These guys did a great job tearing out wet insulation and pulling up wet carpet out of our basement when our washer leaked because a repair person didn't put the hose clamp back on. It was a big job involving walls, ceilings, ventilation, etc. They brought in multiple fans and blowers to get everything dried out. It took several days for everything to dry completely. I would definitely recommend their services. They were very efficient.

The couches they swore they could
clean and save would come back in the same
condition of the clothing but worse physical
evidence of fire extinguisher still on the
upholstery. They won't tell you they are
charging your insurance $450 a month to
store your belongings in a warehouse. Their
salesmen on the initial meeting tells you, you
can access your belongings and they have
boxes itemized for those reasons. We had a
few requests all which were never followed up
on or accessed. After finally giving up on the
run around we pulled our stuff from their
storage to our own at half the cost. Finally, the
bill. Textile/clothes cleaning, pack out,
storage. Item "cleansing" which I know was
never performed at a massive total of 21k.
How can someone charge thousands for
cleanings that never actually occurred. I
wouldn't recommend this company to anyone
in times of stress as they prey on the
vulnerable and intentionally lie about the
quality of their service. I can't imagine if it had
went ahead with wall cleaning with their
"magic sponge" how much this would have
cost me. They should be ashamed of
themselves and should really look at what
they are selling their company as.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Y D.Wichita, KS03Apr 23, 2022
Water Mitigation or Demolition Company? If you have anything you value, don't bank on them saving it for you.
Please note Stovers pays their customers $275 for their positive reviews. Clearly, I'm not only out my $5000 deductible, have a hit on my Insurance but am also out a "paid" review.
I had a contractor handling the leak in the middle of my move-out but new homeowners wanted Stovers. My contractor could have handled everything for less than my Insurance deductible. But with Stovers "mitigation" it's becoming a $20,000 plus fix. Stovers obnoxious bill for fans, humidifiers and drying pads for over $4000 and ripping up Lifetime Water Proof High End Luxury Vinyl Planks backed with cork has cost us. This flooring is meant to be lifted and dried. Being backed with cork resists mold and bacteria. They came in like a wrecking crew. They knew I had 3 boxes of plank to fix what was pulled so they made sure they pulled more than necessary and additional planks are unavailable. Replacement cost on the new floor is over $10,000. There wasn't more than a bucket of water on top of the floor and a little seepage. They also ripped out the carpet despite noting that there wasn't enough water to even hit the pad.
Stovers saw dollar signs when they heard "Insurance" and took me and my insurance for a ride all while insulting the abilities of my contractor who rushed out at 630am to open up the ceiling, place fans and humidifiers to mitigate the damage.
Stovers is not water mitigation but a wrecking crew.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon S.Wichita, KS06Oct 1, 2018
I have a basement apartment for my daughter, built just one year ago. I felt a "smooshiness" under one corner of the carpet in the guest room area down there. I called Stover's. They came and found extremely minor amounts of wetness in the drywall in both bedrooms along with the smooshiness in the carpet that I had found. I asked for the cause so I could see if my insurance would cover it. He did not see the cause (though he checked inside and outside) but assured me that after they saw behind the drywall and rolled up the carpet they would know. I asked for an estimate, but he said that was not his job but informed me that a medium job like mine usually cost 2500 to 3500 thousand. I asked him to get me a written estimate before he did any work as I live on a pension. He removed furniture from the rooms and promised to replace them when they were finished. He left a couple machines and said he would be back after the weekend. It was a different person who came back. I asked for the estimate but he did not have it. He cut the carpets - without my permission - and removed three feet of drywall along the floor in both bedrooms and the walk in closets. They broke every piece of trim which was an unnecessary expense for me. I believe (as does the flooring person I have since called) that the carpets were salvageable. The Stover's representative said they would come by every day to check the progress. They did not appear again for two days, so I called the office and they sent a very young man who took the machines and said someone else would come to clean up the mess. No one did. I finally called the office and they sent out a pair of men who did the best they could, but did not have the tools to attach the headboards or the center support. I asked about the estimate and they said to call the office. I did. I was told it would "probably" be $5K as the estimate said. I pointed out that I never did get an estimate and that they never did find out what caused the water damage so I would be unable to file a claim. When I got the bill, it was adjusted to $5k. I will never do business with them again. They will not give estimates (but they will lie about it). They do not do what they were hired to do without prompts. They were not cooperative or professional. They cleaned a mess and didn't let me know what caused it or how I could prevent it from happening again. I will do anything I can to make sure that my neighborhood knows all about the poor service Stover's gave me. Fortunately, we have the Nextdoor Wineteer social media for all our neighbors. I wish there were a lower rating than "1" . . . but it is as it is.

We would like to respond to some concerns that were raised in the above posting. The homeowner was correct in stating that our technician missed some areas during the cleanup of the job site. However, when he called and let us know, we scheduled to have someone out the very next day to correct it.
As far as the cost, our technician stated that an average water damage runs $2,500-$3,500, but since there was visible mold growth, a verbal quote of $5,000 was given. The $5,000 quote was later confirmed again when our office was called, while our technicians were on site performing the work two days later. When the final bill was actually over the quoted price, we adjusted it down to honor the verbal quote that had been given. The claim that the cost would be $3,500 is simply not truthful. We never received any other notice about dis-satisfaction with our services until we saw the above posting. We then made multiple attempts to discuss these concerns, but our calls were not returned. When we did finally hear from the homeowner a week later, he refused to discuss any of his concerns and simply made unkind remarks and paid his bill. We take customer satisfaction very seriously, but at this point, this is not resolvable.

Shawn was very prompt and professional! He was very considerate of our thoughts and feelings. I already recommended him to our neighbors for doing such great work! He and his team were awesome.

Stover was quick to respond and always showed up when promised. They explained the process of water remediation to us and followed the plan. I would recommend them to a friend. The cost seemed expensive, but when contacting other companies, seemed to be within the industry standard.

Service professional was good, but when it came time to pay we were in a battle with the old owner to pay for services due to their negligence. We were in constant contact with Stover's managers and even my realtor had called to let them know what was going on. Everything seemed fine, and then one day I get a receipt in the mail saying it's been paid in full. Confused I called and apparently we gave them a credit card when services were done and they charged it without telling us! Nobody even called us, we thought we were all on the same page! I don't have the money on my credit card to pay this and would have really liked to know it would be charged so I could have made other arrangements!

Stover's was very prompt with service after flooding due to sump pump failure. They were very quick in getting up extra water that we had not and left plenty of fans and industrial strength dehumidifies to finish drying out the basement. In all a job well done. Pricing was a bit higher than I had hoped for but excellent customer service.

Very easy to work with. Was quoted one price and then it came in higher...was then told if I wrote a review they would deduct the difference. However, they did everything to help us as requested

Stovers was called out at the recommendation of my insurance company. I had water in my basement and they said they would remove and replace my OLD carpet & new pad and dry out the basement with their fans for $5000 (what my insurance would cover) I spoke to them about wanting to use insurance money and apply it toward new carpet since my carpet was old and didn't really want to put the same damaged carpet back. I was willing to pay the difference to get new carpet but they said they would leave if I wanted to do that. They would only stay and do the work for the full $5000 my insurance company was going to pay. They also made me give them my credit card with a blank amount on it to cover their fans they left in the house to dry off. I was very concerned about that...but again... they said they would take all the drying fans out of the house and leave if I didn't give them my credit card authorization right then. I felt like I was at their mercy because we were coming up on a holiday weekend and I had a basement/carpet saturated with water and it was horrible the way they took advantage of the situation. They completed the work but got my OLD carpet back and they got $5000 from my insurance company plus I had to pay $1000 deductible... sweet deal for them... me & my insurance company... not so much! Oh... they also said they would give me a discount if I wrote a positive review for them on specific websites. They would check before the discount was applied as well....so, don't believe everything you read on this merchant. I might have been an isolated case but I would not use them again. The girl in the office was also very rude when I tried to talk to her or someone about this issue.
