So we had not been to this place in so many years and we went for a special occasion. We walked in and the place was empty and the lady who worked there was on the phone. She sat us and continued to talk on the phone while she got us water and etcetera. We placed our order and waited for our food. She was nice but legit was on the phone the majority of the time. She looked at people who came in for take out orders and nodded to them but that was it.
Food:
Chicken shish kebob- good bit a little drier than what we are use to
Chili paneer- delicious. We asked for mild but this was still spicy and slightly over cooked but the flavors were spot on.
Chicken tikka masala - on point! One of the best one had in a long time. Wish there was a bit more chicken in it though. The chicken was cooked perfectly.
Shahi Paneer- also delicious! The flavors were so perfect and also wished there was a bit more paneer.
Naan- standard. This could have been fresher.
We also paid in cash because we saw there was a 10 percent discount. When we got our change we saw that it wasn't taken off. We just moved it from what would have been tip instead of interrupting her next phone call
The lady was distracted but nice so if you can ignore that, this was some seriously good Indian food!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sep 24, 2017
"Good option in buffet..."
I went there for the buffet so this is a review for that. I did not try ala carte yet. A buffet is $15 on Friday, nearby restaurants charge $10 so compared to that, expensive. Courteous staff, good ambience... mirror on the whole wall makes u feel like this is a big restaurant.
There was 4 option in Nonveg starters (i like malai kabab and chapali kabab) and as a usual poor option for veg fellas.
2-3 option in both veg and nonveg entree. Mango juice (too much sugar) along with gulab jamun very good) and gajar ka halwa (just ok). I liked the food but $15 is a bit more for the buffet.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 13, 2020
4 stars for the food. For a buffet in the middle of Pennsylvania I didn't expect the food to be spicy but it had a pleasant heat to it.
Experience wise it is lacking. I stood around for a few minutes waiting for any employee to come out for seating and then there are employees walking around with headphones in both ears totally unresponsive to requests. That was a new low for me eating out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kim B.Downingtown, PA5106218Jan 7, 2020
I've been eating here for about 5 years so I guess that says something as I keep coming back. Every time I'm heading up 202 towards KOP and craving a good Indian buffet lunch this is my go-to spot. Nothing fancy inside but the food is good. Love the chicken tikka, tikka masala, matter paneer and sometimes even beghan batar eggplant which I can never find on any other lunch buffet menu. I've had bad Indian food before and this isn't it.
I really like Ruchulu in Exton for lunch buffet and Bangles in Downingtown for dinner if that helps you judge my review. I've seen some comments that the woman at the front door is always on her phone. Well, she is LOL. I don't really care though I'm not there for a fine dining lunch, I'm actually there to eat my buffet lunch in peace and go back to work. Mission accomplished Will I be back? You bet. Thanks! Dropped by here for a late dinner, wax very delighted by the authentic Indian food. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, and Garlic Naan. The food was served in metal containers and felt quite authentic. It was also very easy to share since everyone had there own plate that they could put rice and different curries on. The Naan was amazing, fluffy and flavorful and we could not eat it fast enough. As someone that enjoys spice, we ordered our dishes at the hot level. Unfortunately, I overestimated my own spice tolerance as the dishes were VERY spicy, but ended up just ordering a Mango Lassi to wash it down. Overall, the food was very good and the portions were quite generous. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to drop by!

I went back to the immediate neighbourhood three times due to "unavoidable" circumstances and believe it or not, I did go back to this restaurant - mostly on the weekdays and the difference in service was like night and day!! It turns out, the first day I went there, it was the owner's nephew acting as server - he comes in only on Sundays. So, the moral is, DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT ON SUNDAYS

Hi,
Just wanted to warn you lovely folks out there about the service at this restaurant - well, briefly, it SUCKS!!!!
First, I just wanted some lamb samosas, so I asked the guy at the front desk/waiter if they had this, when he said, yes, I asked to be seated - he took for ever to seat me, and when I finally asked him why, he brings the samosas as take out!!
Second, I finally did get seated and also ordered the "coconut soup" - PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM - it is just some shredded coconut with some watery coconut milk, kind of bland and slightly sweet tasting.
Third, the waiter was sooo rude - I just asked for extra mint chutney and the waiter said "What ??" very rudely and angrily, although because I did insist, he did bring it out to me eventually.
Fourth, I did not really relish the coconut soup, so put some mint chutney in it, to spice it up a bit and take it home for later, and of course, when I asked for a bowl/container for this, his reaction was "what?" - ok I got the container, and tipped him pretty good despite his rudeness.
Lastly, as I was paying up, I realised I had to do some more errands and rushed out, forgetting to take my container of soup with me. I was only gone round the corner...and you bet, when I came back to get it, the waiter says - "Oh I trashed it, thinking you did not want it !!" I reminded him that if I really did not want it, why would I ask for a container??? -
ANYWAY, bottom line is, the SERVICE HERE SUCKS, but the food is good. So, if you are ok with extremely rude service but good food, go for it....
-Me, I'm not sure I'll come back here - I'll look for the sister concern in Wayne - hopefully their servers are better. - Mark N.Pensacola, FL98196Aug 2, 2017
This may possibly be the very best Tikka Masala on the face of the entire earth. Not a light statement, to be sure. This sauce is exquisite. The Onion Kulcha is the real deal too. This place just set the bar on both of those dishes.
If you are a fan of this cuisine, you must stop here. I can't think of anything else relevant. Atmosphere, service, facilities are on point.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eleanor P.Phoenixville, PA16021Dec 14, 2018
My husband and I made the unfortunate decision to eat dinner at this establishment a few days ago. We should have realized it was a bad choice when we were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived.
You know when you go to an Indian restaurant and they give you three little dishes of condiments with a basket of a lentil cracker sort of thing? The onion one was very pungent and nasty. The brown one tasted like plain watered down molasses. The green one was okay.
I ordered the Shrimp Shahi Korma for $21.95 The description says:
Shrimp cooked in a mild creamy sauce with nuts and raisins, garnished with almonds. First of all there were no nuts or raisins. There was also absolutely no flavor. Here is a link to a recipe for this dish: https://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/shrimp-korma-126599 I detected none of the flavors in that recipe. There was no garlic, no chili, no cardamom, cinnamon or ginger. I didn't even taste coconut milk. All I really tasted was maybe yoghurt and tomato.
My husband ordered the Lamb Curry for $16.95. The description:
Selected cubes of lamb cooked with spices and herbs in a homemade sauce. I detected little flavor and minimal curry flavor. It was ugly as well as awful.
I'm trying to figure out how to describe these dishes. Did you ever visit someone in a hospital while they were eating dinner? Maybe they had lasagna but it looked more like something from an alien planet whose creatures had no sense of smell or taste? That was what this food was like - bland hospital food. There was no garnish or special touches to the dishes.
My husband got ill on the way home and barely made it to a bathroom. I couldn't say for sure if it was from our meal or not but it did make us think there was SOMETHING lurking at this place. First of all he was given a dirty spoon for the tea he ordered. When we called the waitress over and told her the spoon was dirty she literally laughed and then gave him a spoon off a neighboring table. She made no apology.
While he was drinking his tea my husband noticed a brown streak down his very chipped mug. Upon further examination he saw that there was a 2" crack down the mug that was allowing his chai to leak out. Perhaps the crack was loaded with bacteria? Who knows.
Although my shrimp were bland and tasteless they were nice big shrimp. I will give them that.
To accompany our dinner we ordered Paneer Kulcha which was described as being leavened bread stuffed with curd cheese, fresh herbs and spices $4.95 My interpretation of 'stuffed' differs greatly from theirs.
Apparently to them it meant sparingly sprinkled with cheese. I detected no herbs and again, no flavor. I literally salted my bread to give it some flavor.
I love Indian food. I so wanted to find SOMETHING good about this place so I ordered dessert to go. Guess what? It was wonderful. I ordered Rasmalai which is homemade cottage cheese patties in a sweetened milk, flavored with rose water $5.95 The last time I had rasmalai we were living in Virginia where we regularly went to a local Pakistani restaurant who also served Rasmalai. I don't know if they make it there or not but I will go back to order Rasmalai to go. This is the first place I have found it since we moved back from Virginia in 2012 (and I look everywhere for it).
My suggestion: Go to Aman's Indian Bistro in Phoenixville for dinner and then go to Taste of India for some Rasmalai. Aman's desserts have gone downhill since they changed ownership but their main courses, while not as good as they used to be, are one hundred times better than Taste(less) of India.
I might also order the Kheer (rice pudding) and Gajar Ka Halwa - a sweet carrot dessert to go. They taste heavenly together.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Saurav S.Philadelphia, PA2665122Nov 28, 2018Updated review
The catering from this restaurant has been dismal to say the least. We order at least once a year from them. The food quality has some ups and downs (can be ignored) but the delivery is just bad. They are always late in their food delivery and last time (Nov 2018) they were late by an hour and 15 mins. We had to keep the folks waiting for food. All we got was stupid excuses that there was traffic, I was like you really expect me to believe that in the time of google maps which gives u live traffic info.
Another time they catered for us and the food quality was bad and they did not even care about people finishing dinner and started wrapping up, leaving more than 20 people without dinner.
I would not recommend them.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 4, 2017Previous reviewI have had food here several times but the food quality has deteriorated adversly, specifically the lunch buffet. The biryani rice was hard, chicken tikka masala and paneer tikka masala had the same gravy with some odd coconut flavor. Goat curry was bland and meat was not chewable or in any way tasty. Naan were dry and cold. Only good things were Tandoori Chicken and gajar ka halwa (carrot pudding). Gave this place a chance number of times but I guess it has lost its charm.

Food is ok, but service and atmosphere are nothing to write home about. On a Saturday night there were only 3 table active in the time we were there and not all at once. They turned the AC off while were still eating. And the owner/mom/hostess/waitress started a 45 minute conversation on the phone with someone in the middle of the dinning room.
Again food ok. Just not overcoming the other factors.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
