We love the food and the salsa bar but the only complaint as of late is the chirping smoke alarm. It's beeping every so often like it needs batteries. The worst thing is that ours been like this for over 2 months!!!!! I hope they can address it soon. It's not a good ambience for customers dining in with the on and off again beeping.

Oh no 0Aug 6, 2022Previous reviewI called today around 7:50pm to order take out for pick up. The person who answered the phone was very unprofessional and has a rude tone. I asked to place a pick up order and her only response was to tell me with a lot of attitude that I need to pay on the phone for pick up orders. I told her that was fine and then she put me on hold for over 6 minutes. I finally hung up and called back. Their phone system then kept ringing as busy for the next five minutes until I finally got through. Then I said I needed to place a pick up order and they put me on hold so fast as I was trying to explain I just called and got left on hold for a long time. I was on hold again for more than 6 minutes. Again trying to call back it was busy for the next 10 minutes. They lost our business today. I hope the owners know the person answering the phone today needed more training, professionalism, and common sense. I wanted to call and speak to a manager but didn't want to be put on hold again
Mike M.Clovis, CA241515Dec 11, 2023This was my first time here. Staff was helpful at the counter. Food came out hot of the kitchen which I always prefer. Wait time was minimal. Food was delicious and plentiful. I had the burrito bowl with fish and would definitely get it again. Place was clean and the Mexican music was lively. Sentimental by Joan Sebastian was on.
BONUS: the Salsa Bar was loaded with a terrific selection of fresh deliciousness!

Eric P.Manteca, CA1116896Nov 26, 2023Updated reviewBeen coming here for years and since it's not too far from where I stay. Love the food and salsa. Breakfast burritos are delicious as well as the tacos and menudo. When I can afford catering I buy for my parties as well.

Dec 4, 2020Previous reviewI've been coming here numerous times now and I actually am starting to like there Mexican food here. It's hard especially since there are so many Mexican food restaurants and I've had my food catered from here for parties. Price is a little high for certain items but I'm ok with the prices as long as the food is of good quality.
Aug 27, 2019Previous reviewI've been here more than a few times, but as of yesterday I went and ordered 10 tacos carne asada with everything and they very flavorless. Not sure what was wrong. The meat had no flavor and neither did the salsa. All for $2.50 a taco with no flavor. No thanks!

B B.Manteca, CA041Nov 25, 2023This place use to be great but since the change in ownership the food has taken a hard left. Literally the worst in town. You serves crunchy uncooked beans in a burrito. I gave it another shot just the other day and got a breakfast that was 80% beans and hardly any eggs. Saving money on serving less quality food is a bad look... great decision guys!!! I would give less stars if possible, do yourself a favor and go to any other place. Heck I bet the Subway next door makes better Mexican Food.

They are definitely not good with food presentation because the food looked disgusting. The taste was nothing to brag about. I took a couple bites and stop eating. My eggs were over cooked. So over cooked, I think I would've got better eggs if I would've asked for a scramble.
Today is one of them times I wished I would have past on this place.

They have outdoor tent seating so that was nice. Their menu is on a screen. Large menu but one issue, the screen changes too fast. You can't see what all they have to offer because of this.
Another issue was the girl at the register was making call in priorities when she had 8 people in the lobby. She was in the phone when we walked in. No biggie. The issue came when she was done with the phone order and we wanted to place our order, the phone rang again. Instead of taking our order, she took the phone order delaying us another good 5-8 minutes.
Moving on. I selected the asada taco and enchilada combo plate. The food came out fast. One issue though, my taco had onions and cilantro when I only ordered it with salsa. No worries, they quickly fixed the issue and it was time to eat.
The food was pretty good. Typical Mexican food but good. I would come back to try other items on their menu. I want their michelada and seafood. Looked good on the screen.
We will find out soon.
Here is an updated review 09/01/2020. Their chorizo breakfast was nothing and I mean nothing to brag about. They basically skimp on this burrito. Look at the excess tortilla they folded over so that they didn't have to fill the burrito. Thank god they didn't fill it with good food because let me be frank, the chorizo burrito was less than appetizing. This burrito lacked flavor. I did not taste much of anything inside this burrito.

I went to go out with my kids there today and horrible costumer service. They served us all at different times so we all had to eAt in a bad way. For was bad and I will never g9 back to Pay almost a 100 dollar and it wasn't even worth It

It's understandable that businesses get busy and need to occasionally place customers on hold, though I was on hold for 10+ minutes. I started to think they had forgotten they placed someone on hold, so I hung up and tried calling back. After unsuccessfully reaching the restaurant, I decided to drive there and order via over the counter.
There was no one in line when I walked in, and I noticed the phone was still sitting on the counter off its hook. As I began to order, the lady at the front proceeded to finally hang up the phone.
The service today was not the best, nor was it what a regular would be used to. Offering some grace as we all have "off" days. The food is delicious, and never disappoints.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
393691384Jun 23, 2022Excellent food! It's consistently prepares, l flavorful and reliable. The menu's excellence is beyond tacos and burritos, try the seafood, entree plates and molcajetes! I love, love the salsa bar and can't say enough about the kind personnel. Thank you Taqueria La Estrella!
