Tacos La Mezcla

I have never written a review like this (especially as an Elite) because I understand how important it is for small businesses to maintain good reviews. However, I could not ignore my experience with this place.

I want to first say that their food IS really good. They have a lot of choices on their menu and it was all super tasty. For the taste of their food alone they deserve 5 stars.

However, the unprofessionalism from this company is off the charts. Their owner is very nice (when you can actually get him in the phone) but nice doesn't get you service. I hired them for a private holiday party at my house and confirmed and put a deposit down a month before the event. For a week leading up to the event I called and texted multiple times to confirm my guest count and their services without any response.

I was able to get a hold of Francisco on the phone the evening before and he said he would call me right back but never did. The day of the event, I called and texted again to confirm- no response. 2 hours before the event I called in Aladdin's Mediterranean Food (SO good) as my back up and luckily they were able to accommodate my large pick up order.

Tacos La Mezcal never showed up to my event, they didn't call or text. I asked Francisco to reimburse me for my deposit and he did so 3 days later (without any reply). It's my belief that they double booked for a party they were probably getting more money for and didn't have the professionalism to admit a mistake. I wouldn't have been happy, but I could have at least made arrangements for other catering.

I host between 25-30 events at my location a year and they just lost a lot of returning business. I would NOT recommend hiring Tacos La Mezcla for any private parties if you're looking for a reliable caterer.

This taco truck is delicious. I was hanging out at Thorn St Brewery and decided to give the food a whirl. I had a beef tostada and the barbacoa taco. Both were delicious. I will definitely eat here again. Owner was nice too! You can just tell when people take pride in what they do.

Tacos La Mezcla is my favorite taco joint hands down in San Diego. The owner, Francisco is the friendliest guy you'll ever meet and makes you feel welcomed, appreciated & loved! He brings a strong sense of community to the neighborhood.

Let's not forget about his food... IT'S UNREAL! Carnitas? AMAZING! Shrimp taco? PHENOMENAL!!! Queso barrio? DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED!!!! Chicken rolled tacos? CHEF FREAKING KISS.

If you haven't been, you have no clue what you're missing. If you have been, then you're probably a regular because his food is just too good to live without.

The watermelon agua fresca is perfect! Not too sweet and super refreshing!

The Kiddo had the carnitas taco and said "mom! You have to give them 5 stars!" Oh kid, you know I'm on it!

The best tacos I've had in North Park! Great company, delicious tacos, fantastic prices. Grab a drink and settle down for filling tacos. Great post workout meal if you are finishing up at the gym next door too ;)

Bombest tacos in San Diego!! Being Mexican myself, I'm picky with my Tacos lol, and these do not disappoint!! They're extremely generous with their portions, and the ingredients are so fresh and flavorful.

I had the grilled shrimp and grilled fish tacos with spicy salsa. I devoured them within minutes ha!
The team is so welcoming, it feels like family from the minute you step up to order. Fransisco was generous enough to give me a breakfast taco on the house to try out, and that too was giant and packed with flavor!! Reminded me of home in Baja. They are incredibly kind, friendly and the food is amazing! What else could you ask for in a dining out experience?

I'll def keep coming back with friends and recommend you do too!

This review is strictly for their taco truck catering. They completely no call/no showed for a booked catering that we paid a down payment for.

Extremely unprofessional when all it would have taken was a phone call to notify us in advance if they were not able to make it.

It took about a week to get our deposit back after many attempts to contact. No apology or acknowledgment of the mistake they made.

I would give them zero stars if I could.

Found this truck parked in South Park on a Saturday, we've heard about it so we had to give it a try. SO glad we did. The potato tacos are to die for, and even though I don't normally eat dairy we sprung for the nachos, so glad we did. With the carnitas, they were amazing & so worth it. We've been spending our weekends tracking the truck down again & again because we can't get enough.

Was introduced to this amazing place on their 4th anniversary at South Park Brewery. They also make weekly stops at the bf's work.

We tried the potato tacos, carne asada, Korean asada, shrimp, and carnitas tacos.

The potato tacos come with 4 tacos smothered with veggies and guac. They are really tasty, especially if you eat them fresh.

While the carne asada and shrimp tacos were pretty darn good, the real stars of the truck are the carnitas and Korean asada tacos.

They have a nice crisp on the carnitas that is so delicious! The Korean asada tacos have amazing flavor. AMAZING!

This place reminded me of why I love tacos!

I had 2 brisket tacos they were amazing i felt they were just a little bit salty but just a bit. Maybe it's just me that I don't eat any more salt, but highly recommended it has a unique flavor I think its just crazy that you can put that much flavor in one taco.
