Love this place! I travel to Lexington, SC for work and come to this place from time to time. Fresh food, feels like you're eating at Grandmas. Produce is awesome too!

We dined at the "Farmers' Shed" the first time back in 2012 when hubby and I still lived in Columbia, SC. We loved their sweet tea and just about everything they made. Since moving to Chicago, we have been missing this little restaurant tucked behind the farmers' market in Lexington.

We were finally here in 2017. We had the "lemon herb chicken" and "chicken & dumplings," part of the Monday specials. We also had the mac & cheese, broccoli casseroles (MUST ORDER) and green beans as the sides. Please, please get the cornbread! Their cornbread is to die for!

Everything we had was well-seasoned. The service was super on-point. The lady in the house never stopped topping off our cups. OMG...I have not had this much sugar for awhile. For $9.95 (1 meat and choices of 2 sides), our stomachs were filled to the brim.

Unfortunately, southern-style cuisine, for the most part, is not vegetarian/vegan friendly. Otherwise, an individual without a dietary restriction should be able to enjoy delicious good with great southern hospitality.

They do accept credit cards, just in case you are wondering. Hubby and I would like to take a walk at their market place. Well, maybe next time...I need a nap now.

Guy Fieri fans, so we had to try The Farmer's Shed. What a pleasant discovery!
Delicious home cooked food and such a great variety. Hubby had
Thursday's special - Meatloaf with gravy and I had the Cranberry Pork Chop. We selected, Fried Green Tomatoes, Collards, Mac & Cheese, Cornbread Salad and Tomato, Cucumber & Feta Salad and, of course the Skillet Cornbread as our sides - Yum, yumlicious!!
Wanted to take a Tomato Pie home from their freezer, but since they were on vacation last week, hadn't stocked up, yet. No problem - have another glass of ice tea, and 15 minutes later a fresh tomato pie was made just for us. How's that for customer service?!
Everybody is so super nice and friendly - by the time we left, we felt like part of the family. We will be back for sure!
Update: On March 17, 2017 the Farmer's Shed restaurant closed, but their market part is still open. Sad!!

Great find in Lexington!! A host of items on the menu, offering something for the whole family. If U like country comfort food, U have found the place. We were seated in a timely manner, food came out hot and delicious. Sweet tea jus the bomb, jus like I like it! Hostess friendly and informative. The restaurant was clean and tidy, having plenty seating. After lunch we bought food and groceries from the them for the next day. Lots of take home bake items to choose from along with cakes and pies. I have found a slice of haven, prices are very reasonable.

We will certainly be returning soon and would recommend this facility.

Tuesday's and Friday's are the best day of the week. As a southerner born and raised in South Carolina, I have to side with the country fried steak on Tuesdays. Thank god for a restaurant where you can get some good country fried steak but I'm also here to recommend the Friday special- Jefferson chicken. The chicken is stuffed with a mushroom pilaf and it's one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. Both dishes are highly recommended with any of the side dishes at this restaurant. Proud to see a local shop get travelers from all over! Be sure to pop inside and check out the map and add a pin to show where you're visiting from and have a glance of the Guy Fieri poster from when he filmed his homegrown and homemade episode!

So we hopped in the car and drove 2 hours to one of the area's DDD joints. Our first discovery was that this Dive is best enjoyed three seasons (spring, summer, fall), and we were here during the fourth - Our bad. With that we can dismiss comments on decor and ambiance as this is really an outdoor / front porch joint at heart, and is not suited for the winter months.

Service was awesome. Five stars. Quick, polite, and welcoming. Despite being down a server for the day, our waitress was on top of things and very attentive. She enjoys her work and that makes all the difference in the world.

Food was good - not great, but good. Four stars. We had the pork chop and the Jefferson chicken. The chop was amazing - well seasoned, cooked to perfection, and served timely. The chicken was rather ordinary - But it was homely like something my mother would've made. And it was fresh, delicious, tender and tasty!

The sides were a mix. Casseroles (we had the tomato cheddar and the squash) were awesome (really) but cold (really?). The mac-n-cheese (a point of pride for most joints like this) was pretty mediocre. The green beans were tasty. And the cornbread - a standard setter.

Lastly, the Tea was spot on and the coconut cake was very good. Recommended.

Presentation was sub-par. Two stars. I couldn't get past the styrofoam plates and plastic flatware - ok for a BBQ Dive or a drive in but unexpected for a homey joint like this. Plates were too small, tables sized more for a French cafe, and you might want to use the restroom before you come.

All in we enjoyed the food and the experience enough to go back if we're in the area, but not enough to make a special trip again.

The food was great and the pricing was good as well. I came here with my family at the end of the lunch rush on a Thursday and it was not long before we sat that the server came by to take our order. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food for the day. Two of us ordered the fish with two sides and we lucked out to have gotten Catfish that was still from the Tuesday menu. It was really good and my parents said they would go back again just because of that. The portioning of the food was good and everyone of us left there full. I even got a piece of apple pie and a jar of honey to go. When I come to visit again I hope to be able to make it back here again, because the shrimp and grits on Friday sound really good.

Overall the place was clean and small but cozy like. The people sitting next to us mentioned that this restaurant was featured on the food network 5 years ago and they deserve to be. I was very happy to have picked this place as the only restaurant that I ate at while on my trip from California to visit my family.

What a great stop! It's never going to be a weekly visit but it's a good once in a while kind of place. It is pricey but the portions are huge. The menu never changes so if you like the offerings on s certain day they seem to stick with what works. Worth at least one visit.

I have to wonder if the DDD bias is weighing in a little bit here (like it does at other DDD locales I've eaten at). Don't get me wrong, the food was ok, but just ok; definitely not 5, or even 4, stars.

I went with the intentions of getting shrimp 'n grits, since it was a Friday, but the waitress talked me into getting the Jefferson chicken instead. On the side I got mac 'n cheese (I can't pass up mac 'n cheese) and cornbread salad with a slice of cornbread. The chicken breast turned out quite dry and the 'stuffing' was quite subtle in flavor; bland, even. Olive oil was the prominent flavor in this entree. The mac 'n cheese was pretty good and piping hot. The cornbread stuffing and cornbread itself was decent.

Then I decided to try the desert and opted for the 'chocolate delight'. It was nothing more than chocolate pudding (the flavor of which was identical to Jell-O pudding) layered with vanilla pudding, whipped cream and chopped pecans.

With desert and water it came out to nearly $13.

Then we loaded up in the truck to head back to the office and, before we even left the parking lot, all 3 of us were hit with the urgency to "get back", if you know what I mean... The drive to downtown Cola was an especially long one...

Had to find my way to this place after seeing it on Drive-ins and Dives also.

It was some goooooood eaten! I went on a Thursday which makes it either Pot Roast day or Turkey and Dressing day! I went Turkey and Dressing with Mac & Cheese and Greens. All of it top notch...I dare say best Turkey and Dressing I've had.

This was my first try with Greens and they where pretty darn good also. This place is worth the drive outside of Columbia to get there. I'll make sure to go back.

Tip: Don't be in a hurry to eat and run...that ain't their style and the service is laid back country style!

Don't judge the barn by its covers because it was as good as Mr Friendly's price-adjusted.

We came with a group of five at about 45minutes till closing. They had our orders served within 10 minutes. As a environmental Canadian, I was disappointed with the Styrofoam cups of water and plastic utensil we were provided.

Besides that, I would highly recommend the corn souffle. The deep fried catfish was already all gone. Two of our guests were provided smaller portions of chicken pot pie than expected and the pre-made corn bread, rewarmed in a microwave, was dry but tasted homemade. For the price of $11-12, this was a superb dinner.
