The cutting board provides a truly wonderful breakfast and lunch setting. Great location and excellent service. The food is always great and their specials are to die for. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. One of ridgefield's hidden gems!

The place has gone downhill. Once a favorite salad spot now will never return. My salad today a special * BBQ chicken salad* for $11.95 was horrible. Chicken was so dry and tough I couldn't even cut it with a knife and fork.
My waitress who never came by to check in had to be waves down.
When I asked for my check I mentioned to the waitress my issue with the salad. She brought it into the kitchen and showed it to the owner.
When she returned my bill I was charged full price for my uneaten salad. I also left her more than a 20% tip!
I saw the owner getting into his car and Introduced myself. I mentioned my disappointment in the salad. His response, " mine was fine. I ate the other half of your chicken and saw nothing wrong with it". I told him I felt his lack of customer service was shocking and that he lost a customer today.
As a resident of Ridgefield I try to support local businesses, however, The Cutting Board is one no one should support.

Seriously. Service was fine and lovely; however, no amount of good service will make up for disappointing food. I can't account for other items on the menu, but the quiche was disgusting. The crust tasted like cardboard, and not in a good way. The filling had horrible texture and no flavor. The salad was uninspired with a generic dressing (thankfully, however, the dressing was offered on the side).
The Cutting Board has good coffee and when I've been for breakfast I've been perfectly satisfied. One of its best features, the cutting board with a small banana bread, is only offered for breakfast! I would offer it for all meals.
All in all, I'll never go again-- especially when Ross' Bread is right across the courtyard.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marichu K.Brewster, NY10210Aug 3, 2011
Very good went with a friend for lunch. ordered the Aruba which was a special for the day. Which was a good sandwich and had a salad as well. It's a decent amount of food that's enough and light as well maybe a tad bit pricey but I guess when u look at the area it sounds about right service was good. Def will go there again and try something different

I haven't been back here in a few years and decided to come with a friend for breakfast the other morning. Waited about 30 minutes for our food...for dinner that's fine but it's breakfast come on and we didn't have all morning. I ordered an omelette my friend also got eggs and it was completely smothered in oil. If I wanted that I would have gone to a diner or had a fast food breakfast. We sent it back, the server was nice and took it off. We paid for our drinks (the coffee by the way was also awful) and left. I kind of felt bad sending the food back but after reading other reviews on here it seems like many other people have had a similar experience.
Do not go here. Zero stars.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Marlo,
so sorry to hear about your less than desirable experience. We have addressed the particular issues you mentioned so it doesn't happen again. I am especially upset that you did not like our organic coffee from zumbach's in new canaan. - Cujo C.Ridgefield, CT7814Mar 14, 2014

Updated Oct. 2013: This place is still a great casual breakfast and lunch option in Ridgefield. All of the sandwiches and salads are a notch above. Brie and fig spread, for example. Ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully placed together. We also appreciate the gluten free bread option (bring back those pizza custs!) - as well as the delicious gluten free pancakes. Prices are fair for what is served, but a bit on the higher side for a casual lunch stop. The waitress, Meghan, is truly wonderful -- always service with a big bright, friendly smile!

If I could choose ZERO stars, I would. After being a member of this community for 30 years, I have never been so upset about service and food. We went here for Sunday brunch and had the WORST FOOD and SERVICE. I had to take pictures because I was shocked at what was in front of me. Upon entering the establishment, we sat at a table that had yet to be cleaned. (Not a huge deal, but in hindsight, a huge telltale sign of what was to come). We waited..... And waited.... For 25 min to be exact before we had to get the attention of the server to take our order (this is a limited menu, not a five star restaurant). We waited a total of 65 minutes before being served the most horrid food, with dirty glasses and silverware, with crusted over hot sauce bottles. When we complained the bacon wasn't actually bacon (because there was no meat, only grizzle), we were served a second plate of grizzle (again, we took pictures). The final insult after an infuriating 75 minutes, was the $44 bill we received. $44 for eggs and fat????? There are far too many other average eateries than to waste your time, money or efforts at this place. Great marketing, disgusting food and filthy venue. The health inspector should make a "surprise" visit. This place should be shut down.

Hi Trish. Thank you for the feedback. I'm looking at these pictures and reading your comments and i am embarrassed and appalled that those plates came out of my kitchen. After a long day friday and working a late bat mitzvah saturday night, i had to take my wife to the emergency room sunday with an injury and call in a substitute chef. Clearly i shouldn't have. The staff did say it was very busy and chaotic sunday, but I still cannot imagine how my staff would serve dishes like that. I will address these issue first thing tomorrow morning. That looks like a tabasco bottle that looks like it was sitting on a shelf for a long long time, and again, we will look into that tomorrow. This is unacceptable at any price point or any establishment, and i apologize for myself and our entire team for your disappointing experience. I would like to invite you and your family or guests of your choice to come have breakfast or lunch on me and i will prepare it for you myself. We value our customers and want everyone to have a great meal and experience with us. We failed in your case.

I can't speak to the food the quality of the food. We walked in last Sunday, a party of four, we put the tables together ourselves after being given permission but no assistance (they weren't cleaned) and sat there for almost a 20 minutes being ignored. It wasn't crowded and others that came in after us had drinks in front of them and menus...not us, we left and went to Dimitris.

Are you sure Nicole? I am at the cafe from open to close every sunday and we don't ignore customers. If anything remotely resembling your story happened I would remember.
