Service was a solid meh. Only tried a couple lattes. They got the drinks wrong and took a long time to get them out but that's understandable because they were so busy.

The Stanza Breakfast Sandwich is pretty good. It had a nice amount of ingredients and fresh, crunchy bacon. It's a good size for a breakfast sandwich, but could benefit from a better bun rather than a hamburger bun. I didn't see an option to customize this, but I think it would taste better on a Bagel, English muffin or croissant. This would make me more likely to order it again, as well as make the sandwich feel more premium for the price. Overall good experience and service here though!

Stanza Coffee Bar is a solid spot located in the heart of Haight-Ashbury, providing a pleasant, up-beat ambiance with good coffee and friendly staff. Although its a small shop, it generally has a table or seat open if you want stay inside and enjoy your drink while reading, chatting with a friend, or getting work done.
It's not fancy and I like that, especially if you're looking for a study or work spot. Service is also quick, so you can get coffee on the go and explore the neighboring shops.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tim W.San Francisco, CA8712620Dec 14, 2022Updated review
Very disappointing. Covid killed the vibe of this place.
The best thing about Stanza was sitting in the window, drinking their excellent coffee, watching the passersby, while getting a little work done on the computer. Second best was sitting at their marble counter and getting serious work done while getting served cap after cap after cap.
Post Covid, they close very early, and they have no more wifi, so you can't get your work done. Very bad.
The marble counter is covered with boxes and other stuff so there's no sitting down there. Very bad use of space. They should take a cue from Art's Cafe at 9th and Irving on fitting a whole kitchen into a long narrow counter.
Their coffee is still good, but who cares?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 15, 2021Previous reviewOh, Stanza. What happened to you? Before COVID, you were the best place to drink coffee and read, drink coffee and do a little work, drink coffee and watch Haight Street passersby. And if you had work to do, the long marble seating bar accommodated so many and it really was the perfect place to do a little writing - right in front of the coffee, not much of a view to distract, just drink and peck at the keyboard. And the baristas! Clever and cute and into good music sometimes.
All that's gone, now. The wonderful long marble bar is piled with big boxes of cups and napkins and other food-service storage. The only seating is in the front, four oddly-spaced tables with *exceedingly uncomfortable* metal chairs (like, these hurt my butt so bad I limped after sitting in one for half an hour). The people watching is still possible, but who can enjoy it when your rear end is shooting out cartoon lightning bolts of pain?
The baristas are gone. All fired, none rehired. That hurts.
And there's a smell to the place now. It's a combination of industrial solvent, degreaser, grease, burning grease, smoke, burning coffee, and a whiff of desperation. I guess I'm glad to be sitting by the door.
And there's this loud buzz. It was there the whole 45 minutes I was there today. It's super loud. It's like Stanza has it's own tinnitus which the customers suffer when they're here for long.
You get one star back for the outside seating. That's cool. And those chairs outside are comfy, strangely enough. And the service is still friendly.
And I don't mind that you got rid of the bathroom. That was always a war crime of stink and filth.
Stanza, I'm glad you survived the plague that killed off so many businesses, but, in a way, I feel like you didn't survive. I feel like you're gone forever. It makes me sad.Jul 23, 2017Previous reviewUsually perfect.
Occasional loud music problem, but not enough to complain about.
Here, in this little coffeehouse on Haight, I have often had the friendliest service I've had since living in the city.Jun 11, 2017Previous reviewThe music situation has improved. The last few times I've been here the music has been low and such nice things like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and Etta James.
The seating has VASTLY improved. They've chucked those awful wine-barrel tables in favor of two street-facing tables that people can sit at facing the street. They can seat four people side-by-side (or two average Americans, like me). The other tables are also standard, better. More comfortable seats, too.
The long counter is still the same. The service is still the same (five stars).
Good job on the changes.Nov 25, 2014Previous reviewI've been here about fifty times, so time for a review.
The service is super, super friendly and if they're not busy and you're at the bar, they will bring your order to you so you don't have to get out of your seat. I come back to Stanza in particular because the service is so friendly and fast and non-douchey.
My one gripe with the place is the music volume. When I go to Stanza, I bring earplugs with me. Maybe I'm getting old, but I think if you have to wear earplugs, then it's too loud. When I'm here, I see almost every patron wearing earbuds or noise-cancelling headphones, so why is there *any* music?
Everything else is good or great, but the music volume is such bummer that I've stopped going. I'm hoping to get a pair of those $300 active-noise-cancelling headphones for my birthday so I can visit again when the kids are rocking out. - Cindy D.Belvedere Tiburon, CA10510May 12, 2023
Best breakfast burritos in haight ashbury and Cole valley hands down. Go to spot every morning.

Great coffee with great food (especially breakfast). Unpretentious place. The staff here is friendly and always a pleasure to talk to. Same owners as Vinyl on Oak (which shut down during the pandemic). Give them a try.

$$$1.50$$$$ for oat milk??? They should be ashamed of themselves. WTF. If you don't want liquid from a cow nipple you get penalized to the fullest. Good chai though;)

The coffee was just ok, an odd astringency in my latte this morning. Unfortunately they no longer offer wifi so it's not a good place to sit and work anymore. Doubt I'll be returning again given both these factors.

Waited over an hour for a breakfast burrito and a smoothie. Absolutely ridiculous, they should have told us when we ordered that the wait time for a simple order would be equally as long as a sit down restaurant. I will never be coming back here again.
