Wanted a quick grab and go lunch while in the area during work. Conveniently located near the subway stop, doling out items ranging from coffee to empanadas. A few tables inside which isn't too comfortable for dine-in eating (take out is the best option).
No line to speak of on a Tuesday afternoon, so quickly ordered the Spinach Pie ($7) and a 16oz. Lemonade w/ginger ($4). Pie gets microwaved and I'm out the door in 5 minutes. Lemonade is refreshing and well balanced with the ginger, but there was a lot of added ice which took away from the amount I had to drink. As for the pie, the heat drained off a bit by the time I got to my desk 8 minutes later. The bottom was soggy and the flavor wasn't there. Would have been way better if it was toasted to keep that crisp exterior.
As an option for a quick bite, it's fine. Normally come here for a quick coffee and will probably stick to that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 15, 2016
I found a gem of a coffee shop here.
Ambiance: Nice and cozy with about 6 tables and 12 seatings. Wooden table and decor with fun quotes frames hanging on the wall. It makes an interesting conversation topics!
Menu: homemade pies and sweets including cookies, mini brownies and red velvet & cream cookie!
Don't forget their famous lemonade and coconut lattes.
Coffee: coconut lattes. What a unique smooth feel to the normal lattes. You can chew little bits of coconut shredded in your latte. Very smooth velvety texture!

Breakfast empanadas? Yes, please! Egg, Spinach, Feta for the vegetarian. Egg, Ham, Cheese for the meat lover. Apple pie for a sweet finish- $13 for 3 Empanadas. They take time to heat them up in an oven, so plan to wait about 7min after you order for a super fresh hot pocket of deliciousness. Overheard after ordering: that 20oz latte has 4 espresso shots- feel like bouncing off the walls today?

HI.
I've been trying iced coffee and cold brews all around me. I don't add sugar/sugar water or milk/creamer to any of my drinks. I like my coffee black! This place is delicious. The coffee is absolutely amazing. I've also just tried an empanada. Broccoli and mozzarella. The most delicious empanada I've had. Thank you! I'll be back again soon!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elaine H.New York, NY119217465633Aug 7, 2016
Signature drink - coconut latte. Ok hands down.
With at most four small tables, Frog's crown definitely kept the crown of serving the best empanadas in the city. Ham and potatoes, cheese, you name it! Barista would help heat it up so that you could enjoy a flawless bite. Saw everyone having at least one empanada on the table, probably I should get one as well...
As for my coconut drink, hmm I liked the flavor of coconut being carefully blended into the latte; however the coconut flake was kind of annoying that I felt like it was some sort of powder that failed to be absorbed. A bit weird...Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2016
The theme of this cafe is so adorable! So many crowns, and frogs, and frogs in crowns everywhere!!
I wanted to try something a little different, so I asked the barista what coffee drink they were known for. He recommended the coconut latte - and although I've never been a huge fan of coconuts, I decided why not! It's the new year anyway, I should try something new.
Well, be forewarned. It's not your typical latte. Per the barista, it is made of coconut milk, coconut water, and a shot of espresso. He did NOT tell us that there would also be coconut chunks and flakes floating around in the drink! Don't assume that you'll be able to just take a huge swig of your latte, because I promise you, you will choke on something. (We forgot to warn our friend and when she had a taste of mine, she was sputtering and coughing for a good minute.) My verdict? It's interesting, but I'm not sure it was worth the hefty price ($5.99 for a large). It was also really bizarre having to chew pieces of coconut in between mouthfuls of coffee...
I'm not sure what the typical clientle looks like, but I must say that this particular cafe seems to attract a very eccentric group of individuals, at least when we were there. The place is also really, really tiny - like 5-6 tables worth - so it probably isn't the best place to have really personal conversations..
PSA. If you need the bathroom, there is one behind the counter. Let the barista know and they will let you back there. The bathroom was a lot more spacious (and clean!) than I expected. :)Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - L T.Old Bridge Township, NJ318598Sep 17, 2015
After reading the reviews, I said I would give it a try. I had the spinach egg and feta cheese empanada. I had the counter person heat it up. I really wasn't impressed. I love seasoning and it boy did this need some, didn't have to be salt because of the cheese but it needed some tlc, not to mention it was dry.
Wasn't a fan of the almond croissant either, it was wheat...just reminded me of some type of almond paste sandwich.
The counter woman was very pleasant and accommodating. Clean inside, 6 small tablesHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - JuanCarlos P.Hollywood, FL190101Feb 2, 2017
Absolutely incredible coffee, but what steals the show are the Empanadas. Aside from having an amazing variety, they were delicious! We had the ground beef/ spinach, egg, and Cheese/Egg, cheese and bacon and topped it all off either the Caramel and Mozzarella.
A little tip, they have a secret coconut hot sauce that pairs with every single empanada. Insane flavor!
Quality food, great coffee and amazing service!

Met a friend here during a break in his workday. We grabbed coffee and empanadas from Frog's crown, and walked a little around SoHo afterwards with food and drink in hand. The coffee shop is tiny (SoHo real estate being expensive, most likely) but had a steady trickle of customers during the time we were there ordering and waiting for our order. We got the cheese empanada, chicken empanada, and the ham one - my favorite was the ham one, but honestly having something piping hot and made to order (and cheap, too for SoHo!) while drifiting around an iconic NY neighborhood was really nice. Not enough seating to actually work in the café, but enough to sit around while you wait for your order. Coffee was average, but I would come back here for empanadas in the future!

My husband and I were in the area, and we saw The Frog's Crown out of the corner of our eye. It seemed like a cute place - limited seating within, with small tables and stools (sort of cramped). The staff here was very friendly and so sweet, including the manager. They were happy to offer their suggestions and recommendations, and were patient when you decide what to order. Their menu offers a variety of items, such as quiches, empanadas, homemade pies, croissants, muffins, scones, cookies, and hot/cold beverages. I picked up a few different kinds of empanadas, such as the Cubana Gourmet Empanada (with pork, ham, and cheese; forgettable), Pizza Gourmet Empanada (mozzarella, tomato, and basil; least of my favorites, as it was literally just a mound of mozzarella cheese with a sliver of tomato sauce), Cheeseburger Gourmet Empanda (ground beef and cheese; the ground beef needed more seasoning and/or garlic), Ground Beef and Chili Gourmet Empanada (my favorite out of them all), and a Traditional Chicken empanada (filled with chunks of chicken meat; tasted like chicken soup in a thicker crust). I also ordered their signature drink, the Coconut Latte. I was not a fan of the Coconut Latte, as the latte itself was not strong, and there were just tons of coconut shavings within - it basically tasted like boiled water with coconut bits. I would love to come back and try out their other baked goods as well as their other beverages.
