I wish I had better things to say for this place. I bought a Groupon voucher back in January. I only get one or two Saturdays a year off, so I scheduled an LTC class for March (my only free Saturday until December) and waited patiently. A few days before the class, I got an email saying it had been cancelled and I should pick another Saturday (not an option for me). To his credit, Dan offered to work out a time with me if I couldn't do another scheduled day. I didn't want him to have to do that though , so I scheduled again for April when Friday classes started again.

I'm a stay home dad during the normal work week. My wife arranged for that Friday off from work (no small task for her) to stay with the kids so that I could finally get this class done. 8pm the night before the class...I get an email saying the class has again been cancelled due to a scheduling error and I should, again, pick a Saturday class. I emailed Dan to voice my disbelief and frustration. I haven't heard back.

Groupon's refund policy is "all sales final after 3 days from purchase." This had stopped me from trying that route previously. In my frustration with the situation, I decided to ask anyway. Thankfully, someone at Groupon customer service was able to grant me a full refund the same day. Better service from a big online outfit than the local independent!

Dan is a great instructor and the class was a smaller size which allows him to give one on one instruction. Highly recommended!!

To be honest, I was not looking forward to the long class session but it wasn't bad at all. Fun time, easy test, as long as you pay attention. Dan is a hoot and he's working on his Political Correctness loved the outdoor shooting qualification portion. My husband and I will definitely be taking ongoing lessons with Texan Defender. I passed, 242/250 isn't too bad. My husband got a perfect score.

The pistol class was very comprehensive and well communicated. We appreciated that the firing range for practice was outdoors due to COVID. Would highly recommend Dan's class, he is very knowledgeable and a real straight shooter, in more ways than one!

Just took the CHL/LTC (License To Carry) class and I'm so glad I took Dans class. Knowledgeable, kind, really made the class comfortable. Class room is just off 35 and Austin st. in Georgetown, Texas. Gun range is a few miles away just 3.3 miles. There was another instructor at the range so any questions were answered right then, even in class we we're asking all sorts of questions. Thank you Dan and Joe with Texan Defender's!! OH...everyone in class passed, I think I shot the lowest score. Schedule now for a class with Christmas, classes will fill up fast.
Thank you, I feel more comfortable now after taking the class with handling, shooting and drawing my weapon as a last resort for the safety of my family.

Dan is a great teacher, no ego, no showing off, funny, knowledgeable, it is a safe space while dealing with a scary subject.
I took the class a few months ago, and got my girlfriend into the class, he even let me sit in on the class and the range qualifications with my girlfriend for support, just cause. (She didn't need it, but it was cool to be there)
I recommend Texan Defender, and Dan to anyone that will listen, even if it is a little extra drive, do it there, you won't be sorry!!!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate Dan and his team. He has a deep and genuine concern for the wellbeing of his students. I completed the LTC course and range qualification with no problem. Also, my wife isn't interested in an LTC but she did take a gun safety class from Don. Thanks again Dan.

Had an awesome experience here. I took an LTC class that I found on Groupon, was a great deal. Dan is hilarious and is an encyclopedia of firearm knowledge. This class is not for snowflakes - Dan does not care about your feelings! Show up ready to learn and to adhere to his rules, especially when you get on the range. The class structure (at least the one I took) was we started in the classroom to go over a few introductory things, then went out on the range, then back to the classroom to wrap up. You take a test at the end, get your certificate, and that's that. Plan to make a day out of it. Would absolutely recommend Texan Defender !

Great class!! Could not have imagined a better instructor.
Came away from the class with a better undertanding of Texas laws and the overall liability of gun ownership.

Dan has created the ultimate playground of a shooting range. (minus watermelons....but Dan said anytime I want to come back I can shoot one lol)

Hollywood-inspired blood soaked zombies, clowns, skeet shooting, and clay targets.

The highlight of my shooting experience a bowling pinball setup where you can "bowl" with friends by shooting down pins -- all beautifully placed on his green sunny ranch.

It was a wonderful Sunday with my friends playing shooting games outside in the country.

Dan (owner/teacher) was so accommodating and understanding to our group for being so late for the Scifi-Shootout we signed up for on Groupon. You can tell that he's a nice guy- bad ass Texan gun enthusiast with a keen sense of humor.

There are 22s available to rent along with ammo, eye and ear protection for target practice. He even set up his skeet machine and clays for us!

I will NEVER go back to an indoor range as long as Dan is running his outdoor shooting range ::ahem R*ds::. Paper targets? Boring....

Do yourself a favor this weekend call Dan up --

relieve some stress, go alone, grab some friends, get some sun and shoot some sh*t. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
