As one of the most popular restaurants in the neighborhood, we enjoy serving old-fashioned milkshakes, huge grilled burgers, and all-day brunch. the Diner is a favorite for regulars and tourists alike. Large hand-painted murals are in the backdrop, as large leather over-sized booths and rustic bar stools fill our welcoming space, 7 days a week. We serve classic American comfort foods and drinks that embrace the diversity of the District's residents and their tastes.

      A:

When I was there, a dog was on the patio. There was even a dog bowl for water. So, I'd say yes! ?

      Sunday shoot the sh*t
      It's pretty great, isn't it?
      Endless coffee, lit.

You're not going to the Diner for a gourmet culinarily life changing experience. You're going to the Diner to have some solid diner food, drink some bottomless coffee, and debrief the night before with friends.

This place has become a staple in my weekly routine. The veggie omelette which is filled with spinach, feta, tomatoes, and mushrooms, has simply never missed. Paired with home fries, the meal consistently keeps me full for 4-6 hours.

The best part about the Diner is you can sit at the bar and talk to your friend for one hour, then two, and never will you be made to feel like you need to leave. The place is yours to share. For the price and service, you can't beat it in the neighborhood.

Did I mention the coffee is a medium roast?

I was in the Adams Morgan area over the weekend and decided to check out The Diner with two friends for brunch. We got there around 12:30 pm on Sunday and it was packed; however, we were able to grab a sit at the bar. You should expect 15-30 min wait for a table. It has an old retro style similar to traditional diners. I think over the weekend The Diner stays open 24/7.

I ordered the Banana bread French toast , home fries, and pork sausages. The Banana bread French toast were five medium sized slices of banana bread, think of French toast sticks. The French toast was delicious. It had pieces of banana inside the bread with banana, strawberries, and pecans around the plate. The home fries were plain and unseasoned. I didn't like them. The 2 pork sausage were jumbo sized and tasted good.

The service was good at the bar. We had two bartenders that were attentive and helpful to us. There's three tv's in the room but one of them at the bar wasn't working properly. They tried to put a NFL game on but the picture couldn't come up.

The Diner is a nice little spot in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Their "Open 24 Hours Thursday through Sunday" speaks to the clientele that they cater toward. We were coming in for lunch on a Thursday around noon and had the place mostly to ourselves.

Our large party showed up in several groupings and situated ourselves on the wall where booth seating was separated from the chairs by sensible and well-worn wooden tables. Large mirrors lined the walls behind me and the stainless steel kitchen hustled behind the bar in front of me.

Food is just as practical, specializing in... well, diner food. You're going to find burgers, sandwiches and breakfast items. Oh! They offer tater tots or onion rings as well as the standard fries at no extra cost. Tots! I got the classic cheeseburger and tots and left with a full belly. I was a little disappointed that there were no condiments on the sandwich; ketchup on the table, but no mustard or promised cup of mayo on the side so it was a little dry.

Service started strong but trailed off after the food was delivered. The server was really good about offering to break up the check in a way that compromised without going individual and brought out the meals in a reasonable time. After that, though, I don't think I saw them again and sat with an unfilled water for most of my meal.

The Diner is a solid option without being particularly memorable.

Sometimes you just want a diner meal. Nothing fancy, nothing opulent. Just some good old eggs and potatoes. This place delivered! I got exactly what I paid for in the best way. The patty melt was a real winner! Our server was lovely and very kind too. I will definitely be back!

the host spilled coffee on the table then threw the rag down and said "here clean it up," this is exactly how one should be treated at a good diner
      - breakfast burrito was HAD. DEMOLISHED. one might say. she was massive, soaking in sauce and splitting open with "spicy" (lies) chorizo, eggs, hash browns, and cheddar.
      - if this was gonna be one of those massive burritos that's 88% rice I was going to commit crimes
      - this was the perfect combination of a bit disgusting to eat while also not making me feel ill or question the integrity of any of the ingredients
      - service was fast, and despite the no reservation policy and pretty intense line, we were seated quickly
      - major diner feel inside and coffee refills, not quick enough for me to have it coursing through my veins but it'll suffice

I came in late night on a Friday. Place was clean and service was pretty good. Wasn't crowded. I enjoyed my turkey club it was pretty decent, however my date did not enjoy her turkey burger. She didn't finish it.

Awesome char-broiled burgers! This is a great spot!

If a low-key, quaint diner in a historic building sounds good to you, then you should check this place out! My favorite item on their menu is their burger - it is charbroiled and you can definitely taste the charcoal flavor! They have a lot of other great diner options as well, you won't go wrong!

Quick, not expensive, and friendly service. That's exactly what I want in a diner!

The title is accurate - it's a diner. And a great one at that!

This is your typical diner experience. Big basic menu, quick and speedy service, good food! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Super casual ambiance. We liked our food and were in and out in about 45 mins. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend for a slow Sunday morning meal!
