Younger crowd (im 33 for reference)
Dj was nice the saturday night i was there, music was diverse but mostly hip hop
Its Small ! So expect to be very close to others. It gets crowded. Very small seating area in the rear if u get there early enough, bathroom is down the stairs in the front.
2 bartenders were on staff which was not enough waited 25-30 mins for shots, cant speak on if they offer food or quality of mixed drinks didnt have any, probably wouldn't have wanted to wait for it either lol
All in all chill spot if you've already found parking on south stHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kay Q.Wilmington, DE0298Feb 9, 2019
I feel bad leaving this review, so I'll make it short. Went in for a drink and a snack, after the smell we walked into we settled for ONE drink. My friend ordered a Soco Manhattan....there were bugs in it. So the bartender brought another. STILL had bugs in it. The whole experience made me cringe. Word of advice: skip this location & head to literally any other spot on South Street.

Came here on a weekend stroll with a friend. Never had been to the bar but we gave it a shot. Walked in place was completely empty., The weather was getting bad so we decided just to stay and wait out the storm. Mistake.
We settled on a pitcher of sangria, we figured we would be there for a while. The bartender seemed nice enough, came up started looking for the supplies to make it, but couldn't find any wine. I figured that it was a bad sign, since the sangria was advertised. He then told us hed be back since he didnt have wine to make the sangria. Came back a few minutes later with no wine in hand... suspicious, how are you going to make sangria without wine. He sets up a few feet away from us, even though there was no one else at the bar at the time just someone at the table . He then starts mixing together PUCKER, like 7 different types. I legit thought he was making a shot of some kind. the mixture comes out bright red, so he pulls out another dark blue PUCKER, and it ends up making a dark purple hue.
He then fills the entire pitcher with ice. and to my shock he puts the entire mixture of 7 PUCKERS in the pitcher, and keeps adding juice and some sort of clear liquid from the fountain gun. He then takes the bottom of a bottle of wine and adds it into this mixture of pucker and juice, throw some cherries on it and a few slices of orange and gives it to us. I text my friend and im like there was no rum, or vodka, a splash of wine and no sugar... this is not sangria this is PURPLE DRANK.
within the 1st glass both of our stomachs were hurting. When you thought it could not get worse a few girls walk into the bar and the bartender turns the music way up. There are 6 people in the bar and i cant hear the person next to me because the music is so loud, and worse its some sort of super sexualized R&B, at 4 oclock in the afternoon. Ww power through the Purple Drank and decide not to go ahead and order another as stomach ulcers were a distinct possibility
We decide to leave i get an uber friend pays for the purple drank. She tells me that the bartender asks her how much she wants to tip, that he can put it in directly she doesn't have to write it down. WTF?!?!?!? I guess he was trying to intimidate her into tipping him more.

We found this place by accident however I'm very glad we did. It was Monday and they had $5 margaritas, we tried about 4 different ones and they were all delicious and a very big size especially for the price. We also tried the wings and supreme nachos with chili and both were pretty good.
Dee was our waiter/bartender he was very sweet and took his time making the drinks (you could tell he puts a lot of love into his creations)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2014
My friend just moved to the area and we were looking for new places to eat. We stumbled upon Tavern 222 and decided to give it a shot. It was a Sunday evening, but to my surprise the place was literally empty. On top of that, there was a very unpleasant initial odor in the place, smelled kind of like cat litter. Not sure what it was, but I tried my best to ignore the smell and stay positive about the experience.
It's your typical bar food, but it is not done well. My friend ordered a hamburger and absolutely hated it. Not sure how you can screw up a burger, but I definitley don't want to find out! The food was just, eh. The waitor was very nice and was clearly trying his best to make the experience a good one, but this is not a place worth coming back to. Maybe it's known for its nightlife? I wouldn't come back here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John W.Spring Lake, NJ123235Jan 13, 2016
BEWARE!!!! BARTENDER LETS ANYONE ADD DRINKS TO YOUR TAB!!!
Went here on a Tuesday night ($2 drinks, can't beat that) and everything went well until it came time to close out my tab. During the whole night I kept track of what I was ordering and knew exactly what my bill was going to come to. When the bartender hands me the receipt it says $30 instead of $18. I asked her politely why it is almost double and I told her exactly what I ordered. She then proceeded to tell me that "someone is my group put drinks on my tab." First of all, when I would order a new drink she barely even remembered that I had a tab, and second, what kind of bartender just lets anyone add drinks to someone else's tab when I never gave authorization for it.
I proceeded to tell her that none of my friends would put anything on my tab and she says "the kid in the red sweater." I WAS NOT WITH ANYONE THAT HAD A RED SWEATER ON. So she then gave me some kids receipt and said "this was him." His name was Nicholas; I do not even know a Nicholas in Philadelphia. Anyway, she told me that she could NOT refund me (which is a joke because the POS systems I have used before lets you give refunds), so I didn't feel like putting up a fight and I just disputed the charge on my CC. Terrible bartender and its unfortunate that she had to tarnish the bars reputation like that.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley W.Philadelphia, PA79428Feb 8, 2018
I've been to this bar several times over the past few years and there are a lot of things I enjoy about this establishment. Their happy hour is great, cheap food and drink deals; for less than $25 you'll walk out of here full and tipsy-- I promise. Their prices/deals change so much throughout the day it can be quite confusing. They have everyday deals but they're only for certain hours, even though the hours aren't listed. So be sure to ask before ordering, because the daily deals are listed for all to see but the prices change depending on the time, I don't understand. Also, I've had experiences where different bartenders charged me different prices, super weird. Their food is pretty standard bar food, the drunker you are, the better it will taste lol.
Now this is important depending on the type of person you are. During the week it's pretty chill, usually only a handful of ppl in here. BUT the weekend, it gets really packed. So if you like a chill vibe, come early on the weekends and leave by like 10. Or else it will be chaotic and you'll probably be waiting a while for your drinks. Oh and the music is usually pop/hip hop which is one of the main reasons I enjoy coming here.
I highly suggest you be careful when using your credit card at this establishment. They charged my card up several times in one night after I opened a tab. I tried calling them to dispute it and they never answer their phone, luckily my bank refunded me the money. A week after this incident, I went again (with cash of course) and was informed that it's been happening quite a bit. I spoke to the manager and gave her my info but they never contacted me again. Nonetheless, that didn't stop me from frequenting this bar because I was just here last night and enjoyed myself.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Colleen M.Philadelphia, PA22653518Mar 9, 2017
This is a no frills bar but the bartender was lovely and the drink specials can't be beat. A bucket of full sized beers for $10 and $5 bloodies - sign me up. Tender was the sweetest and so accommodating. I love this bar and I'll be back for more weekend specials.
