Unique park to chill out, relax, contemplate the view, or celebrate with family in a nice picnic by the water. Fishers love to come here and enjoy the breeze to catch some fish.
Lovely.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 23, 2021
Great park for having a picnic, doing some work or fishing! If your kids don't mind not having a playground then this place would suffice but just keep that in mind.
The grounds are kept up and it's a great spot to get a view of the river. Plenty of parking too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Davidson B.Arden, NC76170799Apr 30, 2020
Stockton Park is a lovely little park. It is clean, well-maintained, provides plenty of shade with a nice view of the water, is great for fishing, has a gazebo perfect for ritual human sacrifice, and is just an overall pleasant place to be.
We came here for a picnic over the weekend because we simply had to get out of the house during this pandemic while keeping our distance from anyone else at the same time. Stockton Park is more than suitable for checking those boxes. I wish there was a little less road noise, but that's not the fault of the park. Come here when you need a nice little burst of nature.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 1 - Feb 11, 2021
Very nice and pretty park. It has an amazing view of the water. The park has picnic tables. Plenty of trees for shades and very clean. I believe you're able to fish there. There are disposable area for it.

This is a pretty cool little park (if you can find it) in the heart of Ortega. It is a quaint little hub to go fishing, have a picnic, take your kids out, shoot some photos, throw an event or just to be near the water.
It's pleasantly equipped with picnic tables, swings, shaded areas and a gazebo for anyone who wants to get out in nature. A private and peaceful place to enjoy the day quietly people watching or reading on the grass. And best of all, it won't cost you a dime.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Steven J.Jacksonville, FL204173212Feb 13, 2017
On the water with a great view. Several benches, a couple of tables, a bicycle rack, water fountain. It also is a pokemon stop and gym.
We didn't catch any fish, but I did catch 11 pokemon.
The sun was warm, the wind refreshing, the company pleasant, too bad it was with my fishing buddy and not my wife.
Secret to a happy marriage: never stop dating each other. Keep the love fresh. The view from here on the sloping grass to the river was made for a blanket and romance.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Sep 21, 2014
This is a sweet little park in Ortega, right on the river. It's kept very clean and well maintained. There are plenty of picnic tables (handicapped accessible) and water fountains. The trees are old and picturesque. The little gazebo at the river's edge is charming.
My son and daughter-in-law were married there and it was quite beautiful. When they come back to Jacksonville to visit, we always try and have a picnic here.
Downsides? No swings, etc., for children but there is plenty of room for running around with a frisbee or a ball - just watch the slope. There is no lighting at night, so you should leave at dusk.
There is ample parking, which is a nice bonus.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 25, 2018
Absolutely beautiful view in such a gorgeous neighborhood of Ortega. This park has its own parking lot and is very close to a school and church. I bet it's stunning in the spring/summer time. Just stumbled upon this beauty but I will be back to visit again. Not a large park, but dogs are allowed so I am excited to bring my french bulldog the next time I am in town!

I've been coming to this park since I was old enough to drive. Back when I was a teenager, it was basically just an open area with some paved parking. You could walk down the sloped bank and fall in the river if you weren't careful.
Today, we enjoy many amenities including benches, picnic tables, water fountains, a safe fence along the river as well as the center piece gazebo, perfect for photos.
No fault of the location or views, I left the perfect 5 stars off because of the garbage people left that I picked up to dispose of properly on the way out..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
