I went here to get a passport for my child. I arrived at 11 a.m. on a Thursday and there was absolutely no line. No appointment is necessary, unlike at many other passport acceptance facilities (which often had a wait of two or more weeks before there was an available appointment). The lady at the desk was very helpful and made photocopies of our driver's licenses for us. They do not offer photographs on site so you have to bring your own, as well as your own copy of your passport application. Parking around the community center was very full but we found a spot on the street. If you need to apply for a passport in person (as when applying for a child under 16), I recommend going to the Takoma Park Community Center.

Great experience at the walk-in passport office -- thanks Takoma Park for providing superior passport services! At the time of this review the office was open Monday through Thursday, 9am to 1pm. No appointments, walk-in only.
Don't forget your checkbook, two forms of ID, and to read the instructions before you arrive: http://www.takomaparkmd.gov/services/passportsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole O.Washington, DC710May 17, 2017
I wish I had the same experience as the other 2 reviewers. The passport wait was ridiculous. There is only 1 person and she seemed to take forever. Do not go here unless you have HOURS to spend waiting here!!! When I came in there were a few people ahead of me. 2 hours later and only 2 people have been seen! If I wasn't so desperate to get my passport I would have gone somewhere else.
