I really do like TC's cabana bowls. Now that they have beyond meat products, they are even better. Their food isn't super authentic, but it's good for a late night meal.
This location has a margarita bar. To me, I don't think they need it. You could achieve the same order with the cashier. They do have plenty of choices to choose from. I had the cucumber margarita and it was delicious.
The day we were there, water was leaking in the dining room. We alerted the staff, but they looked at us and went on with their duties.
They currently don't have the salsa bar, but they will give you some salsa if you ask for it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I love Taco Cabana so much. I wish it existed on the east coast.
This isn't the best Mexican food ever, but it's the best Mexican fast food ever.
I am forever grateful to their drive-thru.
Customer service is fine.
I genuinely like the cheese enchiladas and bean and cheese tacos. I also like the chorizo and egg tacos and the beef fajitas.
Place is usually clean.
Thank you for existing, Taco Cabana.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Vicente M.Downtown, San Antonio, TX017Jul 4, 2023
I don't understand the reviews. This place is excellent and great for late night great TexMex. the Extreme Nachos feed 3 easily and good, fresh meat. it's far better than waiting in line for 4 over priced and over rated. the food here is good and tastes close-to authentic. workers were very nice. only critiqhe is the menu has too many items on it.

Ordered on Ubereats.
Bean and Cheese combo, that was missing the soda pop drink and salsa. Also had no cheese, Just beans in the tortillas ....
Shrimp Quesadilla, was soggy and was missing the guacamole and sour cream (we paid extra for) and there was a piece missing.... A PIECE MISSING!!!!!!
Chicken Flautas, they were buy one get one free with your choice of sour cream, guacamole, or liquid Queso. We picked one sour cream and one guacamole but we're given three 4oz containers of liquid Queso. Plus the flautas were all broken up.
1 gallon of sweet tea, I guess they didn't have a gallon jug because we were given four 32oz cups of tea instead. Which is fine I guess, just thought it was worth noting....
Also we paid extra for the brown, red, and ranch salsas and didn't receive them.
You could say that it's carelessness on the part of the employees but after reading the others yelp post, I have determined that management is solely to blame. Effective training and respect in the kitchen is key to a successful restaurant. If the people who ran this Taco Cabana had more pride in their ethic and product it could be on par with the other successful Taco Cabanas in San Antonio but unfortunately it is not.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aaron V.San Antonio, TX489221Oct 16, 2021
I've eaten at Taco Cabana before and I loved it. However, this location did not live up to expectations. Granted, my previous experiences were all dine in and I used the drive through at this Taco Cabana, but the differences in quality, value, and cleanliness were all put on the spot.
My wife and I ordered two taco plates, one with steak fajita and one with chicken. The taco plates were a bit pricey, but we figured the food quality would make it worth it. It did not. While the chicken was decently seasoned, the steak fajita meat was extremely dry and tough and the flour tortillas were cold and hard. It felt like these had been sitting out for a while. The portion sizes felt a lot smaller than what you would get if you dined in, and my wife and I had to eat something else after we finished our meals.
The saving grace to this experience was the customer service. I called back and let them know about the food, and the manager was kind enough to compensate our next meal at this location, if we decided to come back. We ended up giving our meal comp to a friend, who had a similar experience as well. After that, we knew we wouldn't come back to this location anytime soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Salunchador O.San Antonio, TX13782170Aug 29, 2018
It's Taco Cabana guys! Come one everyone's got an opinion so her le goes mine!
Service: They do lack a little attentiveness when it comes to working through their orders. Only ordered a Cabana bowl so it shouldn't take upwards of 15 mins with less that half of their restaurant full. Also their Salsa bar was looking a little sad and very messy. So yeah that's that.
Quality/Taste: It wasn't too bad to be honest. The grilled chicken was good for what it's worth, the other ingredients tasted fresh enough with the exception of their bowl. It was a little stale tasting and chewy. So in the end I just doused it with a bunch of salsas to make it more palatable.
Price: It's $5 so I don't have that much to hate on you know? If you do happen to go the bowl route their other options will run you a little more money so keep that in mind!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 2, 2017
Some things here haven't changed much in 35 years. The value has declined, the restroom is still a little uninviting, tortillas, I agree, are shrinking. The atmosphere has gone from "taco stand with a patio" to a pretentious display of decor, and a hint of table service.
I can clearly see that my memories of the 1980s and 1990s, are not revisited here. A visit to an orange and white Texas burger chain will have to do.
Some reviews are criticizing the service, or friendliness of the staff. The register and table hop are about the only point of contact with people. I'm assuming that the criticism is directed at the register and ordering, where I often experience an indifference to my being there.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robby L.San Antonio, TX142189953Mar 23, 2021
I ordered the bean and cheese nachos (with melted cheese) and it was a generous serving served hot and fresh. The service was excellent and quick. Perfect stop for a quick lunch. The patio is open, however the dine in area is still closed.

Food was okay, drive thru was super slow. When I asked for some salsa after she gave me my food and drink she seem irritated. Also I am all for allowing people to Express themselves, but the drive tru lady had on YELLOW CAT EYE CONTACTS. Little to say I was caught off guard and freaked out. That I dont think is appropriate for a work environment.
