A long, long time ago, overplowing in thr morthern tier of states and strong prevailing winds blew the topsoil of Kansas, Colorado, Montana and South Dakota into the Texas Panhandle.

It was called "The Dust Bowl". It shredded the US economy, upending the lives of many. Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" is a microtome slice of those millions of stories.

Why do I tell you this? Because three of my grand-uncles stayed put, toughing it out in the Panhandle. My grandmother grew up cooking for them and a host of farm snd ranch hands.

Sundays in Los Angeles our family sat diwn to fried chucken, real msshed potsties with chicken gravy and any number of sides.

TexAZ is that for me. I enjoy the food immensely and nostalgically. In Grandma's childhood the chuken and beefvwrre home-grown, varfish caught in local water bodies. Life's changed. I thank the msny beasts whi've shared their fleshy goodness with me. Especially breaded and fried.

This place is so bad that my wife and I left without eating our "food" and went to Harvey's for a wine burger (real food).
TEXAZ is by far the worst restaurant food we have ever had - McDonalds is multiple steps up!
Giving this place a single star is giving it waaaaaaay too much credit but I have no choice based on Yelp rules.

On Halloween we called to make sure they were open normal business hours and the girl we talked to said yes, open until 9. We got there around 8:15.

We tried to pull open the doors and they were locked...

Understandable if they want to close early for a holiday but, we had called to check so it was a super disappointing experience to have went out of the way to call and check, drive there, and then been lied to. Doubly disappointed because I had been dreaming about the food all evening and had excitedly told the neighbors where we were going after festivities.

Called the next day to talk to a manager because I was so dissatisfied and the first one we talked to was very understanding and said the manager on duty the night before would give us a call later to make it right. He never did, so I called the restaurant back later that evening thinking perhaps they had forgotten and asked to speak to a manager and the girl on the phone asked if this was about the Halloween incident...

Why would another staff member who wasn't a manager know about this unless they had been talking about it to other staff??? I made sure to only tell a manager about the experience. It's very disrespectful that the staff had been talking about us... very unprofessional.

Nonetheless was then transferred to the manager who had been working the night previously. Told him the experience and he couldn't have sounded more bothered to listen to me. He also lied to me. Said that they had locked the doors at 8:30 bc it was slow. I remember checking the time on my phone. I don't go to restaurants 30 mins before closing unless it's to go because I work in the industry. It was 8:20 when I looked at my phone after trying the door because we had a quick smoke before trying to go inside.

All I got was a, "sorry we disappointed you". Normally when a restaurant makes a mistake on their end they offer some sort of apology gesture to promote a good relationship and we received nothing on the promise that they would make it right.

Overall very very bad customer service perhaps the worst I've gotten in the valley. So sad because the food is so good but it was not an enjoyable experience to be made to feel like a burden, the staff talking about the experience when they should have never known, have been lied to twice, and then received nothing after everything to bring our business back after such a poor experience.

Was craving them so bad that night but now I don't think I'll ever crave them again. Had heard they were under new management...and it shows.

This is the best place to eat. I feel like I am home when eating there. The prices, amount of food and service are outstanding. The only issue is the parking situation , the lot is just too small.

Amazing amazing! My bartender was awesome and he was the one that also took my order. I came in and my order wasn't ready so I asked if I could sit at the bar. At first the greeter was a little skeptical of me because to be honest the restaurant gives a 'certain' feel. It's very 'Texas'... anyways I wanted to give it a try because I love steak and prime rib. My bartender was nice and attentive. The food was delicious and hot!! Don't judge the outside/inside look. They were very nice people

Couldn't have asked for a better meal for the prices presented. Steak has a buttery flavor and the mashed potatoes are thick and smothered in gravy! The chicken fried steak was definitely one of the best I've had, with a crispy crust!
On top of everything our server was very kind and was hustling multiple tables at once but never forgot about us.

For as long as I've known my husband, he's liked chicken fried steak. (Chicken fried anything, frankly.) He even made it at home once and it was pretty ehhh mediocre despite the fact he's a really good cook. So the thought of finally driving out to try Texaz Grill didn't have me too excited. Fun fact: it was actually the night of our twenty fifth anniversary, but we had a fancy dinner scheduled for the weekend. Marriage is about compromise, so...

This place was great! I ordered the chicken fried steak because you have to order their specialty. The meat was tender, (something I did not expect) the breading was crispy, hot and expertly fried. I loved that it didn't taste greasy or heavy. Loved the light spice of the gravy. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. Even the Little Tex with just one steak was ginormous- I had to take half home along with half of the mashed potatoes. They bring out a salad or slaw plus biscuits with your meal so you will be full.

The restaurant has a nice roadhouse charm to it and the service is very friendly. Moral of the story: Step out of your comfort zone and try that place your spouse likes. You might be surprised.

Recommend by a friend we stopped in with a large party. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was nice but short with us. The place wasn't overly busy but it was possible her section was. We ordered several ribeyes, a New York and the chicken friend steak between us. The ribeyes were ok, nothing to brag about. The New York was the best tasting of the steaks but still an average steak and the best tasting meal. The chicken fried steak was fresh and large. I ordered the small one because I was unable to really judge the sizes from pics. This is the best chicken fried steak I've had while in AZ. It's not a frozen hockey puck that's been warmed up. It's definitely a homemade meal but breading was much more than the actual stead hidden inside. The gravy was very tasty and made the meal. We topped it all off with their Sunday which was good l, the cobbler was excellent and the bread pudding wasn't bad. All in all, I would drive out of my way to eat here but I would come again.

The food gets 2 stars but because the service and ambiance were good the total stars is bumped up to 3.
The ambiance felt like you were in an old Texas saloon with the memorabilia hanging all over the walls. The waitress was very attentive and had a great personality. The food is where I was not impressed. I ordered a filet with mashed potatoes and a salad. The filet was very tasteless and bland. The mashed potatoes were extremely dry and also bland. The salad was basically a plate of iceberg lettuce with a sprinkle of tomatoes and olives, not what I would consider much of a salad. The biscuits served in a basket tasted like the frozen biscuits you buy from a bag at the grocery store. I can get a much tastier meal from Texas Roadhouse.
