Seems like the only Indian food place in Syracuse, Taste of India feels like a hole in the wall place on westcott street but definitely holds its own. The food was really delicious. We got the Thali vegetarian plate, tikka masala and garlic naan. The thali dish was an especially good deal where you get to try three different dishes plus desert. Don't plan lunch for the next because you'll likely take half of it home like we did. If coming in a group of 3 or 4 consider sharing because 3 people could definitely split 2 dishes.
If you like Indian food then taste of India is worth checking out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Xagnik M.Syracuse, NY7822Dec 1, 2016
Do not order chicken Biriyani from here.
We ordered chicken Biriyani, and sad to say, it did not taste like chicken Biriyani at all. There are better options to get chicken Biriyani : mughal Indian at Marshall. There's pepper and almond in Biriyani, which does not taste good at all.
So refrain from ordering.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley D.Baldwinsville, NY54312Dec 16, 2017
Their food is a bit on the watery side...like very watery, and there's definitely not enough seasoning in their rice. This place could definitely use some improvements with their food. I won't be ordering from them again.

I ordered from them again on accident a few weeks ago and I was deeply disappointed, if you want good Indian food I highly recommend sahota palace in Liverpool.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 18, 2016
They honestly have great Indian food. I feel so lucky to live within walking distance to such a fine establishment! They are my favorite restaurant in the Westcott neighborhood! Incredible tikka masala and cheese nan is a winner! I've had other meals but that's my go-to and it doesn't fail me!

Good prices seem to attract a college crowd, as does the 32 ounce Taj beer for $6.00. I ordered the fish korma, but was given the paneer korma, which I decided to keep. The paneer was unusually firm. Plenty of rice to go round. The naan was good. Overall mediocre meal.

Flavorful food, quick and friendly service, and decent prices!
I came in with a large party and we were seated right away. The waiter was very friendly and patient with us, and didn't mind explaining nearly everything on the menu. I was extremely happy with a kebab, garlic naan, and some samplings of my friends' curries. All the ingredients appeared to be fresh, and the spices were on point. I'll definitely be back again the next time I'm in town!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lisa G.Princeton, NJ12297447Jan 21, 2018
This review is long overdue! We got take out, but I must say, the interior of the restaurant is comfortable, well decorated and very cozy and warm (especially appreciated on a winter's evening). The gentleman at the counter when we arrived to order was more than pleasant and even served us glasses of water while we waited for our food! My son knew him from patronizing the restaurant pretty often in the past and he made us extremely welcome and was very patient in describing some of the dishes I was unfamiliar with. I got the saag paneer - delicious and seasoned perfectly! We also got the garlic naan, which we loved. My son has had lots of different menu items and he keeps coming back, so that tells you how much he likes them! 'Til the next time....

Bad service, booths not cleaned while people are waiting to be seated, rude waiter used profanity AT me, when I asked when they would take my order AFTER waiting 15 minutes with ZERO attention.
Busy is one thing, but rudeness is unacceptable. I was politely waiting patiently for a long time with no service and when I spoke up the jerk was rude beyond belief. Bad bad bad service and poor manners. I want to give ZERO stars.
I returned to ask for a manager and he was rude again, in front of everyone in the restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - India W.Manhattan, NY6877Feb 10, 2018
I had the absolute worst experience here. I ordered an Aloo chaat and it came an hour late and was actually chicken and chopped up pieces of cucumber in a sour dressing soup. I called and told them that I was a vegetarian and was baffled at the fact that they sent me this horrible dish. They told me it was a mistake and they would send me a proper aloo chaat. 30 minutes later I get the SAME aloo chat without the chicken and am still horrified. Took 2 bites and threw it out. This place is supposed to be authentic Indiana food and they had no idea what the dish was that I ordered, and they messed it up twice. I will never be ordering from this establishment again.

Great hidden family owned place in Westcott. Prices are super reasonable and portions are filling. Helpful staff will answer any of your food questions, and know the ingredients of everything and how it's made. Being family owned certainly pays off in that regard. David, the owners son is super funny and helpful. Make sure to get a recommendation from him!
