I thought this place was really cool and they have an awesome happy hour deal. $17 for bottomless beer or wine until 8pm. Not bad considering you will spend that much on 2-3 drinks in LA.

We tried the deep fried buffalo cauliflower and it was delish! It was a fun atmosphere and the service was good. I would love to come back on a Friday or Saturday night when they have a DJ or a live band. Compared to all the other bars in the area this one is top notch!

      Happy hour review only.

Happy hour: all night Monday (5:30 PM to 1:00 AM), Tuesday to Friday from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

You could go for valet parking, but it shouldn't be that difficult to find an available spot for street parking (try to drive around Douglas Park, free meter parking after 6 PM).

Short Rib Tacos ($5 happy hour price) - Tacos themselves were so-so, but the side sauce that came with tacos was pretty good (tasted sweet and sour, with a bit of spiciness).

Dry Spice Wings ($5 happy hour price) - Wings were pretty decent - crispy and tender. The side sauce tasted like sweet chili sauce that you'll find in the Asian supermarket.

Pretty good service. Solid 3.5-star just on food without sauces. Once you dip into those side sauces, everything just tasted better.

      PARKING
Parking here is street or valet. We had no problem finding a street spot that was really close to the entrance of the restaurant.

      AMBIANCE
When we came here, the place has a nice vibe to it; everyone here seemed to be happy and in a good mood. It was hip/trendy/chill.

      FOOD
We used a Gilt Voucher (which I was a little bummed out about because we paid the same price for less food than when we previously got the voucher). This voucher came with 2 cocktails, 2 small bites, and 2 entries for $44. The previous voucher came with all of that and 2 flatbreads and a dessert for the same price!

      Cocktails: Apricocktail & La Poire
Bites: Short Rib Tacos & Pork Belly Bao Buns
Plates: Lobster Cobb Salad & Chicken & Waffles

Cocktails are bomb here; skillfully mixed and prepared to deliver great taste! Bites were also really good and tasty. The Cobb salad was alright; nothing extremely special, but wasn't expecting it to be. The chicken and waffles was alright also. The chicken was really moist and tasty, but the combination of the two wasn't the most amazing chicken and waffles I've ever had.

      SERVICE
We had a girl from Israel help us out; she was really nice and helpful in assisting us to make food and drink choices. She was really attentive and was a great server.

Overall, I would maybe go back because I like their drinks and their vibe, but I guess I was disappointed that the voucher is now worth a lot less in food although we paid the same amount for it! The drinks and the bites were great, but the main dishes kind of fell flat for me this time around.

This place is perfect for warm summer days as their AC is kicking!! We made reservations for the Fourth of July and had a great time. It's a small place but filled with lots of character and good tunes. We sat in one of the large booths and Sandra served us. She was pretty fantastic. She recommended the Buffalo cauliflower. I'm still dreaming about this dish. It was cooked just right and coated to perfection. I've tried to replicate it but that was just sad. We also tried the Taco beef brisket, grilled cheese and tomato soup and Sweet potato tots with blue cheese. (No ranch) Everything was fantastic. I even got a free drink with my yelp check in. I ordered the Sex Appeal and I enjoyed every sexy drop.
I'm definitely looking forward to returning for the Jazz Brunch.
      Hope Sandra will be working.

AMAZING!!! My new favorite brunch spot. The staff is super friendly. The service was great, but then again there weren't a ton of people there, so that may be a factor. Our waiter was on it at all times and made sure our bottomless mimosa glasses never went dry. The jazz band was on it and I love the fact that they are aware of the small space and they played the music at the perfect noise level. It made our brunch absolutely pleasant. We had a wonderful experience here.

For brunch we had the pulled pork benedict, the skinny bitch and chorizo home fries. I have to say, I thought a pull pork benedict would be a bit strange. I mean really... pulled pork and eggs? But It was GREAT. It was absolutely delicious. Im sure that's what we will have the next time and trust me, there will be a next time very soon! The skinny bitch was good. It was basically grilled chicken, egg whites, and a small side salad with tomatoes. Nice, light, healthy brunch. The Chorizo homes fries were just out of this world. IT was REALLY good! And the Mimosas were perfectly made.

I really do look forward to coming back to The Charleston. We will come back for brunch for sure, but would love to see what goes on when the sun goes down :)... they have rye whiskey so we will have to try their Sazerac and other old school cocktails.

Cool place but waaaaay too tiny!

Group of us came for a friend's bday and only half of us actually got in. The rest waited more than 30min and ended up going elsewhere! Not cool. Food and drinks are super pricey, especially for a tiny gastropub!

Service was very good. 80's night on fridays features a live band. Lack of good looking people! I think I was the only one there. jk.

The Charleston is conveniently located next to the Wilshire Restaurant so I stopped in here with some friends before the Silent Frisco event at the Wilshire. We weren't greeted by anyone so we seated ourselves in one of the bar seats.

They have a nice cocktail list. I enjoyed my drink called the La Poire. It pretty much tasted like pineapple juice. My friends had other cocktails and they were all pretty good. The drinks are about $13-$15 so not cheap but typical for the area.

We ordered appetizer items since we weren't famished. I had the short rib tacos since there were a lot of yelp recommendations. I found it to be below average. The taco didn't have any ingredients other than the tortilla and the meat. The sauce that came with it was extremely sweet.

The service was the worst part of it all. Although our waitress was extremely nice, there wasn't enough people working. Our waitress covered the entire floor and was running around the whole time. We had a hard time flagging her down. The food and drink service was also extremely slow. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks and almost 30 minutes for our food.

We were just here this last Sunday thanks to a Gilt City coupon we had. Brunch for two with BOTTOMLESS mimosas!! Oh hell to the yesss!! Brunch was from 10am-2pm.

We had to make a reservation to have this possible but it wasnt too much trouble to get one. Parking was the one that was a bit confusing since they did have a few "valet only " spots but we asked when we walked in if it was ok to park there and we had the thumbs up. Walked into this little cozy place playing some good jazz vibes in the background. Our table was a high and a bit small but we managed. Our waiter came and introduced himself with a smile on his face. Right away we ordered our first round of mimosas. The place was not crowded and had a few tables jamming away to the jazz playing. Everyone, especially the jazz players seem very lively and happy.

Previously reviewing yelp to see what the recommendations for brunch were, we reviewed the menu and decided on what we would order. Our Gilt City coupon consisted of:
      -bottomless mimosas for two
-Choice of one item from Toast/Pastries to share
      -Choice of two brunch entrees

For our pastry to share we ordered the blue berry muffin. Moist, fresh, and soft with a really good amount of blueberries in every bite. Decent size too to be able to share.

      For our entrees
Me: Chocolate Broiche Bread Pudding French Toast

This french toast was soooo incredibly tasty!! I loved the fact that it wasn't sickening sweet. I enjoyed dipping it in my syrup and the chocolate was not over powering the toast flavor. It was not dry at all and truly enjoyed every single bite of it. It came with some fresh strawberries/raspberries/blue berries on the side which were an amazing combination with the French Toast. I would highly recommend getting this and eating it while its still warm. The serving size was perfect for someone my size and amount of appetite. Wilson did think it was a bit too mushy for his taste so keep in mind that its more of a bread pudding french toast rather than your typical bread type of french toast.

      Wilson:
      First choice: Pulled Pork Benedict
What he ended up with: Chicken & Waffle "C&W Y'all"

Sadly our waiter announced that they were out of the pork (we were there at 11am!!) He also said its one of their popular items on the menu so I guess we will have to go back some other time (plus the manager did give us a free mimosa/drink voucher for our next visit). Then Wilson proceeded to ask what our waiter would recommend us as second best. He then told us that the Chicken and Waffle is the second most popular brunch menu item and then the French toast (at least in his standards). The waffle that the chicken came with was fluffy and toasty. The chicken was juicy, totally not dry OR oily! we both loved it! It had a nice crisp to it and the batter around it went well with the waffle. It had some sort of green/oniony sauce over it that gave it a nice kick and made it different from your typical chicken and waffles out there. The fact that the chicken wasn't oily made it pleasing to eat and didn't leave the usual gross after flavor. This chicken and waffle was truly gourmet and something that should be highlighted on their menu.

Their mimosas kept on coming around while we ate and listened to jazz. Since the place is small, the music bounces off the wall very well which makes it a bit difficult to carry out a conversation. Still nice though to sit there and get live music on a Sunday morning. I enjoyed the fact that my mimosa glass was never empty. I dislike having to wait for my next round so I truly am happy and thankful that they did that for me =) Our mimosas were also always bubbly and not flat. I also was pleased that they didn't try to stop me on my fourth mimosa, the actually asked me if I wanted one more while waiting for the check. Bottomless mimosas should be bottomless unless you are falling out of your chair.

Wilson and I both loved the fact that the manager actually came around and asked us how everything was. He was very friendly and was also curious to know how we learned about the place. Meeting the manager allows us to see who is running the place and even though he seems young, he truly is on top of the service here, easy going and personable. He seemed to really care about his customers and wanting them to be happy so they can come back again.

We look forward in coming back sometime in the near future in hopes to try out their pulled pork benedict and get their incredible service once more. If it wasn't so far, would probably go back a lot more often. We recommend this place to anyone. We are tempted to go back and check out their dinner menus sometime too.

I feel like The Charleston doesn't know what it's trying to be. Seems like it's trying to cater to different crowds and it's not really working.

Came here for a dinner date on a Saturday night. Great live jazz, relaxing vibe, demographic was 30 to late 40 year olds enjoy a romantic dinner. But there were also 20 somethings beginning to crowd the bar around 10pm. Suddenly, in less than 1.4 minutes, the jazz ends, lights go on, DJ starts spinning Will.i.am and we were being pushed out... wtf?

Someone who seemed to be the owner greeted everyone as they came in and tried to get the dance floor going. He kept asking if we were done, trying to get us to leave. It just felt so weird. Why? I was enjoying the talented jazz vocalist you had on stage 2 seconds ago. To my left I see a suited up, well trimmed male with a martini, to my right I see a scruffy young gun downing a pint of Bud Light...

Apart from the odd switch from relaxed to weirdly mixed vibe, my chicken and waffles were meh. Chicken was very dry. Portion small. Too expensive. I could buy a better chicken at Ralph's for half the price.

Not to mention my Jim Bean Ghost cocktail was terrible. The mix was so off and it was served in a dinky mini martini glass.

I really want to like the place because of the live music and the (kind of) classy/bar vibe but everything else was just a bit off. However, willing to give a second try for Happy Hour so we'll see how that goes.

      Live jazz!

What's not to love about the Charleston? It's one of the few places I can be me, and not an LA fabrication with plastic spoilers that leaves little below the surface.

The crowd is fun and friendly, no matter what the night or theme. From phenom live Jazz on Tuesday, to DJ White Jade on dance nights, to the monthly 80s live band that comes complete with Richard Simmons on the guitar- it's hard not to love.

Sometimes I feel like I'm back in college, where I'm still searching for who I am, but am accepted no matter what theme I'm sporting for the night. The staff is adorable, from spunky Brianna to sporty Ale, from smooth Sarah to sultry Monique, and from super model Shae to the top of the mountain, the ever secret Victoria.

You'll love the phenom cocktail creations, and if you're particularly lucky, be treated by celebrity Vegas mixologist Myke, the captain behind all things smoothy boozy. The secret to getting Myke to do something fancy? Bring him yummy dessert (cream puffs are his weakness....... and I mean food, not flamboyant Susans from Sunset Blvd).

Hungry? You might not realize this, but the Charleston is co-owned by celeb chef Jet Tila, who built the top restaurants at the Wynn and Encore in Vegas. The food is phenom (my personal favs are the chopped salad, steak eggs benedict, and the piece de resistance..... the amazeballs bread pudding). What else? I recently discovered they do a live jazz brunch on the weekends. /LOVE the Bloody Mary (made in-house by gangsta Myke).

Come any night. I'll be the one in the middle of the dance floor eating, drinking, and dancing naked.
