About the Business
The Blazing Chef specializes in providing our customers with the best food and Espresso/Coffee drinks possible. We make our own beer batter and use the best tasting fish available. Current fish choices are Tilapia, Albacore and Salmon. We make the best Fish Sandwich in town (according to our customers) and our Grilled Salmon Burger is becoming a hit as well. We make our french fries from fresh cut potatos and use a double fry method to provide crispy fries (especially if eaten right away). And the oil we fry in is always trans fat free. Our espresso and coffee beans come from Wandering Goat, always organic and fair trade. We use Café Femenino' Bolivia 'Caranavi for our drip coffee, a bean grown by an all-women's co-op, and all income generated from the sale of this smooth, sweet coffee goes directly to benefit the women farmers who produce it. Enjoy!

Drop everything you are doing and go to Blazing Chef now.
While it's easy to miss, you shouldn't let the location deter you. Blazing Chef sets the bar so high for fried fish in the Emerald Valley it's equivalent to star gazing. They source their fish locally, they source their coffee locally, they donate their used oil to those clunker bio-diesel Mercedes you get stuck behind on 126 on your way to the coast. Well, two out of three isn't so bad!
The food, the food, the glorious, deep fried, beer battered food. The artery clogging, guilt inducing, who gives a rip it's amazing food!
The customers that claim Blazing Chef has the best fish sandwich around are not fibbing. No over exaggerations here folks. I had the tilapia and it was a transcendent experience.
Here's what I knew about fish sandwiches before Blazing Chef:
1. Filet-O-Fish
2. Carl's Catch
3. DQ Fish Sandwich
Nasty. Nasty. Nasty.
Here's what I know after Blazing Chef:
Eating fish will never be the same.
This sandwich was loaded for $5.50. Swiss melting into a wheat bun on one side and perfectly deep fried tilapia on the other. Throw in some lettuce, some onions, and slather that bad boy in tartar sauce (is there dill in it?) and you have a hand held piece of fish sammich history.
Blazing Chef is great. I started writing this review at 4 stars and decided to bump it to 5. The food is great and the business history in the community is great. If you like fried fish, you'll love Blazing Chef.
Something to chew on:
While I don't support the abuse of fungi, you should probably try the battered mushrooms. They kick ass.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Wes A.Oakland, CA211Feb 19, 2011
This place is really good. Wonderful fish n chips, and the fries are pretty darn tasty too. We also found this place through a groupon, which I agree was well spent. Because you don't get any money back with it, we kind of went all out. We got the salmon fish n chips, albacore sandwich, onion rings and the battered mushrooms. My wife also got a latte there (which they make with coffee from Wandering Goat).
Fried at the right temperature, not soggy, real tasty. I think you should go.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 2011Updated review
I went here a few days ago and it just wasn't the same. The batter was too oily and the fries were a little burnt. The fish was still good, but the batter just really disappointed me. Too bad this place isn't consistent. I'll give it another try, but I'm skeptical and doubtful. I'm disappointed because it's Lent and I NEED good fish and chips on a Friday night.

The fries are amazing and the fish is just right. The tartar sauce is perfect. The fish was nice and fresh. Gosh, and the woman was friendly and quick! I'm a fan. I love this place. I'll definitely be back.
I only had $6 cash on me and they don't take credit cards. The lady suggested I get a kids combo fish and chips. It comes with 2 pieces and chips for $5. Perfect. Then, since it was chilly outside, she asked where my car was, and said that I could wait in my car and she'll bring my food out to me. Wow, just awesome. I can't wait to try the other stuff on the menu. Yum yum. - Ted L.Eugene, OR3213Jan 5, 2011
I had the opportunity to check out this little "hut" thanks to a Groupon offer that turned out to be well worth it! We tried the albacore fish sandwich and it was absolutely amazing! No question the best I have ever had with every ingredient fresh and just the right amount.....except for the huge amount of generous portions of albacore!
The lady was so helpful and friendly providing quick service. I can't wait for my next visit which will be soon....but what to order?
Go here and you'll be glad you did plus they support local businesses...Wandering Goat, The Fish Market, etc.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Henry G.Eugene, OR011Nov 21, 2009
Now, I love the Fisherman's Market. I eat there several times a week. But I must say that I think the Blazing Chef has the best fish and chips in town. I don't know how they do it but it is awesome.
That 'secret' fry sauce is nice too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dj N.Junction City, OR44May 19, 2010
Amazing food served by fast friendly people.
The fish sandwiches I don't think can be beat by any single person in this town.
It's definitely a place worth stopping if you're traveling south river road.
(great cookies too...)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer T.Seattle, WA112Sep 22, 2009First to Review
I'm not usually a huge french fry fan but Blazing Chef has incredible fries, fries worth driving off the beaten path for! The beer battered fish is fantastic too- great for lunch or dinner and not too $$. Glad I can get Blazing Chef fish and chips and Wandering Goat coffee too any day of the week now and don't necessarily have to wait for (or wait in line at!) Saturday Market!
