Sylvan Learning of NW San Antonio

Friendly staff, my daughter enjoys coming. Highly recommend if your child I struggling in school or simply wants to get ahead.

Sylvan Learning on Bandera Road with its current owner is a money hungry franchise owner who does not care about the student. He allows students to attend without wearing a mask and for this reason my student did not return after they reopened during the pandemic. The corporate office does not have standards about how a franchise is run. I was told the VP, Susan Valverde will call me back and never did. When I visited the owner about the number of sessions we had left, he had it recorded as we had been there during the pandemic and when he was called out on this, he said he would have to get back with me - he never did. I strongly do not recommend using Sylvan. Corporate does not care how a center is being run as long as they pay their franchise fees. The owner could care less about the safety of your child or their lack of learning.

My daughter has been coming to Sylvan for about two years and we have seen a fantastic academic transformation. She has made great strides in math/reading and her increased confidence is apparent! All the teachers are wonderful and the directors and owner have gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable on multiple occasions. We highly recommend Sylvan for families whom need personalized tutoring.

It has been about a year since my first (very positive) review of the Sylvan Learning Center (NW San Antonio), and we continue to be extraordinarily happy with every aspect of our experience.

First, the teachers there are experienced, well credentialed professionals, who have created a tailored, bespoke plan for our son. We have high confidence in their testing, pedagogy, on-going measurement, and the detailed plan they have developed. We know where we started, where we are now, and where we plan to go in terms of our son's education.

Second, the learning center is clean, well lighted, and professional. The team there manages to maintain a relaxed, friendly environment, and yet it also has a "down to business" atmosphere which encourages and rewards hard work. Our son enjoys visiting the people at the center, but he also knows he is there to work.

Third, importantly, the costs are reasonable. Our family values education, but we also know that when it comes to tailored tutoring, value is a function of both quality and cost. In this case, it is our considered judgment that the Sylvan Learning Center is a great value because it is a high quality service at a reasonable price.

In sum, we highly recommend the Center, and to us, the best evidence is the final result: our son's very positive learning experience over the past year.

The starting process has been seamless! The assessment testing/structure and learning plan really help map out how they are going to support my daughter and all her needs. They work with my daughters school teachers to ensure everyone is on the same page. Sylvan takes ownership of my daughters needs.
