I went there while on a trip to VA. My entire family got sick. I decided to look them up online and found this: http://hamptonroads.com/newsdata/restaurant-inspections/locality/hampton/restaurant/teppanyaki-grill-buffet/1583571

My husband and i went in for dinner tonight. I really like their cheesesteak roll thingys, but tonight they didn't have them, and my husband likes their tuna sushi but they didn't have that either :( dissapointed.
Our waiter was not around when my water was empty. Tried to flag down 2 other waitresses that were nearby, they ignored me. I got up with my empty water glass and went over to a table with water and tea pitchers and poured my own water. The waitresses didn't even flinch and they were standing right there. Also they have cleaning products on the same table with the pitchers and silverware, this has got to be a health code violation.
They were squeeging the hall floor that leads to the restrooms. I almost fell twice, it was really wet!
Food was ok, service was terrible.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 1, 2012
Buffets sure are popular in Hampton! It's wasted on me but for $6.95 it's no biggie.
TONS of food. A big selection of different foods, so it's good for groups for individuals with different tastes: carbs, meats, fried foods, etc. There is an obscene amount of food.
The sushi bar was my FAVORITE thing--tons of different sushis, clean and fresh. The two men stand the entire time behind the sushi bar and make fresh rolls the entire time. A lot of cream cheese rolls, tuna, etc; and some veggie, too. Their seaweed salad is good.
There is SO much fried food so if that's your thing, you'll love it.
The chicken and meat are fatty looking to me though. In the back to the left of the hibachi, there's a grilled meats sections with steaks and sausages.
No one goes to these places for salads, but the salad bar looked REALLY disappointing.
Dessert: small ice cream cups, cheap cakes, puddings, fruit. The fondue bar is supposed to be the highlight (it's in their advertisements), but it's really low quality chocolate and it's runny, thin, and cold (fondue is usually MELTED, WARM chocolate, right??).
I didn't do hibachi, but I looked it over. It seemed like a big selection to throw in there.
Ambiance is cool. In the front they have a big fish pond with hundreds of goldfish. It's kind of loud inside because of all the groups, but whatever.
Our waiter was okay. He was nice, but he wasn't very attentive; we had to ask for our drink refills--three times (once for each person in my group!). Oh, one gross thing--I thought he was just taking our glasses away to get rid of them, but I found my old straw in my refilled drink when he came back. I got paranoid it was someone else's glass cause it's so busy and it's probably easy to get sidetracked. Next time, I'll make sure to ask for a new glass for the refill!!!
I mean no major complaints--lunch is ONLY $6.95.
I'll definitely be back for sushi and seaweed salad! TOTALLY a deal for $6.95!!!!
I'm surprised by the low stars for this restaurant. I'm not quite sure what people think a $6.95 buffet is supposed to offer them. Champagne and caviar?
Suggestions:
Get rid of the salad bar!!! Even the lettuce leaves look sad.
More high quality dessert items (suggestions: cookies, strawberries)
If we have to get new plates for the buffet each time, I suggest waiters give us CLEAN, NEW glasses for each drink!!!
The fish pond water looked dingy and unclean. Not something you want to see before you eat.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rob H.Yorktown, VA06Aug 18, 2015
If you go here, don't pay with a credit card. Our party all had cards compromised after eating here on 7 August. Cards were cloned and swiped for a test. Everyone had a similar small swipe at the same place before large charges were made.
Oh, yeah, the food. Typical low end Asian buffet.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brandis R.Newport News, VA11Feb 23, 2012
I had my son's bday dinner here with about 60 people from the beginning te customer service was bad but we stayed the food was great had a wide selection. It came Time to pay and this was horrible I paid with a card tab was about $30.. Waitress brings me a had full of cash and a receipt from my card that was charged $50. Umm no she wanted to pay the difference in cash cause they over charged my card! I was so mad asked to speak to manager and a lady comes out holding and infant baby. As we talking she is still holding this baby like its ok to address customers issues holding your baby. After fussing with her and yet another manager they finally voided te charged te correct amount. They held my money pending for 5 days. It was a mess
I suggest that if you do here pay in cash because I found out they did they same thing to a friend of mine as well and hold to void her card and do it again her bill was $15 they charged likeHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brie L.Seattle, WA6202Sep 3, 2014
First of all, the sushi pictures on this page ARE NOT ACCURATE. We went because we got these coupons, and once I looked over their website and this page I figured - why not? I could go for some affordable sushi.
However, this is NOT a sushi bar. They have sushi, yes, but the selection of the sushi is so limited it makes me wonder why they even have it at all. I found it to be very misleading - perhaps a way to get more customers - and was unimpressed. If you're going to advertise a lot of sushi, then you should deliver on that promise. All they had were regular california rolls, a couple cream cheese rolls, 3 types of sashimi, and one type of fried sushi. DON'T go there for sushi.
Beyond that, though, they had a wide selection of Asian foods. I tried to orange chicken (tasted like your typical Chinese fast food joint, a dime a dozen) the spring rolls were undercooked, which is disappointing because I can honestly eat just about any spring roll you put in front of me.Don't even touch the Mac&Cheese, it doesn't have anything that even tastes like cheese in it.
Overall everything was extremely hit or miss. I liked a few things, for the price, but honestly it's just a typical, run-of-the-mill low-quality buffet place. Their waitstaff was great, and were always there to take away our plates, but other than that - this places blows. Go to Soya.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Heather R.Saratoga Springs, NY416Feb 6, 2015
While not amazing, the food is decent and there's tons of variety. I especially like the hibachi and fresh made sushi.
I love the koi pond in the front too!
Negatives: they can be a bit slow with drink refills, and I wish they'd have snow crab legs again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - brad r.Hampton, VA218715Jun 5, 2014
It's consistently good been there 20+ times and the food is always good. I like the nonchinese food better than the Chinese food.
They have the best seasoned pork chops I've ever had. The parking lot is crowded so parking is hard to find sometimes.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Spencer P.Vista, CA25331Jun 13, 2014
So so food. Everything was sub par. I guess that's what you get in a buffet.
I am visiting from San Diego maybe I am just a little spoiled.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
