Step into the world of an authentic, nineteenth-century Turkish restaurant and coffeehouse, where you can taste traditional dishes prepared by our celebrated chef Mr. Cebrail Demirtas; sip a narghileh (water pipe) after you've finished your last bite of our rich and delicious homemade Baklava. The Flying Carpet Turkish Café is located in a restored 1909 bungalow, which was completely built of the now almost extinct longleaf pine, at the corner of Washington and West Magnolia Avenues, on the edge of the historic Fairmount neighborhood. The original ambience of the house has been preserved and enhanced with antiques from the Ottoman Empire, making you feel you've traveled overseas to a small cosmopolitan café somewhere in the Levant.…

Yelp says 3 starts is "A-OK," which I don't exactly agree with here, but the food was good. So, I'm not going to go less than 3.

I started with the Meze Sampler. It was good. I liked most everything on the plate. I followed that up with the Flatiron Steak. The steak was good. I wasn't real wild about the green puree stuff they drizzled on it and the meat was more medium well vs. medium. But, the steak had a good overall flavor to it and it seemed to be a quality cut of meat. I ended the meal with some baklava which was also good. Actually, it was some of the best baklava I've had.

With all of that said, it seems like it should be rated higher than a 3, right? Well, the Turkish tea came out in a TINY glass (I've seen bigger shot glasses) for $2.50. The overall meal (excluding tip) was $50 or more and the portion sizes (especially the entree) seemed small for what you paid.

Was the food good? Yes. Was it worth what I paid? I don't think so. Would I go back? Probably not, not even if someone else were buying..

I love Turkish food.....I was looking forward to trying this place when a client recommended we meet them there....
So we drove out to meet them there and wow the decor is awesome actually I loved it....
The host/waiter was really nice and easy going, cordial and attentive.
It's in a hipster type area of town with bars and a lot of independent stores nearby....
A bit pricey for what you get and the food wasn't bad....tasty and good.
Compared to a lot of other similar type restaurants they give less food though for what you pay...

Hands down this was one of the most beautiful cafes I've been too! Came here for a birthday dinner and it really was special. The waitresses are super helpful if you're curious about the menu. Coffee was good too!

This place is really good and a cool experience. The food is authentic, not too fancy but very enjoyable. I enjoyed the entire thing. They are severely understaffed right now and it may take awhile for service but just be patient. It's BYOB. Have some drinks and give the sweet owner a break. Seems like he's doing it all himself and supporting small business in times like these is so important.

      Praise:
Incredible interior, wall decor, seating. Authentic, fresh, impressive food quality! Really love that this restaurant is making it through COVID. I can't wait to try more of their dishes. Soup and appetizers exceeded expectations and were so fresh and memorable.

      Suggestions:
It would add a great amount of ambiance if the music was turned up a little bit and if the blinds weren't all of the way closed on all windows. It can make people feel claustrophobic and the setting too dark.

This is a wonderful place...an old house converted to a Turkish eatery. Some folks don't care for lamb, but it has a scarce vitamin B-22, just saying...the place is BYOB but you could stop by Grand Cru, 5 blocks away, on the way for a nice red. There are other meats on the menu, but I had a good plate of chopped lamb in a tomato base with a side of rice. Good menu selections with explanations of the Turkish names. Food is excellent as was the service. Nice homey decor and comfortable. Unfortunately I was too full for dessert, maybe next time. Turkish coffee is also available for those who can take the caffeine at dinner time.

      Highly recommend this establishment!

My family hosted an amazing graduation lunch here a few weeks ago. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful with the menu. She recommended how many appetizers for the table and what ones were her favorite: hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves and acili ezme.

Spoiler Alert: They were all crowd pleasers, and completely eaten up!

After that, we moved onto the main dishes where everyone picked the lunch specials of their liking: Adana Kebab, Chicken Kebab Wraps, Falafel, Döner (Gyro) and much more.

Spoiler Alert: There was not an unhappy face, or completely stuffed belly after the meal was through!

Their kind words of the lunch did not stop there, though. A week later, they each reached out to say what a unique dining experience it had been because of the atmosphere: a log cabin filled with beautiful and colorful rugs hanging on the walls.

Spoiler Alert: It's pretty neat! When you walk in, you'll instantly feel like you're transported to another world.

Over decorated with smelly carpets. Service is below average especially around lunch time, and the ambiance is what u make out of it. The food is below turkish standards that are offered in DFW.

An amazing change up tonight with Turkish food found in downtown Fort Worth at The Flying Carpet. Thanks to a local friend for this great suggestion. We had not had this cuisine once since moving to TX 8 months ago. A welcomed change of good eats! And you can BYOB to this place also! I got to chat with Cebrial the 34 year tenure head chef of this restaurant. Interesting guy for sure. Its been in its current spot for 6 years and going he says, I dont see it going away anytime soon. I loved my lamb dish and my gf loved her beef stuffed grape leaves. Authentic food, good service, big portions and fast service. At 9pm on a Friday night the place was not too busy at all so no worry about rsvp needs or long waits at all.
