      Updated review

The beer battered halibut and chips was 5 star and I must say it was better than Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria. Very pricey and they charge a take out fee. Disabled parking is pretty much non existent and very awkward. The food gets 5stars but room for improvement with service prices parking and seating

Fantastic restaurant and location. Great fish and chips-nice selection of beer on tap, clean and excellent service. Open now, but was told they will be closing at the end of the year. Don't miss a chance to visit for great food and a nice walk on the beach. Ice cream is pretty fantastic too.

      Panko cod. Excellent

Tucked away in Tacoma is this hidden gem of a fast food seafood joint. Think of it like a lower end Anthony's that's quick, affordable, and still offers gorgeous waterfront views. They mainly focus on fried seafood like fish n chips, fried calamari and oysters, etc... but they also have grilled fish, pasta, and sandwiches if you're not up for fried food. Just order at the counter, pay for your meal, grab a number and they'll bring your order to the table. Prices are fair for quality and the portions, $10-$16 an entree.

Not sure why this place isn't more popular - it has fantastic views of the water along Titlow beach. Plus if you come at the right time and grab a window seat... you can enjoy a nice, affordable sunset dinner. It's near Titlow park and is located past the train tracks and there's a small parking lot for the place - be warned, the lot and restaurant are pretty small so it can get packed during peak times.

So far I have tried the following:

      - Alaska True Cod Fish-n-Chips: Being in the PNW, there are plenty of places that do fish n chips. Most are beer battered tempura, but Steamer's chooses to use panko bread crumbs for the cod fish n chips. It may not be truly authentic to its English roots, but I think it makes an already bland fish taste much better. Not too oily too, so very light and crispy.

      - Clam Linguine: Clam linguine is usually disappointing... but here it's well executed! They're generous on the amount of clams and the pasta itself is a delicious pairing to the clams. I also really like the garlic bread they give with the pasta. Granted both the bread and pasta are a bit oily, but it's olive oil so don't get so uptight about it.

      - Fried Calamari and Tentacles: Legit calamari... and a good portion. Honestly I like eating the fried tentacles more than the ring like calamari pieces. I find them crispy. These are best dipped in malt vinegar instead of tarter sauce to cut back on the saltiness.

      - Fried Oysters: Too many times I've been ripped off of ordering fried oysters at other establishments... not here! They give a good portion of fried oysters and they're actually CRISPY... not the weird soggy-texture you normally get with fried oysters at other places.

      - Captain's Platter: If you love eating a variety of seafood, this is a good deal especially if you plan on sharing with others. It comes with fried shrimp, scallops, clams, and 1 big pc of the Alaskan Cod Fish-n-Chips. At $15 it was a lot of food with good variety, plus it came with fries. Everything was tasty.

The fries that come with all their fried entrees are crispy and go great dipped in malt vinegar. They also let you substitute for a salad - if you're sharing entrees, it's worth subbing for the caesar salad. It's a GOOD caesar salad, big portion with tasty homemade croutons. Otherwise you some platters also come with cole slaw, like the Captain's Platter, which is a nice break from all the fried seafood.

Even if you're not into fried seafood, they offer burgers and grilled fish as well - have yet to try those but they look good from observation. Sometimes they have specials, like the last time I went they were offering a steak and shrimp combo for $16! They offer clam chowder... but I think Ivar's is still the best in WA. Too bad the Tacoma Ivar's doesn't have the same killer view!

I guess the only negative is when it gets really busy... it can be super crowded. They don't have a large dining area and after you order, you may be surveying diners to nab an empty spot or be forced to share a table with another couple. Now if 2 people groups would be considerate and sit at the 2 people tables... I've seen families of four overlooking the dining area to see if they can get a table after they've ordered. Luckily with the fast food concept, people are in and out pretty quickly.

If you ever find yourself on this side of the Sound, this is a great spot for quick n easy seafood! Plus you can enjoy a nice walk along Titlow Beach / Park.

Great fish and chips, average clam chowder. Kind of pricy, but still good. I had the Panko crusted cod and chips and found it to be really tasty. The fries with it were good and the coleslaw was tasty too. However, the clam chowder was very okay. It was a little bland and watery in my opinion but it did come out piping hot which was nice.

I'd only get the fish and chips next time and go to Ivar's for clam chowder.

Start by saying the clam chowder was cold and no flavor. Then they screwed up my children's kids meal. Then when I brought BACK the meal to let them know of mistake the gentleman named Brian acted as
If it was an issue that I created, and was very short with me. As I watched his customer service with others I noticed he was very short and abrasive to talk with customers and quit rude to his employees. The women working at the window was very sweet.

My first trip to Steamers was in 2002, and not a whole lot has changed since then. It's one of the things I like best about this place.

Staring into the dark chasm that is 2020 and watching local businesses close up shop is one of the most depressing things ever, so it's with a heavy heart and some very wet eyes that I vehemently recommend you head down to Steamers before the close at the end of the year, get some great fried food, and maybe do a walk along the water.

And don't forget your camera, the view of the bridges is GREAT while you're asking yourself, "can we order another basket of fries?"

Great staff! I accidentally ordered the wrong thing (and they quickly fixed it to what I wanted). Food was great, I'm really picky with clam chowder(nobody beats Monterey, California's) but this one was good for having bacon in it. Small menu but a great place to stop and look around, near a small pier and park. Definitely will be returning!

First time I've eaten here and who doesn't like fish and chips? Cute little place down by the water with a great view of the Narrows Bridge. The menu was rather limited as I was here during the Coronavirus but no matter, I was happy enough to get fish and chips. Bought the two piece that came with fries and coleslaw. The breading on the fresh was nice and crunchy due to the panko. That said, if you looked add a piece of fish after taking a bite off, there was a big separation between the crust and the piece of fish, letting me know that perhaps it had been frozen. I know the business was limited do to carry out service only. Nonetheless the fish was hot and crunchy, even though I had to wait for a 98 car train to pass on the tracks. French fries were okay but rather limp. Coleslaw was bland at best. In my estimation it could have used a little bit more vinegar or some kind of kick. Strangest cocktail sauce I ever had. Tasted more like salsa and I couldn't taste one iota of horseradish. The guy working the counter was kind enough to let me try the clam chowder. Though I thought the taste was awesome, it should be renamed potato chowder. Hardly any clams to be seen which was extremely disappointing. I would say go to try it once because I'm sure with a full menu there's many more things that would be a better choice.

First time here the only reason for 4 stars is the staff! Super friendly and engaging they really get 5 stars ! Food is nothing to right home about. We Came on Monday for .79 shrimp. The hubs got the po boy shrimp special he liked it. My shrimp were good I got beer battered and coconut. They were average size I also ordered a side of onion rings. They actually give you more then I was expecting I couldn't even finish they were a bit on the oily side. They have a few beers on tap that go well with the food. Location is great it's an older place reminds me of the places in Seattle down on the pier. Definitely won't be a destination all the time but with how friendly the staff is I will come back!

Shrimp: beer battered, Coconut Prawns and grilled prawns. Onion rings and the hubs. Sandwich special.
