Came to The Dead Poet after a show at the Beacon Theater. The hike was well worth it as we were greeted with an incredible ambience, friendly and professional staff. Great range of mixed cocktails (The Dead Poet and JD Salinger were two we got that were outstanding) as well as what could be the best pour of Guinness that i've had in years.
Definitely check it out if you're in need of a cozy pub with a tucked away feel - a hidden gem with great cocktails and Guinness. If so, you won't be disappointed.

I came here for cocktails with a friend . Very unassuming from the exterior and quite low key yet upscale inside . The drink menu was quite interesting and they had plenty of options . The bartender was exceptional , friendly and a true artisan . I can recall what I ordered but it was a sort of old fashioned - excellent and on point . Great happy hour as well ! Highly recommended!!

Pretty Good!
My best friend and I were looking for a cool bar after the movies on a Monday Afternoon. Most restaurants and bars are usually closed on Monday, but we were lucky enough to find one open on Mondays! LOL
We found very curious the name of the drinks, dead poets LOL. The bar is small, not much illumination, we saw all the Guiness Records, and the bar has been awarded. I guess the bar had very good times in the late 90 early 2000. Emo/Poet/NYC/Alcohol vibe with a cool concept, but they are actually very friendly, and the service was great.
I ordered a Titos Vodka dirty Martini, and my friend ordered from Prologue Menu, Man in the Iron Mask, awesome drink! - Champagne, vodka, peach schnapps, pineapple juice, OJ. Over ice.
I was actually very surprised with the quality and quantity of the drinks! Huge drinks for a great price!
I would definitely come back!Helpful 19Thanks 3Love this 16Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2024
We loveee the dead poet - so cute and intimate. Fun for a date night, week night drink, after bar drinks whatever you name it! It's a pretty chill vibe and a tiny space so not much room to stand but we love it here as a late night spot

This not-quite-a-dive bar was not as literary-themed as I was expecting, and not very Irish for an Irish bar in NYC. I did appreciate the solitary 2 food items: popcorn and/or hotdogs, which were both surprisingly good, at least for 1am.
The service was great, the drink selection was basic, and the vibes seemed oriented towards college-aged crowds, as you would expect from any bar open until 4am.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 15, 2023
This is exactly my kind of bar - no frills, no uppity feel, just food drinks and good vibes, but most importantly, fantastic drinks. I had reservations in the area for brunch but ended up being early so me and my boyfriend stopped in for a drink. At around 2 on a Saturday, the place had a good crowd, but me and my date were able to snag seats at the bar. The service was good and quick and my drink was really good. They have an amazing variety of different drinks so I'd definitely stop by again

Walked in with some friends on a Monday afternoon after lunch. We sat at the bar ordered a few Jameson shots and a few beers - good times. We had a few more shots and chatted w Todd the bartender about Chicago style pizza and sports. We had a great time and will be coming back for more day time drinking soon!

Killer little Irish pub on the Upper Westside. Guinness is always flowing and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive.
