Best days to go any day except wed and Friday.
Wed Chef is out Friday Patty lead server is off.
I tell you forget about ove rpriced Versailles and Las vegas.
The Food is way better than both those places at half the price.
Steaks and Lechon amazing. Ham croquets best anywhere. Dont forget to try the MARIQUITAS. awesomeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 12, 2021Previous reviewHead dinner there last night again.. Just amazing I had the Pulled pork Wife had the Stake the flavors were amazing. Start it out with the mariquitas as an appetizer. And as usual Fantastic service from our favorite server Patty. I love that I don't ever have to ask her look for my server she always checks up on us and knows a head of time what to bring to the table. My favorite place to eat they never disappoint Service always good and and people very nice. You have to love you can go to that family restaurant and have a great meal
Jun 23, 2018Previous reviewJust had another amazing meal here. My glass of water never emptied thanks to our incredible waitress Patty. The food. Let me just say. The best Latin food anywhere not just south Florida,I really mean it anywhere. I had the roasted pork, wife had shrimp and rice in the garlic tomato sauce. If you want phenomenal food, you just got to try this place,

Cuban Sandwich is made with the proper ingredients & good quality nice value for it size at $8.99 (which I guess includes small FF side?) What I had ordered was a Side dish of black beans & rice. (Not FF) (I guess no substitutions ? ) additional cost for white rice & black beans $7.00.
Service was quick & efficient, but not accurate or clear. (Language Barriers ?)
Ambiance was clean, but place was empty at dinner time.
Music oddly was retro English pop
No tap water available, only water bottle $1.50, No fountain sodas, so No refill soda optionsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 6, 2015Previous reviewThe Black bean Cafe 6-15-15

We first heard how good this place was in an article in the local paper about great and cheap spots in Hollywood and Dania. We love Cuban so we made the drive and were already talking about going back before we were done with dinner. This place is wonderful. Spotless inside, really nice staff and big, delicious portions. I had fried chicken chunks and my husband had beef Vaca Frita. With a couple beers, deserts and coffee and tip the whole bill was just over $40. The traditional grilled buttered bread was complimentary. We took home enough for leftovers dinner the next night. Excellent, every bite.

In on a Thursday at 5.
Trying something different.
ORDERED:
Carne asada (Flap steak, or flap meat
is a beef steak cut from the obliquus internus
abdominis muscle of the bottom sirloin.
It is generally very thin, fibrous and chewy,
but flavorful, and often confused with
both skirt steak and hanger steak)
cooked medium with Moros Rice. $14.99
The last time I had this it was tough
but I had to give it another try.
It was cooked just right and was not to chewy.
Since the tenderness is not consistent,
I probably would not order it again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 6, 2023Previous reviewThis review is based SOLELY on this meal.
In for dinner on a Wednesday.
This is my go to place for Roast Pork
which is ALWAYS GOOD.
Sometimes I try something different.
Today I ordered Carne Asada (the inside cut of
skirt steak which is tougher than the outside cut
which is used for Churrasco Steak)
because the server said it was good.
The flavor was good but it was SOOOOO Tough
and Stringy there was nothing I could do to it to
make it edible.
No way I could recommend this dish.
Carne Asada, Rice & Beans and Plantains. $14.99.Jul 12, 2023Previous reviewIn on a Friday at 4 for dinner.
Wanted something different than
my usual Roast Pork.
Picked the Steak Milanesa.
A breaded palomilla steak
with red sauce, ham and cheese.
Very tender and very good.
I would order it again.
As always, service is very good.Feb 8, 2023Previous reviewBack again for my roast pork fix.
Tonight it was especially good.
Mentioned to the server I wanted inside cuts.
The outside cuts are over done and crispy.
I usually do this but sometimes I forget.
Roast pork with grilled onions, black beans,
white rice, plantains, a bottled iced tea and a flan.
$19.78 including tax.Apr 2, 2022Previous reviewMy favorite place for roast pork.
Was just in for it a few days ago so I wanted
something different.
Never had a Cuban Sandwich here before today.
The sandwich was a good size and came with fries. $7.99
The problem was it had lots of ham but VERY little pork.
I had to really dig into it to find the pork.
This made it more of a ham sandwich than a Cuban.
Still my favorite Cuban restaurant,
but not for a Cuban sandwich.Dec 8, 2021Previous reviewAbout time to update The Black Bean Cafe.
Been back many times since my last review.
Always good but this time was special.
In on a Wednesday around 5:30 for dinner.
Not busy when I got there but was when I left.
Usually order Roast Pork.
This my go to place for that meal.
Tonight I ordered Churrasco Steak for a change.
$ 19.95 with Black Beans, Rice, and sweet plantains.
Not a large portion but sufficient for a medium appetite.
I recently had one I thought was "pretty good" at another
restaurant with a friend but I have never had one here.
Perfectly cooked, (medium) with a great flavor and VERY tender.
The best Churrasco I have ever had.
Service is always very good.
Will be back for sure.Jun 15, 2019Previous reviewWhat can I say about this place other than it's worth the drive from North Miami for their excellent food, service and prices. Never had a bad experience here. I'm glad they survived the road construction in front of their place. It took forever to finish and had to affect their business. I will be back for sure.
Jan 28, 2016Previous reviewBeen back several times since my last review.
Service is very good and bread came out right away.
Had Roast Pork with grilled onions, plantains, rice and black beans.
Also had a side of Boiled Yuca with Mojo and grilled onions.
Food is always very good.
Portions are good as is their prices.
Total dinner was only $12.13.
Had to bring some home.
Will be back for sure.Aug 22, 2014Previous review4 in for dinner on a Thursday at 6:30. Not very busy. Had to ask for hot bread. 1/2 pitcher of Sangria 7.50 -- Too sweet, not much wine flavor. Skirt Steak with beans and rice and sweet plantains 13.95 -- very good. Roast Pork with beans and rice and sweet plantains 8.95 -- Good but a small portion of pork compared to other restaurants. Shrimp in garlic sauce with beans and rice and sweet plantains 12.95 -- Good but needed more shrimp for the price.
Overall, a good place to eat and the service was good. As others have said, this restaurant looks better from the inside than the outside. We will go back. - D L.Hollywood, FL447627Apr 7, 2024
Would I recommend? Yes, yes, and yes. I've lived in Hollywood for over 28 years and this little tiny building didn't seem appealing enough for me to ever stop by. My son went to a barber in the area who recommended it and oh my goodness, this is my new favorite spot for the best Latin food. Honestly, it felt like you were visiting friends because they gave plenty of food and the cost was just right. Everything was delicious and tasty. Like I said it is an older building. You could tell it's been there for well over 30 years, nothing fancy on the inside, but the staff was awesome and their English was limited. They did try very hard to speak to us and understand us all I mentioned that because I've been to several Latin restaurants where they seem to get upset when we do not speak any Spanish I will definitely be getting food from here again and again, they did not disappoint and like I said it's like a little hole in the wall, but it's on the corner. There's ample parking. The staff is great and don't drive too fast or you might miss it.

Quick & friendly service, good food & not crazy expensive. $2 empanada de carne, $8.99 almuerzo especial bistec de pallormina, $3 o $3.5 cerveza, con agua de mineral (Perrier) para $3 más.
The hot sauce was good, not face melting hot, but good flavor. Steak was a little tough, but it was well seasoned. The empanada was good, clearly it was either fried or baked, not nuked in the microwave.
I appreciated the opportunity to use my Spanish since I just got back from Guatemala after living abroad most of the last 16 months. I got maybe one question in English which actually felt odd at the end jajajajajajaHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cristina M.Miami Beach, FL062Mar 20, 2024

Drove by and had to pull a uie because anyplace that looks like it's been there for 50 years has to be good, and it was. We had just gotten off a cruise, and we're heading back to Tampa but had to compare cuban food. We had the pork and a cuban. Maybe not as perfect as my favorite cuban restaurant in deland, Chicas but close. Go here if you can.
