The Dosa Brothers specialize in a modern variation of the South Indian Dosa. A light, gluten free thin crispy crepe stuffed with 2 different variations of fillings. Our menu consists of a delicately spiced potato masala sautéed with ginger, onions, and jalapeños. The paneer option, which is an indian farmers cheese split from whole milk and strained in to a crumbly, spiced, cheese mixture with ginger, onions, jalapeños, and a variety of indian spices. Our final and third option is a mixture of the above fillings all stuffed in to one Dosa. All our Dosas are served with Sambar (lentil sauce) and a cream sauce in a ready to eat cone!

I'm so happy to have found this place in the financial district! Finally a lunch place that won't make me feel like crap after eating it. With all the fast food places around, and bougie lunch places, this place is a gem.
I got the mixed dosa, and it was so good. The Indian spices, the paneer, potatoes, peas. No sambar(broth) though to eat alongside the dosa but it's not a deal breaker because the dosa is so good alone. A bit on the pricey side, my mixed dosa was $11.
I tried their ginger chai, because who can say no to chai? I'd pass, it was too gingery. It might be for you if you like ginger, but I think I'm gonna stick to regular chai.
They accept cards!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sai J.Mountain View, CA50225273Jan 27, 2020
I was dying to try out this much hyped dosa place and boy it was a letdown. They were doing cash only when I went so maybe carry cash when you go here?
Got my order in time. Got the mixed dosa in regular spice level. Sadly nothing about it was enjoyable. The dosa was made fresh and filled with a cold potato and paneer stuffing. And to add more cold stuffing to it, there was their special sauce which was basically kitcharee put in a blender to make a hummus like spread *facepalm*. Come here if you can handle a cold lunch.
The filling wasn't enjoyable either. The paneer was cold yet burnt to a fried queso fresco texture. The green dollop on the side of what was supposed to be chutney was just grated coconut with a hint of cilantro.
This place is neither fusion nor really a dosa place. I can't tell what they're trying to be but it is just bad food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Molly M.Lafayette, CA772393639Jul 15, 2019
I tried this place for the first time today. I went just after 12 and the line wasn't too bad. I also did not wait long for my food, maybe 7 minutes. Not 20min as one reviewer experienced.
I ordered the mixed Dosa with the cabbage salad inside, $12.
I loved the coconut chutney that's included. The flotara were really good. It was a filling lunch. I'll definitely be back to try the other food.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2020
Yasss, this little food cart creates some big flavors. I'll admit to being somewhat ignorant to Indian cuisine until I met my boyfriend a few years ago. I'm so happy he was like "you've never eaten a dosa [insert gasp], we need to fix that!"
If you have never eaten a dosa and need to fix that (and you should) then this place is a great introduction for you. They have a couple of different options, all vegetarian. They offer some extras of veggie mix and coconut chutney. The food is really delicious. My only problem with it is that I sometimes wished I had more :)
So you might be wondering what is the "but" in this review. If I have to give one, I'd say the long line and wait can get a little scary. I would give yourself plenty of time for this lunch as the wait can go to 20-30 mins. Once you have your food, you will no longer care about the wait though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 166104May 16, 2017
Excellent vegetarian dosa place in the heart of SF! What a great find (thanks to Yelp)! Placed an online order for 2 Mix Dosas (potato masala & paneer filling) on their website, and it was ready in no time. The order and pickup process was seamless, and we even got a text once the order was in-progress. Clean place, polite staff, fast & tasty South Indian food - what more could one ask for.
Hats off to these guys for promoting vegetarianism and being vegan friendly. They could've been greedy for more clientele and offered carnivorous options - but they didn't. They could've been open 7 days a week, 9am to 9pm - but they aren't. They are open for just 4.5 hrs a day, often running out of their popular items (shows how good the food is). The menu is simple (3 options), nutritious, filling and reduces our carbon footprint. Visit their website and read about their mission. It's inspiring.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 2, 2020
I've passed this cart so many times, I had to try it. What is a Dosa? I believe it is a lentil-rice crepe with delicious fillings inside. They have two choices for a filling, or a combination of the two. Since, I didn't know what I was doing, I had the combination, and enjoyed it immensely. It was fresh and hot. You can watch them make the dosa in front of you. The coconut chutney on the side was also delicious. It filled that yearning for a bit of sweet after having something savory. I wish it was twice the size, but the size they give is what I SHOULD be eating. I wish it was half the price. Yes, I still wish it was half the price.
If you're a vegetarian, this place is ideal for you. Anything on the menu is for you. Next time, I'd like to try the chai and the kitcheree.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 1, 2019
Dosa Brothers is a lunch-time food truck chain that dishes out Indian rice pancakes with vegetarian toppings: paneer (cottage cheese, $13), potato (traditional breakfast in Southern India, also called as 'masala' dosa $10) or a mix dosa (this is the best deal, $2 less at $11 and gives you a taste of both paneer and potato). You can also top it off with spring salad mix (makes it healthier and tastes decent, $1 for topping). They serve it along-side coconut chutney (may have cilantro, check if you have dishwasher mouth).
I am docking one star for the price. If they can get the price down to $10 (before-tip) that would make it 5 star worthy.
You can order online, or stand in a line (like I did), and got my order ready in around 10 minutes. I saw others also get Mango Lassi ($4) and Ginger Chai ($3). They also serve a healthy Indian lentil porridge-like gruel (usually delicious, I did not get to try it), called Kitch-e-ree ($7).
Friendly staff. They seemed happy to be there and provide recommendations. Dosa was delicious, albeit slightly expensive compared to other lunch options.
Note: I tried the location at the intersection of Montgomery and Market Streets (steps away from Montgomery Bart).
Tip: Order online and avoid the line. Ask for extra chutney ($1) it's better than the free Sriracha.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 11, 2019
The dosas are made to order and are filling. The people running the cart, who I assume are the owners, are always friendly too. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch to either enjoy at embarcadero or take back to the office.
My only complaint is that I wish they had some spicy component to their offering. The sriracha sauce doesn't do it for me with a dosa.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 22, 2016
This was so good! I used to pass by all the time but I thought it was cash only and I was always hesitant because I didn't think I'd be satisfied and full from a vegetarian dosa. Boy, was I wrong! They take card, and I was so full and satisfied afterwards!
I got the mixed dosa ($10) with spring greens (add $1) and it was huge!! It was so flavorful and the coconut chutney that they put on the side was a great addition to eat the dosa with. This is a great lunch cart in Fidi and it's good to be vegetarian sometimes so give it a try!
Pro tip: use the sriracha they provide there for some extra spice!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 1, 2019
Solid food stand that makes a tasty/healthy lunch, that feels hearty and won't weigh you down! They make tasty food, but things are a changin'
Unfortunately the quality/consistently has been steadily going down as they expand. Do Not both with add-on's when ordering online...you will pay the added cost and they will not honor it in your order (this has been happening a lot when ordering in person too).
I hope they will get back on track! They will remain a standby lunch option, but lose the 'customization' act if you aren't able to honor it (time and time again). I've almost earned a free dosa with the amount of free money I have given you all by now :)
Also...your clarified butter is not ghee, but don't tell the Sheeple that ;)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
