This place is not top notch when it comes to dining in. The restroom is very nasty and out dated. The food service is good, but the waiters are not all good. We need for our soul food restaurants to come up and give us a nice environment as well as good food.

You know you're in the right spot when you find a home cooking local spot that is packed. When we came in there was a line for dine in and a line for carry out. We waited for a table, but not too long.
Everyone was friendly and the all the food we got was delicious. We had no room for dessert, but couldn't go without, so we took it to go.
The prices are higher than some other home cooking spots, but the quality made up for it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jamal C.Honolulu, HI2396315377Feb 20, 20241 check-in
Moms in the hospital, Wesley Long. We needed her to eat. Hospital food can be bland and tasteless. I searched soul food on Yelp. Stephanie's came up in the top of the list. Stephanie's is located on 2507 block of Randleman Rd in Greensboro. Sis and I headed out to pick up some local Grindz.
Stephanie's is located less than 4 miles from the hospital. Convenience is important when you want to get back quickly. We pulled up to the red and white building. The parking lot was completely full. Folks were waiting to get a parking space.
We entered the restaurant. Man, they were playing old school music from back in the day. Lionel Ritchie, Commodores- just good music. The dining area is huge. You have to wait to be seated.
We ordered take out at the counter. She gave us a few minutes to review the menu.
I ordered the Vegetable plate. $12.49. Mom wanted fried okra, Fried Squash and Yams. I wanted the Macaroni and Cheese.
Baby Sis ordered the Pork Chip plate..$13.99. Drinks are separate $3.25. My sweet tea had an after taste. I switched it out for the Grape Kool-aide. It was a head banger 100% Delicious
The menu consists of Comfort Food choices... Meatloaf, Beef Tips, Veggie Plate, Meatball Dinner.
They create a variety of sandwiches. They have a smorgasbord of world famous sides. $4.60 each.
They even have a kids menu to choose from.
Let's talk Food!!! Stephanie's food is right in line with The Shed, Kareem & Woo's and Sweetie Pie's.
Macaroni and Cheese was moist and flavorful. The Yams were like my grandma made them. I didn't taste the Fried Okra/Squah. Momma ate half of each one. I was throughly pleased to see her eat. I didn't eat the cornbread, Baby Sis devoured it with no issues.
The pork chop was perfectly crispy on the outside- Juicy and tender on the inside. All the sides were a WIN.
While waiting for the order, I was able to look at pictures on the wall of famous people who have dined at Stephanie's. It's a real local spot for anyone to come and enjoy a good meal. They offer catering as well as online ordering.
If you're in the Greensboro area, stop by and check out this simple, yet fully satisfying small business eatery!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 13, 20241 check-in
Omg'! I love Stephanie's food. My favorite go to is a vegetable plate. I usually get green beans, squash, fried okra, and cornbread. When I do meat from there I get the fried chicken livers with the gravy on the side or their lemon pepper chicken wings. Customer service is always on point andI love the vibe when we eat in. Everyone seems really happy while eating. You should try them.

Decided to grab some togo on easter since they weren't as busy as i thought they would be ordered over the phone and sent my boyfriend to pick up our food when he returned and i
open my togo box i discovered what was supposed to be a side of baked mac and cheese was just a side of baked noodles w some sprinkled cheese on top , it's so disappointing cause i come here almost every sunday and i would've never expected this from them, being that it was a Sunday when i ordered the food they were closed the next 2 days , so i honestly forgot about it and just let it go but very disappointed in my favorite soul food spot in GSO and probably won't be returningHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Antoine M.Zebulon, NC05Apr 20, 2024Updated review
I thought I'd give them another chance today, so a friend I went definitely wasn't impressed waited 15 minutes for the worst server ever, to get cold porkchops and noodles with melted cheese on them. There's definitely NO soul in the food
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Feb 3, 2024Previous reviewI am not impressed with this restaurant at all. I ordered when they opened to assure my food was fresh and hot, however; it was cold and taste like left overs. I then called the manager who was very nice and assured she would fix it. I went back a second time for them to fix, it was worse!! one star is too high!!

This is a staple in Greensboro. They have some of the best soul food. The candied yams are everything!! The mac and cheese is baked just right. The cabbage was okay - I've had better. The cornbread melts in your mouth. This is the first time I got the wings and they were fried hard. The service was okay; I think she may have been overwhelmed as she didn't check on us as much as other servers in the past. It's always busy, but the wait for our food wasn't bad. Decor wise it's not the most modern place, but the seating is abundant and clean. And who wouldn't like a place called Stephanie's?!! :-)

Stephanie's puts the soul in soul food! Ya'll know what it is ... another 4.5 review. Now I've eaten here many a time over my 26 years since returning to Gboro. I will say hands down the best friend chicken and chicken wings you'll find in the Gate City. My daughter wanted to come here for her bday weekend. Why? For the mac n cheese. Oh, don't trip because her mama makes a mean one! Not only is my child a picky eater but a Mac n cheese snob. So trust if she gives her blessing then it's fiyah!
She got fried chicken wings with double mac and corn bread. The wings arrived fresh out the grease. They do no disappoint. She says the corn bread was crumbly meaning fall apart and hard to pick up. Her mama is old school. I have taken a fork to many a cornbread square.
Bae got fried fish. Was it flounder? I don't remember. By the time I thought to get a piece it was gone gone. I did taste his potato salad, very good. Just a touch too sweet for me BUT I didn't grow up with tater salad on the sweet side.
Me? I decided to be cute and get the rib combo. Usually I get the wings combo. My child got that. Fried pork chop is my back up. Noooooo! I had to be different. I knew it would be too much food. I thought Bae and my daughter would help me eat the ribs. Nope!
Now. About the ribs. Okay. I love some ribs. I hate cooking them but a good rack of ribs is a beautiful thing! These ribs have the look. The sauce was saucing with a little heat. Ribs tender but not quite falling off the bone. Time out. This is not a bad thing. Some schools of barbecuing thought believe true fall off the bone cooking is over cooked meat. You can pull easily out the bones of these ribs. As I said earlier, we had a lot of food on the table. The ribs came home.
Ya'll, I reheated the ribs in the oven. Took a bite. Not a fan. In the restaurant, I had one rib it was good. Keep in mind I was eating fried chicken, fried squash, collards and Mac n cheese at the same time. One their own? Meh. Tender, saucy but no flavor. The meat itself was not seasoned. Sorry not sorry. Not brined. Not salted. Bot marinated. Not caramelized (browning for my country folks). Maybe I got a bad batch? I'll stick with chicken or friend pork chop in the future. I don't know the cooking method used. My tastebuds detected some parboiling. When done we'll it's not a bad cooking method and saves time getting food cooked. I just wish these rbis had been grilled or broiled before the sauce was added. If the meat doesn't taste good on it's own, now sauce will save it.
On this particular visit it was crowded but not overly crowded. Our waitress was attentive enough. Our extra sides were forgotten so we had to wait. We had plenty of napkins. Just average service. Nothing above and beyond. I thought the music was a bit loud but we could talk over it without screaming. The booths are showing their age but not to the point of scratching your legs or snagging your clothes when you sit down.
Pro tip: Yearning for soul food but don't want to dine in? No worries! You can call ahead for pick up.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - 123161Oct 13, 2023
Anytime you want some good soul food, please go to Stephanie's. They are always consistent! The food is always flavorful and delicious!! My husband and I both got the fried chicken white. He ordered Mac-n-cheese, collard greens, and a roll, and I got yams, collards, and cornbread! So good!
