Food is delicious as always... we got the basil fried rice togo and their spice level is on the spicier end so make sure you specify less spicy if you can't handle as much. We also got a pad see eww and it was so tasty! Tofu is perfectly fried. Soft outer fried skin and inner as well. Unlike many other tofu dishes else where, they are tad bit too tough to chew on the exterior.
Service is amazing. They are super hospitable. They remember me after almost 10 years of being out of state and treated me so special when I came back. From waitresses to owners, everyone was so kind and welcoming!
The interior hasn't changed much since I was last here. It has a Thai-feel ambiance, vintage style.
Their pricing only increased a dollar since 10 years ago...despite covid and inflation . They said they want to keep things affordable for the locals who are they regular, long term customers. How amazing is that!
We will miss your food!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Gladys S.PA, PA27214Mar 19, 2024
Good was very good and fresh. Ordering in line was very easy and pickup was very easy. Large portions and when you ask for HOT, that's what you get.

While I still think Thai Rak Thai is good food, COVID changed the way they do business.
Gone is the indoor dining, the BYOB dinner, and nice atmosphere.
The food is still good if you want to take it home, but take out is still take out and Thai Rak Thai was a really enjoyable dining in experience.
Unfortunately, great meals are not as common, when all you have is a take out joint.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 21, 2015Previous reviewI never really gave Thai food much thought until I tried Thai Rak Thai. Now it's a favorite. If eating there, It's BYOB which is always a good thing.
The entrées are reasonably priced. My favorite, Drunken Noodles (Pad See Ew), goes for $10.95 with other dinners similarly priced. The Gang Jued Woon Sen soup is a pork / mushroom soup and pretty outstanding. Some dishes are spicy so be forewarned, but you can scale it from 1-5. My dishes were 4's and they were real spicy. No way with a 5. Good thing the server is real quick with drink and water refills.
Thai Rak Thai is a staple now, my wife and I will choose it over Chinese take out since they both turn out to be similarly priced in the end. Difference is this food is much better than take out Chinese. Whether you eat at the restaurant or get take out. Thai Rak Thai is good stuff. - Erica D.Philadelphia, PA03Feb 5, 2024
Always super solid food. We typically order delivery, which arrives quickly and hot. Best Thai in Scranton, IMO.

Pretty good, Chinese style Thai is what I'm getting here. I like both so I'm in. Parking stinks. I like this place but it doesn't taste like full on Thai. I'll return anyway.

Glad I read reviews first and did an Uber eats instead of going their to eat and be disappointed that it's a take out.
For some reason when I was ordering the food, the Penang curry did not have a chicken option so I stuck with tofu. However, chicken was on the menu and I got the chicken salad, too, which was nothing great, and the chicken was highly overcooked. The fried rice was pretty bland and I think I have had way better pineapple fried rice elsewhere. Last but not least, despite of requesting utensils from them, the food arrived with none. Yes, that was upsetting, because I am visiting the area and staying at a hotel, which does not provide any utensils. When I called the restaurant, all that the lady said was next time, she will give me double utensils. What a comment !!!! all in all, I don't think the food was as great, as the hype around this places. They need to get better and yes, I do agree with some of the other reviewer's on their portion size it is much less compared to other Thai places.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Iris W.Orlando, FL02Aug 11, 2023

Delicious! The Tom kha soup and massaman curry do not disappoint. I have ordered these on numerous occasions and have been pleased every time. They are very pleasant to deal with and super accommodating.

When I was headed back to Jersey I wanted to grab lunch and came across this spot. I called in my order of the vegetable dumplings, spring rolls and spaghetti kee mao. When I arrived I parked nearby. I walked in and seen they only do take out and my food still wasn't ready. I waited ablut 6 minutes or so and a man brought my food out. I asked him for hot and duck sauce. He brought out one duck sauce packet lol and I asked for another and he seemed hesitant but he gave me one more. He was trying to be stingy with the duck sauce lol. I paid about $18 and left. When I got in I ate and everything was good. I enjoyed the spaghetti the most. All in all I had a pretty decent experience.
