I had a good experience working with Kellee. Her advice was useful, and the help she provided resolved my concerns in a timely manner. I am very grateful for her assistance.

There are not enough words in the English dictionary to describe how abhorrent this law firm is. Whether it is on this site or others, it is so obvious that they consistently rate themselves, I don't care what they say. I attempted to rate them once and I received an email that my post was removed, when I wasn't violent in any way. I promise you that they will overcharge you like crazy - I was charged $15,000 simply for an assessment of my case, that is ridiculous, when most firms charge $5,000 or less. Before submitting my payment, Oswald stated to me that the opposition "was likely to settle" when this was all sweet talk to get my money. And for all the talk about Oswald being a good attorney, they even filed the wrong claims in a basic employment matter! I could go on and on, but TRUST ME, if you do it you are going to regret it.

I contacted this firm regarding a legal matter. Originally I was quoted a fee between $300-$400 for an initial consultation.I ended up calling back because another firm referred me.Thank goodness the fee was waived prior to speaking to an attorney because I was referred. I would have been even more devastated that I would have wasted my hard earned money. To actually believe that a reputable attorney would charge a fee for a 7 minute conversation is pathetic. There was no advice given from the attorney Principal Attorney Nick Woodfield nor concerns related to my case that may be faced etc. He failed to even ask me any questions that I may have yet quoted an astronomical figure to represent me. I truly am saddened and disappointed at the results when this firm was highly referred.I had read the reviews and was happy that I thought I found help but that was not the case. Be very careful to all the potential future clients.

I received a thoroughly professional intake and consultation about my case. After submitting a comprehensive file of my case, the attorney reviewed and provided me with possible options going forward, never "selling" to me but representing with honesty and compassion, what the financial and personal costs would be to me.
I received true legal counseling, with compassionate and honest evaluation of my case, which allowed me to make the best decision for me and my family.
I would recommend ELG unconditionally and wholeheatedly.

      Updated review

A couple of weeks after posting my review, The Employment Law Group's General Counsel, Nicholas Woodfield, contacted me to better understand my case and experience with TELG. We made a telephone appointment and Nick did seem genuinely interested in my feedback, specifically:

      1) the significant discrepancy between Managing Principal Scott Oswald's verbal analysis of my case (the lawyer who was assigned to review TELC's opinion letter with me and answer any questions that I had) and Michael Vogelsang, the lawyer assigned to my case after I decided to engage TELC, and 2) the lack of transparency about what ended up being the total cost of TELG's investigation phase.

On the first point, after I had the chance to explain details about Scott Oswald's and Michael Vogelsang's presentations to me about my potential case, and that these were not simply "different approaches" to the same issue, Mr. Woodfield took my concerns seriously. In particular, he appreciated the feedback that the attorney assigned to litigate my case should have been the one to review the opinion letter with me, or at least invited to the phone meeting to participate in answering my questions at that stage. Mr. Woodfield did mention at the outset of our phone call that he had spoke to both lawyers before our conversation, and that I did have a viable case if I chose to take it forward.

On the second point, Mr. Woodfield also took this feedback in a constructive way. The investigation phase that is so well laid out on TELG's website was thorough, well explained and professionally done. However, the billing and ultimate cost of the investigation "package" (which includes a TELG fellow and several external consulting firms that TELG employs) could be more transparent, providing the client (me) with a realistic estimate of the total cost, including feedback in advance if it looked like the details of my particular case would hit the high end, or even surpass what was listed in my investigation engagement letter as a range of $8,000 - $17,000.

I believe that Mr. Woodfield and TELG agreed that overall communication should be improved and that as a client, some of the communication with me needed to be more professional. Although I was not expecting any refund, TELG offered to reimburse me $10,000 and did so within a week of my conversation with Mr. Woodfield. This gesture does go a long way towards demonstrating TELG's integrity. If I had the kind of funds required to engage TELG to litigate my case, I wouldn't hesitate to do so, with Scott Oswald leading the team.

My objective was to settle my case against my former employer without protracted and time consuming litigation. Adam and team help me successfully negotiate a fair and reasonable severance within a reasonable time period, despite numerous delay tactics used by my former employer. The team was generally available and responsive when I hade questions and comments regarding the case. The total fees that I paid to TELG were very reasonable relative to the amount of the settlement.

As a former client of TELG, I had an interesting experience. I imagine the various aspects of my case made it a bit tricky but they navigated them satisfactorily. My initial meeting with Scott was warm. He seemed personable enough. I had little to no one-on-one contact with him after our initial meeting (didn't need any).

Although I disagree with the negative YELP comments about TELG I believe I understand the basis for the poster's misplaced frustration. TELG can't go around claiming it's the TOP in it's class without solid proof. Providing quality representation requires methods (e.g., investigation, research, etc) that are not free. So for people who have been abused and/or discriminated against to have to relive it by recounting it in multiple interviews, it can be tough. The intake staff hearing a potential client's information for the first time takes excellent but not verbatim notes. It is during the actual consultation that the lawyer can clarify some of the missing or misunderstood facts and give an opinion on the strength of the case and if it's a fit for their firm. This isn't even the preliminary stage. Lots more needs to be done to evaluate if the client and case have merit. So, hurting or angry individuals who do not understand the legal process/law or the process of acquiring representation can misdirect their anger at the lawyer/law firm based on unrealistic expectations if triggered.

Every employee who's been wronged feels their case has merit and from an ethical perspective most often do. The law, however has a different set of qualifiers; this is the first employee plaintiff reality check. The second reality check is that just like clients the law firm can severe the contract, with proper notice, at any juncture of the relationship.

Another common misconception is that they just want to "take my money". The estimated $17K they tell you it will cost for starters isn't making any of the 5 or so staff dedicated to your case wealthy. They also aren't in any soup kitchen lines either.

If I am completely honest, I had to talk myself out of assuming the worse (multiple times). Once I decided I was going to trust them or walk away, I felt slightly less anxious and we saw the case through to a positive outcome. I appreciate Anita. She was very responsive and honest every step of the way.

I found all of my dealings with TELG to be first rate - full of professionalism and compassion. Adam Carter was my primary contact, and he is a seasoned and extremely sharp attorney who knows employment law inside and out. Just as important, Adam takes the time to know the situation from all perspectives so he can better advocate for his client. If one finds him or herself requiring the services of an employment attorney, I highly recommend Adam Carter and his colleagues at TELG.

I had a great conversation with Nick about a separation agreement that was complicated due to stock options. Nick talked me through it, made me feel really confident and I can't believe how good I felt after talking to a lawyer - that was a first to me! This group was responsive, informed, professional and responsive. Highly recommend!
