Wow, excellent food, everything is tasty, freshly made and healthy. I tried the Shakshouka today and it was really delicious -and the amount of bread they give you with it is ample.
Excellent sandwich; nice low key interior; and the counter lady was very professional (wiping the table as I was sitting down, and saying 'thank you for your patience' when there was a lunch rush.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 250739852Nov 16, 2014
Generally, I scope Yelp reviews to decide if I will go to a new place. This location had me on the fence, but based on a few good reviews from Yelpers like Alex, Vi and Christine, I think this place on a Sunday morning is a good, solid, choice.
When I walked into the store, it smelled like homemade baking. Yum on a cold morning. The menu was quite detailed for juices and smoothies, and, they had espresso drinks, too. Add in soy milk for 50 cents more, but still, a large latte is very reasonably priced. In this area, the only other option is Starbucks, but if you walk ¼- 1/2 mile, you'll find a lot more.
Again, great choices and reasonably priced. As others have mentioned, you can ask for an addition or subtraction of items. The juices looked more interesting than the smoothies - the green drink was delicious. I went for the 20 oz., and I was not disappointed. Check-in for a $2 savings!
This has the look and feel of a small, owner-operated store and a local business. I hear what the other reviewers said, and it's a shame that clients felt disrespected or unwelcome. When I was there, the owner walked in and greeted me, tidied up some newspapers, chatted with his staffer, and seemed pleasant.
Since it's by PSU, I wonder if the market would allow for some vegan and/or gluten free baked goods, almond milk and organic offerings? I liked the agave nectar for fixings. The daily specials said vegan lentil soup! Cool!
Fun to drop by here for a surprisingly good juice, maybe right after the art museum, too?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rae E.Hillsboro, OR3851198Jul 23, 2016
This sweet little place is located close to Portland State, and the owner and employees are always welcoming and friendly. The pastries are (all or mostly) baked in house, and they vary daily. I've tried a raspberry and white chocolate scone that is to die for, and a poppyseed scone with the most delicious drizzle of icing on top.
I can't speak to the quality of the juices, as I've never tried them myself, but the lunch options are delicious and budget friendly. The mozzarella, tomato, and basil panini is flavorful and bursting with cheesy goodness.
The coffee isn't amazing, but it does the trick when I'm rushing to class and I need that extra kick of caffeine and warmth.
There's wifi and there always seems to be enough seating if you want to relax and hang out for a little while. Altogether, a friendly neighborhood spot to grab a bite or a drink!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jae S.Sacramento, CA704365May 31, 2018
Love this place and their bento boxes--all of which are $7-$9! Haven't tried any of their juices or smoothies yet (only because I'm not the type of person to spend money on drinks over food) but their dishes are fresh, delicious and affordable!

Super cute little juice bar with coffee options. Came in on a Sunday and I think only one person was working so service was a bit slow. Didn't mind too much though because even though she was busy she was very polite and cheerful, gave us the extras from the juice I ordered as well. I got the "pink lady" which was carrot, peach and pineapple: super refreshing and yummy. My cousin got the lemon, strawberry, lemon banana smoothie which she said was delicious as well. Someone near us ordered oatmeal and it smelled divine, maybe someday when I'm back in Portland I'll have to give that a try too.

Juice bars are few and far-between here in PDX. And until the relatively recent openings of Kure, Canteen, and Sip, they were even more scarce. Energy Bar has held strong in its little spot over near PSU, fronting up to the park blocks. I've been to this spot on and off throughout the years to score fresh veggie juices, smoothies, and healthy eats. It's a welcome relief amongst the relative dead zone up in that sector of SW.
This little juice bar sits in a tiny, dated, corner spot on Clay kicking out a variety of veggie and fruit juices, smoothies, and various healthy bites. I usually only go for the juices here, which trend toward very simple combinations like carrot, beet and spinach, and they have wheatgrass shots available as well. Juices are available in 12, 16, and 20oz, and are fairly priced for the size. Everything is made fresh to order, raw and unpasteurized.
There are a few small tables in this space and the free wifi is decently reliable, so if you need to laptop it up, you can. There's at least one table next to an outlet, but it seems to be claimed every time I'm in there.
Yay for juice!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Kerri G.Montville, NJ26317404Mar 10, 2017

Nothing fancy, just came here for a juice and took it to go so not much else to say!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alex B.Portland, OR358418113Oct 4, 2014
They don't market themselves especially well, but Energy Bar is great at what they do. If you're looking for a juice bar near PSU, this is really your only option.
Despite being conveniently located right off the South Park Blocks, this place is easy to miss. The physical space is nothing special... dark and outdated. But the juice speaks for itself. I recommend the Charlie Parker, but you really can't go wrong with any of their juice combinations. Staff is really good about customizing drinks, so if you want to add some kale or leave out the ginger, just ask.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matthew B.Portland, OR134Aug 16, 2015
