Omigosh. Delicious. Amazing. Tasty. All of the above. Some of the ways I can describe Takote. Lets dig in, shall we?
I stopped in for dinner one night because I run by it every day on my daily run, looked it up on Yelp and thought, "yeah, I need to check it out." Seems to be a family run business, which always are great to support. Young girl was my waitress, who was very friendly. I was the only person in the restaurant which hopefully wan't a bad thing (it wasn't).
I ordered chips and guac. The guacamole probably was the best, homemade guac I've ever had in my life. It was magical, that's the only way I can describe it.
I talked to the waitress about what to get because everything on the menu sounded amazing. Ended up with the alambre which I got with chicken. It was a simple Mexican dish with shredded chicken, green peppers, onions, and mounds of melted cheese on top. It was accompanied by three or so tortillas. I feel like it was a 5 pound plate of food. While it was simple in flavor, it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was soft and juicy and the cheese, while probably not the healthiest thing in the world, was perfect on top of the veggies and chicken. I would make tacos with the combo along with the tortillas. There was no way I could finish this entire thing so lucky for me I got to take some home.
The service was amazing, yeah, it probably should have been since I was the only one there, but I absolutely loved it here. Everything was amazing. This is a place I really want to explore their menu. I have to see what else they have here because everything I tried that day was more than amazing. A+ for me for sure. Go here. Go here now. If you love it, thank me, and if you don't, what's wrong with you!?Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jun 8, 2016
Found this place through the Yelp app and thought I'd try their tacos.
Located at a strip mall, the place is clean and nicely decorated. It has an array of interesting pieces of typical art and memorabilia, ranging from luchador masks to carved wood. They are displayed in really nice built in glass cases. Very cool.
Food wise, I had a chicken and a chorizo taco, and a chicken tostada. The chorizo taco was delicious, both the chicken taco and tostada were just OK. I really didn't care for the chicken. It was just broiled and unseasoned.
Service was ok. I came during lunchtime but it was very slow. I'd definitely come back for another try, I just won't get chicken tacosHelpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2017
I went on a Tuesday for dinner. There was only one other table dining while I was there. A young lady took my order and a man was cooking in an open kitchen. They do not serve complimentary chips and salsa. Everything is a la carte. I ordered two tacos...on steak with cheese and one pork. Both were served on corn tortillas. The side of refried beans $3 was not good. It tasted like canned beans. The tacos were delicious. I had a red and green salsa. Both salsas tasted fresh. I requested chips and they brought me a tiny bowl with 5 chips! They did not charge me for the five chips. The decor is colorful and the restaurant is very clean. Overall, it was an okay experience. I think there are better options available in the area.

* Setting was great (authentic looking and looks new)
* Prices reasonable? YES
* Nice service? YES
* Yummm? YES
* Place was quiet? YES
* Would I go back? YES
* Restrooms clean? N/A
* Tips? The cheese tacos are super cheesy and cheese is thick. They are good tacos, but i wont be getting the cheese ones again.
This place was really good. My gf and I tried their tacos and guacamole. They were delicious. The quac was made on the spot as you heard him grinding the avocados away after placing the order. I suggest saving some for your tacos when they come out so you have some extra toppings for your tacos.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amy J.Lake Worth, FL45147Dec 18, 2016
I've been told by several people that this restaurant serves the best Mexican food outside of Mexico and I finally made it there go find out.
The restaurant is in the Carolina springs shopping center. We went it and picked a table- we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. My eyes were on overload with the built in wall cubbies filled with art! It was a great set up.
We ordered guacamole to start and it was made to order. The flavor was bright and fresh. The texture is a little more soupy than most people are use to but it was exactly how I saw it made in Mexico.
For entrees we shared a plate of tacos and the chicken mole. The mole is made fresh each day and only available when the don't sell out.
The chicken mole was shredded chicken smothered with dark brown sauce and rice on the side. The sauce was amazing- loaded with chocolate, cinnamon and spice (not heat). It's served with rice, beans and tortillas.
The tacos were all served very traditional with just onion and cilantro on top. The cactus taco is amazing! A must try!
The staff was friendly and the restaurant is spotless! I really hope they make it since we were the only customers inHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chris S.North Lauderdale, FL1662491303Nov 27, 2016
I love this place. The decor is really cool, and the tortilla machine is fun to watch too. It's hidden away in a strip mall next to a Mexican/Latin mega-market but it's not THAT hard to find - and well worth your time!
We originally went for the tacos, and they are out of this world. The chorizo tacos emerged as our clear favorites, but we also loved the tacos al pastor, and the asada, and we haven't tried the chicken or the cactus paddles yet... because we DID try the tortas... and now, every time we go there we have a very tough decision to make... because the Tortas (specifically the Takote torta for me) are pretty amazing. Pork al pastor on fresh-made bread layered with cheese melted until delicious. It's definitely a must-have!
They're even open for breakfast on the weekends...We're working our way through the menu, I'm sure there's lots (LOTS) more to love!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason P.Coral Springs, FL77684015542Sep 3, 2018

I know this place is hidden, I mean I would have never found it or even stumbled upon it if it wasn't for Yelp. The best street tacos that I have ever had in Florida for sure. This place is authentic and amazing service from them as well. The guacamole melts in your mouth and the tacos are incredibly flavorful and delicious! We tried each one of the tacos with cheese, and I don't even think I have a favorite. If you love REAL tacos, this is the place for you!

We enjoyed our late lunch here ...After reading the reviews we wanted to try out a few tacos so we got the 5 taco combo to try things out. We had 2 of the of the Bistec one of the Chorizo and two of the Pastor.
I would say the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the Bistec tacos were kinda bland and dry. But I will retyrn I really enjoyed the Pastor tacos this place is very clean with friendly service everything was good to order so it took a little extra time but we didn't mind it knowing we were going to get things hot and fresh off the grill.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Seema F.Raleigh, NC2723017Oct 2, 2017
Is this seriously what Floridians think is acceptable Mexican food? This was the most disgusting food any of us have ever had.
When we showed up on a Thursday night it was completely empty. Not a great sign but we sat down anyway. Almost all their menu was chicken with no substitutions, which leads me to believe everything is frozen or pre-made in some other way. They couldn't even swap the meat on a tostada with something better than boiled chicken...
I ordered a green enchilada, which only came with chicken. It seemed ok, until I sawed into the tough tortilla to see boiled, white meat that looked like cat food (specifically Weruva Paw Lickin Chicken). The green sauce had an unsettling tang to it that made me think it had gone bad. It seemed like frozen, microwaved food with a little bit of cheese on top.
My husband wanted a nopales taco and it was the main reason we were there but they were out of it at 7pm. Instead, he ordered 3 tacos: pastor, carne asada, and chorizo. None of the meat had been browned at all and was just a chewy, boiled mess. The 'pastor' tasted completely rancid. He asked for both green and red salsa, and even though they claimed it was made "fresh" today, both came in strange to-go plastic containers with lids and both had so much pectin that they were basically jam. That does not happen to fresh salsa.
My husband's grandma specifically wanted something with rice, and the only thing we saw was chicken mole. We asked the waitress about it, and she assured us it was not too sweet or chocolatey. When it arrived, there was no rice at all because they were OUT OF IT. Let me repeat, a Mexican restaurant was out of rice. They didn't bother to mention that when we ordered, and instead, brought out an extra bowl of bland, unseasoned refried beans (how do you screw up refried beans and how are more beans a rice replacement?). The mole itself was not as described either; it was VERY chocolately with no other flavor and overall just terrible.
We each had one bite of our meal and did not want anymore. Even grandma, who is not picky and will eat almost anything, said it was too gross for her to continue. (She even declared that "These people don't know what they are doing!") The waitress originally said they would take off the mole. But after we all tried our meals and realized it was inedible, we said we aren't paying for any of this. They then said we needed to pay for all 3 and that they would only remove the cost of rice. What?! You serve me rancid, old food and expect me to eat it? They made no effort to explain or rectify the situation. We had to just walk out and go find a restaurant that actually cooks and flavors their food properly.
Save yourself the trouble and eat at the cafeteria inside Supermercado Bodegon instead. It may not be Mexican, but the food is actually good, cheap, seasoned, and cooked properly.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
