Since Stitch in Time doesn't carry All The Things I want, but only a lot of them, I rated it 4 stars. Customer service is good. They probably warrant 5 stars for their selection of threads in various fibers from various manufacturers. I don't tend to purchase patterns because I hunt down antique patterns online, purchase full books of patterns, or just make my own patterns.
Stitch in Time is really the only specialist needlework store in town. For just about anything else, you have to shop online/by mail order or go to the San Francisco Bay Area.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shirley I.Crookston, MN5265504May 30, 2021
Such a fun place to browse and get advice. I was fortunate on this visit to have the owner's full attention on a rainy Reno afternoon. Fiber selection turned out perfectly!
I would stitch here weekly if I lived in the area. Cozy, very knowledgeable owner, fiber selection is updated.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 17, 2021
Whenever we travel, I am always on the hunt for craft stores! I stopped in to Stitch In Time this week in Reno. It's in a small shopping center - next to the Goodwill Store. Lots of parking. VERY friendly and kind owner. The shop is small, but she packs in a ton of good stuff. I'm a cross stitcher so that's what I was looking for....She has LOTS of great patterns, all nicely organized. Lots of threads and accessories too. I bought a Prairie Schooler pattern and some thread for another project. Also a very nice selection of items for Needlepoint. I would definitely come here again on my next trip through Reno!

I was nearly out of DMC 310 so called to find out their hours. Due to Covid, they were closing at 3pm. I called at 2:45! I don't get over to the Smithridge area very often so panicked, broke laws and got there with 8 minutes to spare.
Vicky, the owner, was graciously helping a customer so Sarah gave me a hand. Neither lady minded that we were keeping them after hours. They were kind, helpful and patient.
I got 8 skeins of 310, about 50 colors to start a new project, ordered fabric and found out that they have two seamstresses that will finish my work for me. I love cross stitch but hate machine sewing so I am delighted to find out that they offer this service.
They're not all cross stitch, by the way. They have all sorts of needlework supplies for needlepoint, beading, magazines, accessories, storage and who knows what else! I love this store! What a gem!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathy T.Camarillo, CA48112Apr 26, 2021
A great shop, always very helpful. If they don't have what you need they will order it. It is my go to for needlework projects here in Reno.

I stopped in to check on the selection of linen for stitching, and I was so impressed by this shop! The woman there was very friendly and helpful and helped me find exactly what I wanted for my next project. Good amount of DMC, patterns, fabric, frames, you name it! Stores like this are hard to come by, and Reno is very lucky to have one.

Whenever I need help with my latest cross stitch project, I go here. The staff is very helpful helping me figure out what materials I need and how to use them properly. If they do not have exactly what I am looking for, they will help me go through what they do have to find one that will meet my needs.
They have many patterns to choose from, and if they do not have it in stock they order it (and will help you pick out what materials needed so you can get started on it ASAP).
One of the things I loved most was when I was first starting, they helped me get projects going and taught me some of the tricks of the trade without making me feel stupid about not knowing what I was doing.
I love this store and will be going back soon!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Loiosh T.Reno, NV570Jun 1, 2011First to Review
Lemme sum up: Very good selection of raw materials, less than average pattern selection, good customer service
As if I don't have enough to do, I decided to pick up an embroidery kit and make something nice for the house. Again, I love supporting independent shops, so I sought out Stitch in Time. While the staff was very friendly, and probably highly knowledgeable, I just couldn't find anything that interested me. Shame, really.
This is a needwork/embroidery specialty shop. That said, you can find just about any kind of floss your little heart desires. However, their pattern selection is very...well...grammy. Nothing caught my eye as decorative or tasteful in an art deco or abstract fashion. Plenty of folksy, cutesy, Biblical stuff but nothing that stepped outside of what you'd expect at a nursing home. Mehhhh....
To that end, I would recommend Stitch in Time if you need floss, fabric, hoops, or any other basic for creating your cross stitch or needlepoint project. But don't expect to find modern designs or kits here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Gert O.Louisville, CO07Apr 22, 2018
