Tengda of Westport

Not sure what to make of Tangada. I have tried it twice: first time - eat in (at 2:30pm) for lunch and it wasn't very good. I found the fish somewhat refrigerator-tasting and otherwise not very good. A 2-star experience.

The second try was for take-away. Ordered about 10 pieces of sushi and a special roll. All was delicious. In fact , it was 4-star quality.

So, I've averaged the two and have given it a three stars rating. Perhaps if we try it again, it'll clarify what this sushi place is, 2 or 4 stars.

When this opened it was so exciting and electric. I think this is where I first had scallion pancake. Everything was so amazing back then but over the years many similarly innovative Asian fushion restaurants have opened dimming the luster of Tengda.

It's out of my way but I decided to give it another try and was stoked to see the 15% Yelp discount. No surprise, no one knew anything about it and didn't honor it. They made it sound like lunch was cheaper anyhow? Idk it didn't make sense, and, no, lunch is not cheaper.

The eggplant dish shown can be had for lunch prices down the road at Village Gourmet or even Little Kitchen, I believe. It was good but not great enough to have me go out of the way in the future.

I wish them the best and if you are nearby, you will get a meal with fresh ingredients.

High end presentation. Great portions of Asian Fusion cuisine. The appetizers are all home runs and tasty.

Literally my favorite go to for shrimp and broccoli! I tried all the Chinese restaurants and this is my favorite! The owner Steve is so kind too! Always makes me feel special when I come in! Hope you enjoy your next meal there!!

My review from years ago is gone. A few years ago I really thought this place went downhill. When first went 8 years ago, it was great. We stopped going for the past few years but after so many bad take-out meals lately I gave it another shot today. The hibachi salmon bento box lunch was absolutely delicious and a great size portion! Thanks Tengda, the only good lunch I've had in town for a while!

This used to be a staple in Westport, but since being sold a few years ago- it has slowly gone down hill. I always go for their Hot and Sour Soup. It is one thing that has been a staple of Tengda's constistantly.
Other than that, I always go for their Sushi!

I greatly enjoy the food and ambiance at tengda, however, this is the second time they have ushered my table at 9 pm. The hours of operation shouldn't say open until 945 - you will be rushed out at 9 with them saying they're closed.

Very good quality food. Good sized portions. Fresh cooked vegetables, still have some crunch. Light and crispy spring rolls and good sushi. A consistently high standard.

Never order from here, especially not on Uber eats. We ordered food from here on Uber eats, the order was accepted, and being worked on for an hour. When I called the restaurant to see what was up, the man who answered the phone proceeded to yell at me, and tell me that he was not on Uber eats. Okay...figured it was a misunderstanding, whatever.

I couldn't cancel the order since it was already accepted so I called him back and asked him to see if maybe he could cancel on his end? Well, that was a mistake, because one again we were yelled at, accused of running a scam (???), asked "do you know who I am?!" (???? No??? I just wanted sushi???)

Still can't cancel the order, still see it being "worked on", still have a $70 charge on my card that I'm going to have to spend time on the Uber eats helpline to clear.

I'm generally really supportive of restaurants, especially at this time, and I was happy to support somewhere local. But there are plenty of restaurants in Westport that are worth supporting and giving your money to, not one who employs people who insist on screaming at customers when they try to get some help with the order they placed at your restaurant.
