I love the convenience of this gym. It is located in the basement level of Sackler. I have been coming here about once a week before/after class or in between classes! This is one way for me to stay healthy, especially to balance my big appetite. :P
This gym is opened to all students at Tufts Med/Dental/PHPD 7 days a week. The gym has around 7-8 treadmills, 5 ellipticals, two free weight stations, 6-8 bicycles, and other machines. There is also a small fitness room to do some stretches and sit ups. Even though the size of this gym is not too big, I never had any trouble dealing with wait time or anything. The hours are pretty flexible so you can definitely squeeze in gym time even though you have a busy schedule.
There are 3 TVs hung on the wall and I always change it to the Food Network while I run. :) The locker and shower rooms are right outside and they do a good job on keeping it clean.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Mar 24, 2012
What can I say, but convenience? It's right downstairs, I can take a quick breathers from my studies, forget about everything and just go workout for a bit. They have a good amount of machines and just enough benches to keep things going. Can get a little packed around 4:30 or 5:00

The equipment is brand new and there are multiple large flat screen TVs for your viewing pleasure. It isn't the biggest of gyms but for its size there is a good amount of machines. My only problem is they do not have a towel service, that means no gym towels for wiping down machines or taking a shower.

It's a gym. With gym stuff. If you've been in this gym, it is likely you are a Tufts medical, dental, or other healthcare-oriented student, faculty, or staff member, so there's little to say about it really...
Pros: It is a gym. Using a gym on a regular basis will increase your healthiness points and expand your longevity meter... or something.
Cons: Dental students, according to the TUSM M'17 Meat Squad. But seriously, though, no towels, which is lame. No straight pull-up bar - I just use the Smith machine. Stuff/equipment gets stolen sometimes, I think. They used to have an ab wheel, but it's no longer there. Wut? And... um... they don't have dumbbells higher than 100lbs - ugh!
I gave this gym 3 stars because gym has three letters in it. I mean at least it's better than the Posner gym...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jonny I.Bellevue, WA132166694Jan 21, 2013
So you are a dental, medical, or nutrition student at the Tufts Health Science campus? Then this will probably be your go-to gym for the next 4 years. Its part of your tuition so you might as well use it. It was a brand new gym in 2011 so if the machines appear dirty or broken, blame your classmates! The traffic here isn't heavy so you should be able to find a machine on most nights.
The gym has most of the necessities to get a full workout including free weights, cardio, and cable/weight machines. There was no decline bench when I was last there and no machine to work your lower back (you'll see ppl just using free weights for that). The cardio machines are usually the ones that will have a wait time if any. There is a small cardio room with full body mirrors that people usually use for stretching but there are fitness classes that the front desk has schedules for that occupy that room at times. There are 40" TVs lining an entire wall with remotes so that you can change channels at will. No music at this gym, the background noise is usually a combination of ppl grunting, food network, a football game, and Keeping up with the Kardashians......all rolled into one. Locker rooms have showers but bring your own soap and towels. The doors are Tufts ID accessed but automatically lock 5 minutes after the gym closes, so don't get stuck talking to your friends outside the locker rooms if you have your stuff inside.
One huge downside is the lack of a basketball court, this place is way too small for that. You will have to get a membership at the Chinatown Wang YMCA if you want to ball. But this place isn't bad for a quick workout between study sessions in the library, after school, or if you live near campus. Just don't wear your scrubs to work out, everyone who goes there knows you are in the health field. Get over it...plus its disgusting.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kristine H.Los Angeles, CA28811027Jan 14, 2012
not very big, clean, has everything you need (mats, free weights, ellipticals, treadmills, most machines, etc etc). not too busy on a saturday morning. perfect for a quick workout! everything feels CLEAN and people here actually wipe the equipment down (good for them!)
