decent shape, you might even expect the greens to not be all patchy or the rough to be consistently cut. You could assume the fairways would be beautifully maintained. When we checked in and asked the kid in the pro shop for a quick run down of the course (we never played there) , the only info we got was the first tee is across the road. No mention of the driving range, practice area, or any other info about the place. He should have told us to bring bug spray as it was like golfing in the Everglades.
It's a long challenging course, which must have been spectacular in it's day...but lack of maintenance, tones of residential construction and poor customer service make this place an overpriced, second rate option...IMOHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 16, 2023
Almost $100 for a weekend round, waiting on the group ahead and the amount of bugs all over the course can become annoying. Greens were punched and not smooth. Other than that Oxford is a challenging course and the starter was able to get us out a few minutes early. Easy online tee time reservations.

Rated one of the top public courses in CT. Hole 3 rated in 2022 by CSGA as the toughest in the state. Haven't played in 3 years and found the course in great shape, fairways and greens. Rambles amongst the Oxford condos, but they blend in well, and not a bother. Pro shop has been restored by new owners to its previous quality. Online reservations easy. Great putting area and grass driving range. Some of the negative reviews are quite old, and Oxford is in great shape and fun to play.

Oxford Greens is buzzinggg . Place is in awesome shape. Greens are rolling true. Always loved this course. I played baby fades all day, everyday and there is no place I'd rather do it.

One of the great things about OG was the vast amount of woodlands surrounding the course. Fast forward 10 years and 90% of it is gone, making way for hundreds of barracks style housing units. Not only are they extremely ugly, overdevelopment has ruined the course. It is now an army base / affordable housing development with a golf course in the middle.

Receive various emails canceling tee times, call four times to determine what is going on, only to be on hold for 10 minutes each call, cut off three times and end up talking to a moron. We generally play 30 or so courses in the area and this is by far the lest professional course of them all. All municipal courses we play put this one to shame. Wake up OG!!
May 15, 2011Previous reviewA well appointed course. It is well maintained and challenging. Price is a bit expensive and there are many other courses around that are as good and less expensive. Only issue i have noticed is that in some areas cracked stone lays just under the turf and most fairways fall off to the left. Has a nice bar / restaurant which is vacant most of the time. Seems to be a play and run course despite a large number of homes literally crammed every 15 feet around the course, unfortunately like a trailer park.

Checked in early for our tee time. Very much on your own after that. No scorecard on the first hole, no starter, no water. You are on your own. Very slow play, especially on a Fall afternoon. Nice public course but not in great shape. Beat by inconsiderate players!
Other better choices in CT. for sure.
(Restrooms were without soap and a few other players were without masks inside the pro shop)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Raymond B.Trumbull, CT206831Aug 7, 2019
Over the years I've played Oxford Greens many times and had always enjoyed the course and facility. However in the past few years it's become less and less desirable to play. To begin with they've overbuilt homes around the holes and taken away the feeling of playing on a wooded course. Course maintenance has fallen way off and they actually tell you the sand traps are unplayable and to take a free drop!!! The fairways are okay but no one repairs divots and you can find yourself in some pretty horrible lies.
With all that they still charge the regular greens fees. There are so many other nicer courses in the area so I don't think I'll be going back. Too bad because it's a great layout and challengeHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tommy B.Helsinki, Finland96232Oct 5, 2020
Course is good and challenging but that is the only good part. This course ran out of carts the last two times I've been here, infuriating their customers. We witnessed a man having a tantrum over this fact which was a little unsettling before teeing off for a round of golf. They need more carts, a starter and a ranger. We played a 5 hour and 15 minute round... terrible. I shot a 91 and made some good putts. Oh well. Probably won't play there again.

This golf shop is one of the best stocked golf shops I have ever been into. Ralph Lauren Polos and Sweaters, amazing Nike Golf shoes and Scotty Cameron PUTTERS!! The golf course itself was amazing and the greens rolled so true! Mike in tbe shop is as friendly as it gets and I can see why this course is top 5 in the state. Look forward to coming back in the summer!!
