Our breakfast is amazing. From our omelets to our crepes, everything is prepared fresh and nothing is frozen and put in a microwave. Our produce is from local markets and our steaks our hand cut along with our fresh from the coast salmon. For lunch, our sandwiches and salads are constantly complimented for being the best people have tasted and our soups are fresh daily. Our daily specials also give a great reason to come in every day to try something you have never had before and how much we care is showed in every detail. Even our bathrooms we are proud to showcase.

Anyone know what happened or if they're coming back? Drove all the way there craving shrimp & grits only to find out the place has closed down. How sad!

I gave this place another shot this weekend. I ordered two eggs, scrambled, bacon, rye toast, and fried potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the potatoes were delicious! The bacon wasn't quite right... it may have been cooked earlier in the morning, but something was a little off. The bacon is the only reason I am not giving 5 stars. My plate came out in less than 10 minutes.
The main reason I am writing an update? The service! I had the best service that I have had at any local restaurant in quite some time! It was so good, I actually felt compelled to find the manager and tell him that my server was excellent. I really appreciated her attentiveness.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 6, 2014Previous reviewI went in for breakfast on Sunday morning... and of course, they were slammed. I waited about 15 mins to be seated. Not bad.
The waiter was friendly and attentive. I ordered a dish that came with two eggs, two pieces of bacon, and two slices of French Toast. I also ordered a side of fried potatoes.. just because I really wanted to try them. About 10 minutes after I ordered, the waiter asked me how I wanted my eggs cooked... so I knew it was going to be slow. I probably waited 25+ minutes for my food, and I was by myself.
When the food came out, the eggs were at room temperature, and the French Toast was barely warm enough to melt the butter. The outside of the fried potatoes were at room temp, but the inside was warm. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to wait any longer to eat. I was hungry!
The food itself was decent. I really liked the French Toast... eggs are pretty hard to mess up, and the bacon was crispy. The potatoes were "okay." I think they were overdone..... and they gave me a massive amount of them. I would have been happy if they gave me half as much at half the price (around $3 for the potatoes when ordered separately).
This place was busy.... so they are obviously doing something right. But there are too many other options in the area for me to spend $14 (+ tip) on a room temperature breakfast. I can go to cracker barrel for half the price, and the food is hot.
I hope that the kinks can be worked out, as I think the place has a lot of potential. It's just too expensive for what you get. - Linett R.Greenville, SC615466Feb 7, 2018
Boy oh boy, where do I start?! I was driving down Woodruff Road when I saw their sign says "Best Shrimp & Grits in town", so i said hmmm let's see about that. I walked in to a fairly empty restaurant, however, it was only 10am on a Wednesday, and I prefer a quieter environment. I was seated immediately, and ordered the Shrimp & Grits. Much to my surprise, my server came out with grit cakes topped with seasoned shrimp, and a sauce. I took a bite, and Good Lord was that sign right!!! Seriously the BEST shrimp & grits I've had in the area, this blew Bacon Bro's grits out of the water!!! My server was so sweet and kept the drinks coming the entire time, she even gave me a little history lesson about the restaurant which I really appreciated because I remember this location being many different things before. I can't wait to go back and try more items off the menu.

I had high expectations, and they were not filled. Nothing overly interesting or special that would set this restaurant apart from any others.
Food was priced accordingly, the service was acceptable and the food was ordinary. The only thing that set this place apart was their hash.
Outside of the hash, everything else was ordinary.
Middle of the road average to a weak average --- 3 stars at best. I would not write this restaurant off, but It will not make my favorites list.
There are alternatives....Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Naomi B.McComb, MS176182Sep 18, 2016
My partner took me a lunch for my birthday. I had country fried steak, mac n cheese, garlic mashed potato and cornbread. That was so good especially I did not eat a garlic mashed potato all, it was ok.
Sweet tea was ok.
Very expensive. Sweet tea cost $5, wow.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brooks H.Anderson, SC06519Jan 9, 2018
Decided to give the Epicurean restaurant I try after listening to Mike Gallagher talk about it on the radio. Was very impressed with the country fried steak and sides. Much tastier than the typical meat and three establishments. Look forward to returning to try some of their other delicious looking offerings.

My husband and I ate here for breakfast this past weekend and it did not disappoint. Service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. They were busy but we were seated right away and didn't wait long for our food. I had the Carolina Benedict which is a biscuit with country ham and poached eggs and topped with sausage gravy. It was excellent!
The decor is a bit dated and could use a remodel. This is a perfect place for breakfast anytime of the day!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Thomas H.Charleston, SC55427Aug 6, 2017
I've driven by here a million times, but it never stirred my curiosity. Some family members wanted to eat here, so be it.
The staff was friendly and polite. We had a few kids in our large party and they gladly let us have the back room.
Our server, Cheri, was brilliant! She is a fantastic server with a wonderful personality. She was great with our kids and left us wanting for nothing.
The food was excellent enough to make me regret not having come here before. I'm not a grits fan, but their fried grits cakes were really good! I had the Georgie Special, which featured bacon and sausage stuffed pancakes. They were Excellent! Their pancake batter is really good too. They have a good selection of breakfast, sandwiches, and dinner (meat and three) selections.
The prices are a little higher than a Denny's or IHOP, but the service and food are so much better. Like those places, breakfast is available any time they are open. Plus, this is a family owned restaurant. This place is on my "come again" list!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robin W.Greenville, SC30114125Jul 24, 2016
Stopped in today for breakfast. The place was full but not packed, so we were seated promptly. The decor is diner pleasant but lacking any personality at all- feels like a myrtle beach breakfast hole; but was clean. Server was prompt in taking our orders.
Our food came out in a reasonable time. The eggs were alright, the pancakes were terrible; tasted like buckwheat pancakes and looked like them too- thin, dark, crusty uneven edges, no light and airy here! We ask to have the syrup heated 2 times; both times it came back warmer but not hot as requested. Their prices are over the top for the quality of their food. $28 and change for coffee (1), cranberry juice (1), ham & egg breakfast sandwich with no grits, fruit, nothing as a side (1), 2 egg breakfast with 2 pancakes with no meat (1).
The two stars are for adequate pleasant service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Omar D.Fort Lauderdale, FL724411May 18, 2017
Nice little dinner conviniently located with standard dinner type of service
Great tasting biscuits and gravyHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Josh B.Bradenton, FL7567Aug 5, 2012
The prices are spectacular. Its as if inflation never came to Stax's. Omelettes are still $5-$7 and come with grits and biscuit. Service was excellent for us in our 1st visit. Attentive and offered recommendations including steering me to a less expensive item. The biscuits are very good and most are less than $2 including the chicken and steak biscuit which I got and enjoyed. The steak biscuit is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have had in quite some time.
Definitely a place we will visit again. It is not fast food and will take about 20 minutes for food to come out. For the price and food it's worth the wait.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
