New owners, new menu, new chapter in the long history. We had a great experience. The owner seated us and was most welcoming and pleased to talk about the improvements and future plans. The main dining room with bar has had some slight changes giving it a more open feel, but without losing any of the historic atmosphere. I like it.
Menu has been pared down, includes weekly specials and has three cuts of steak on offer. I was interested to try the pork ribeye but had to express my concern about pork being overdone. The chef came out to discuss- he promised me the most tender, juiciest pork I've ever had in a restaurant. I accepted the challenge and he nailed it. Best pork EVER. He said it took him three years to perfect the method. I would highly recommend this dish, if you like pork it'll knock your socks off. My husband had the chicken Florentine which was also tender and delicious.
Before the mains we took advantage of happy hour and got the Pretzel. So good, and it's huge. Soft as butter inside and a perfect lightly crisp deep fried exterior with plenty of salt. I actually liked the queso better than the beer cheese for dipping but that's me. Honestly, I am a New Yorker so I would adore this Pretzel with spicy brown mustard.
We were checked on several times. All the staff were very polite. We will return.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Aug 15, 2022Previous reviewWe've dined here several times; four or possibly five. I really loved the first visit, everything clicked, the steak was excellent, and we were fortunate to be waited on by Kaylee. She is, I would say, the head waitress, very polished and professional and enthusiastic. After she delivered our drinks, she said she'd be right back with some bread. And she was, and oh my, fresh hot tender little rolls with cinnamon butter. Replenished on request. More on that later.
Bar is big and beautiful and antique. We sat in a booth nearby. Eclectic music mix from mid century on, different genres, all soothing. Louder than typical background but it was good. The atmosphere is truly charming in the historic old building. Five stars for the look and feel and the cozy seating. But..
Be aware this is not a steakhouse. They do offer steaks, but you don't expect wings, chicken chunks and tacos on a steakhouse menu, now do you? The only thing 'steakhouse ' about the Florentine is the outrageously high prices. I am not one to whine about price but in this case it's warranted. They've just raised them again, too.
Subsequent visits brought the realization that the food is good but not great, or if it's very good the portions are small and you feel somehow cheated. On our third visit we were almost done with our salads and I called the waitress (not Kaylee) to say, hey don't you still have that wonderful bread? The response- "we only bring it if you ask for it." But they don't offer it? I asked her sincerely if she didn't think it would be the right thing for her to ask us if we wanted any. She just stared. This last visit, the latest new waitress didn't offer, nor did she tell us there were specials. I found out when I overheard Kaylee describe specials to another table (who also had bread).
I especially recommend you avoid the 'filet tips' which are overpriced scraps in an unappetizing sauce, and the laughable celery, carrots and blue cheese side which was pre-cut supermarket quality and the celery wasn't thoroughly scraped.
Such a quaint and charming atmosphere though. Might stop in to try one of the delectable-looking desserts and/or have a cocktail at the bar, but I believe we are dropping the Florentine from the dinner rotation. - Good G.Fort Lauderdale, FL1174153Dec 9, 2023Updated review
12.8.23 New Owners. New menu. Sadly the food is now below average.
This is the place that we would come for dinners and drinks. A place to bring the whole family to sit in the back room and have a family meal together. Now it's mostly burgers... which they don't even do well.
What about drinks? You need a bartender that can make them. Mine was not good. Repeat customers are hard to come by unless you do a good job
Frankly if I want a burger I'll go to Laughts or another spot.
Florentine Hotel needs to have a real chef and a great menu. You guys better Do Better Or you won't last

The landmark historical building is quirky and cool it's a must stop and they have party rooms available for groups too. - Mar 3, 2024
Overall, the experience was great! The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly! The building is from the 1800's and they still have it set up to kind of feel that way which I appreciate! They are currently fixing up the 3rd floor to open up rooms again as it was a hotel at some point. We had the ribeye, mac and cheese, green beans, wings, lava cake, salmon, and a couple sandwiches and everyone said their food was really good! We'll definitely be back.

We have been going to the Florentine for years and was a little apprehensive about new owners. The new owner was extremely personable and checked on all the tables and answered customer's questions. The waitstaff were very polite and did a great job. We love the new layout with it seeming more open, but keeping the historical feel. Our food was delicious and the beer selection was very good. One of our favorite places!

Saturday my hubs and I decided to go to a local restaurant in Germantown. We had been in the past and wanted to eat local. The restaurant is in a former hotel circa 1882. Very cool building. Love the hardwoods the beams. Makes for a nice ambiance. Took a bit for someone to come to the table. Ordered stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. Stuffed with sausage and cheese although it had a taste similar to sausage gravy. Only cheese I tasted was the Parmesan on top. For our entrees i had fish and chips and the hubs had a burger with cheese and mushrooms is a merlot reduction sauce. He ordered medium it came pretty well done. His side was sweet potato casserole which was quite brown but he said tasted better than it looked. My fish was way over cooked. A bit dry is an understatement. Appeared to be cooked in very old oil. The fries were quite tasty and has a great seasoning on them. Our server was nice but a bit slow. All and all I don't think we will return. Price was average. Not overpriced at all. I really enjoy local, maybe we just caught them on a bad day.

Stopped in one evening with some family while visiting my father. We had an assortment of meals in our group of 8. We had steaks, ribs, wings burgers and oh hell yes the desserts.
The steak was as good or better than the steak I had last month at Peter Lugers in New York. The ribs were flavorful and well prepared. The burgers simply cannot be beat.
The desserts however were I. A league of their own. The banana dessert my father had was off the carts good and don't even think about ordering anything without the ice cream too.

I guess small town hospitality equates to making customers sit for 40 minutes before taking their orders. Literally, we didn't even get water for 40 minutes. We witnessed an extremely rude owner/manager treat both customers and and employees with extreme disrespect. It almost appeared like he was drunk. It's amazing anyone sticks around to work there. After apologies from a very sweet server for the slow service we decided to stick it out. Big mistake! After waiting another 30 minutes for our orders to be prepped, the meat was dry, the sides tasteless, and most items were ridiculously overpriced.
Before writing this review, I read the owner's responses to other bad reviews. CLEARLY, he has no idea how to run a service based business. I honestly feel sorry for the employees, and I'm sure they aren't laughing. If they are rolling their eyes, it's because they have to work for such an unprofessional human being. The responses to reviews are unapologetic, brash, entitled, and rude. Read them for yourself. This place has potential, but the management needs a serious lesson in basic customer service, basic leadership, and basic humility. We will not be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marc T.San Francisco, CA03Dec 31, 2023
My wife and I had the Bourbon glaze Salmon tonight and both meals were perfect! We've eaten here several times and the food and service gets better every time. We'll be regulars!

Hubby & I went here for the first time. We were seated immediately & our server took our drink order of a Coca-Cola $2.75 (hubby)& a glass of water (mine). The water tasted like a chlorinated swimming pool which was disgusting. I ordered the 1/4 lb burger for $8.99 which did NOT include a side. I opted to pay $3.99 for a side of onion rings. Hubby got fish & chips (Orange roughy) $13.99. He paid $2.99 for an additional side of coleslaw. Our server was polite but service was slower than it should have been & it took awhile to get our food. Eventually our plates arrived piping hot. My burger & onion rings were average. Hubby said the fish was good, fries were average & the coleslaw was below average - too much vinegar. For dessert, we split a piece of chocolate cake which was a small piece but decadent. This restaurant is average but prices are high. The quality of food is not worth it.
