Even though it is a warm day the smells wafting from the food truck were just too good to pass up. I asked Kathy (the owner) what her favorite was and she told me exactly what to get. The food did not disappoint. The lumpias are to die for and the chicken bowl was outstanding too. Kathy is super friendly also which made it different than most of the food trucks I have tried. Can't wait to come back to civic center eats next week and eat here again!

A Taste of the Phillipines was parked outside Stem Cider last Friday, and it seemed like getting a snack to go along with our drinks was a good idea. All we tried were the lumpias-- Filipino egg rolls-- but they were great! They were made-to-order and super fresh, perfectly crispy with a yummy handmade sweet & sour sauce. And at $1.50 each, they're a great deal.
The lady running the truck was super nice, and is obviously a great cook. If I ever see the truck again I'll definitely be trying more of the menu.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dave W.Denver, CO16651Dec 30, 2018

Kathy is such a sweet person who knows how to make Filipino dish from scratch! Her Chicken Adobo and Beef Skewers are amazing!
The service and hospitality that Kathy provides for her customers is pretty awesome!
Her location / food truck at Finns Manor is pretty cleaver, there's a sitting area, bar for adult beverages, but also virgin drinks for tweens! Want some Filipino food in Downtown Denver, go to A Taste of the Philippines! Mabuhay!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - S F.Usa, Japan2111033Sep 19, 2017
We met Kathy at a group catering event at a buddy's house last weekend. She is awesome! So personable, congenial, and a great person to converse with. Wait!! What about the food? First thing she made was were chicken skewers. Tasty marinade and "small," just like in PI! Next were the lumpia, made with ground beef. These were not a hit with me. They appeared not to have enough filling inside, so it was like I was eating fried dough. There was deep fried lechon, which I heard was very good, but since I don't eat pork.......There were two chicken dishes. One called "adobo chicken...." and the other made with coconut milk. The one with the coconut milk was THE bomb dig!! In fact, I went back for seconds even though I was stuffed! I'm a nut for coco-nuts! Finally, there was a banana dessert, which I found very tasty.
Kathy--if you ever come to San Diego, let us know!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Demitri R.Seattle, WA3511641916May 28, 2013
After Reading the Review in 5280 Magazine I knew I had to try the Chicken Adobo.
I tracked her down over Memorial Day weekend.
Ordered Chicken Adobo With White Rice and Lumpia.
The Chicken adobo was delicious I mixed it in with the white rice and it was more than filling. For 7.50 its a big place. I could Taste the vinegar but wasn't overpowering. The sauce was thick and complemented the rice nicely. Big Chunks of chicken.
The Lumpia was hand made and the sweet and sour sauce was delicious. I could Devour the Lumpia by itself MMMM. Hopefully she is there more often. And shes totally personable and doesn't mind conversing while your food is cooking.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - R. Tony S.Denver, CO529234419Sep 17, 2015
Incredible and authentic taste of the Philippines! The lumpia was just about as good as my mother's, and her lechon kawali was scrumptious! She has a little food truck that goes everywhere!

What I had? Combo platter (Bistek Tagalog, Manok Sagata, rice, and lumpia)
Food review: I can't say I've had too much exposure to filipino food before so I was a bit excited to give it a go. Started out with the lumpia which is probably the best darn egg roll I've ever had. If I were to come back, I'd just have Lumpia I think. :-) The Bistek Tagalog and Manok Sagata on the other hand were just kind of meh. The Tagalog tastes a little bit on the sharp (sour?) side. The Sagata tasted a little reminiscient of a Thai curry but had a little more of a savory taste to it (and once again a little "sharp" tasting). I'm glad I got to try it out but the two main entrees were just ok. The lumpia, for sure, is the highlight.
Service? No complaints
Other thoughts: Pretty good price and not that bad of a wait.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello Jeffrey,
Thank you so much for your input in both dishes :) I always appreciate honest feed backs because it'll only make me better at my cooking. I have made some changes to both dishes to give them a little more punch and less of the sharp taste. I'd love for you to check them out again and also enjoy the other two dishes I have in hand.... I'll also throw in a lumpia :)
Thanks again for your feed back,

I came across Kathy's truck while stopping by Stem Ciders. Cherry and I already had an order of burgers to-go waiting inside our car for later, when our friends came inside with food from A Taste of the Philippines. It smelled so damn good. I had a taste. I wanted more. We said we can always eat the burgers tomorrow. Right now, there was some Chicken Adobo to eat!
We went outside to the truck, ordered, and got to chatting with Kathy for a bit. We were telling her that I've had Filipino food before and I was never impressed, until now! The flavors were so rich, complex, and well-balanced. Kathy said she learned to cook from her mom, who was a chef at a high-end hotel in the Philippines.
We also talked about making the leap to entrepreneurship. Kathy mentioned that she was an accountant before and we hit it off on that, since I was an accountant before starting my own business too. We asked her how life is different nowadays and she said it's busy but fulfilling. She said she takes care of everything right now because she's committed to quality, in both her cooking and her customer service. Well Kathy, it definitely shows!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to review the truck and giving it such an awesome compliment. As the business owner I strive to have the best flavors for people to enjoy! The goal for the business was to expand people's pallets to the Filipino cuisine and I'm so glad I didn't disappoint :)
I hope when you come back and visit Denver that you will come by to say hi again!
Thank you again,

This is the best food truck/stand I've experienced in Denver. Maybe anywhere. Everything is done so well. Philippine food is certainly underrepresented and the young chef who runs this truck makes you wonder why. But it's pretty clear that she's especially skilled. When you encounter someone who cooks what they love and does it so well, it is a true pleasure.
The food is reasonably priced and the owner is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Philippine food is somewhat like other Asian cuisines but has its own style. Not spicy but tremendously flavorful. And this is the place to try it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
