The wifey and I decided to visit Manayunk with no plans, other than to walk around and eat. A quick search and The Goat's Beard was promising. As soon as I walked in I said, "Yup, this is our jam," and our jam it was. The ambiance was exactly what I look for when deciding were to nosh.
The bartender was very nice and attentive. She had that bar on lockdown; it wasn't long after we entered the facility that the place got busy. She handled it though.
The beer selection was decent but they did have a homemade IPA that was light, but delish. We weren't starving so we opted to share the pretzel bites and a kale salad. The pretzels were perfectly warm and perfect for dipping into the beer cheese...it was gooey and so great, I saved some to add to the chicken on my kale salad...I'm crazy like that. Now, I'm not one for ordering salads but this was, by far, one of the best salads I've tasted. The kale wasn't overly crunchy, but oddly tender, and definitely not soggy, and the blend of the dressing, butternut squash, raisins (or maybe they were craisins) and the bits of apples in there, amazing! The chicken was cooked really well...I recommend slopping some of the leftover beer cheese on there...so choice. The place got packed right when we finished. A true testament to a great bar! I will go back, but there are so many other places in Manayunk, it might not be right away. If you're in Manayunk on whim...this just might be your jam! Let's go.....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2024Updated review3 check-ins
The Goat's Beard in Manayunk is always a good time!
This is a go-to spot of mine and I leave with a full belly and happy heart! The vibe is bustling and the service is attentive and prompt!
The food continues to delight and the drinks are elevated and deliver flavor!Helpful 11Thanks 2Love this 11Oh no 0Feb 27, 2020Previous reviewI have visited this location in Manayunk many times and the location in Wayne a few times! I enjoy the vibe in Manayunk...Mood is def on 'chill'...if you come for a date--it has a romantic vibe as well...this is for the grown and sexy for sure...lol
I usually stop by the location in Manayunk for Happy Hour and late night dinner and snacks. The HH is from 4:30p-7p-cocktails and draft beers-$5; Beers-$6 red and white wines. There are also appetizer specials for $7!
The servers and bartenders are helpful and friendly !
The food is good and the prices are reasonable!
One of my recommendations is if you doubt what I am saying...start with the hummus (it is yummy) and go from to see if you'll stay to check out more dishes!
Overall...nice spot for drinks and food..enjoy your visit! - Feb 23, 20241 check-in
Great place with good service. Love the Taylor Swift themed sangria (Lovin him was red). The sangria was also unique and complex in all the flavors offered.
Banana bread pudding was really rich and dessert like. Husband enjoyed his breakfast wrap.
Nice clean bathrooms. Plenty of seating with a bar too. They take reservations.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 4, 2024
Stopped in here prime time on a Friday night. They didn't have any open tables at the time but me and my husband were able to grab a seat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly; especially for a busy Friday night. We started with the TBG Nuggets as an app. They have a little kick but so good...they're a must order! I stepped outta my normal comfort zone and got the shrimp & grits for dinner. The grits were so good & cheesy.

We visited the Goats Beard in Wayne once again and once again wasn't disappointed! The Friendly Neighbor was friendlier than by before ( such a great drink) . The mussels were great especially the Trippy mussels! Can't wait until next time!

Great happy hour. The cheesesteak egg rolls and ricotta toast were amazing. Will definitely be getting the sangria again.

We love the goats beard! A great spot in manyunk for a nice dinner and good cocktails. There isn't much variety food wise but you cannot go wrong with the deep dish pizza, in my opinion best in manyunk and also try their chicken nuggets type dish for an appetizer. They have options for you to sit inside and outside which is great on a busy afternoon. Highly recommend paying them a visit!

I've been to The Goat's Beard several times now and it doesn't disappoint. The food is excellent, the service is awesome and the ambience depends on when you're visiting. I love that it's a smaller establishment on Main Street but serving up really great flavor profiles all across the board. 10/10 and will be back for more to come!

Service can get a bit slow if the place is packed, but the servers and hosts are attentive and welcoming. Their playlist is also pretty good. General vibe is casual but with semi-refined bar food.
I've tried a couple apps and entrees and all of them were tasty and well-portioned - albeit kinda expensive (standard Manayunk). The only menu item I'd change is the Korean cauliflower; while it arrived piping hot, the batter lacked some crispiness. Nonetheless I'd rate the food a 4.5/5.
If you're looking for a non-alcoholic drink, I highly recommend their mojito which only runs you $3-4. Much cheaper than alcohol.
Now, this place has a unique, 2-person indoor seating section comprising a tall table, stool, and wooden bench. As someone who's 5'3, I was on the struggle bus for choosing to sit on the bench; not only is it way too high but it also lacks any sort of foothold to boost yourself. There's no elegant way to hop up/down from it. Interestingly, it makes you seated higher up than the person on the stool - so a shorter person may enjoy the bench for shifting the height power dynamic. However, this is at the expense of bad posture and neck-craning.
Keep in mind they automatically add 18-20% gratuity.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
