A truly fabulous event. Seated and kept cool by the overhang. Section D in the house
The real excitement is in the professionalism and the attention to detail. Everyone is dressed in a matching outfit. Staff is super friendly and helpful all around the stadium and the outside venues. No doubt they love America in St Paul and they love the military service branches. If that offends you. This event is not for you.
So many different events and always moving on the inside. Plenty of different events and different competitive categories.
Loved the outside venues. A real variety of food programs and vendors really went all out to provide something for everyone. The history of the rodeo tent was educational and exciting just to see the evolution. So many people that are legends in the sport. What an honor to learn all about them and their accomplishments in and outside of Rodeo.
A real family pleaser for sure remember sun screen Drink lots of water. It's a long day that keeps you entertained.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 8, 2023
This is the real deal! This rodeo has all the events that make a big rodeo. There was nonstop action (no breaks/intermissions) from 7:30pm till almost 10:30 when the fireworks ended. They have fireworks after every show-not just on the 4th.
It's been awhile since I've been to a rodeo. I used to hate the derogatory jokes the clown & announcer made against women, but that's all gone now, thankfully.
There is lots of food to choose from on the ground. I had a "donut corn dog" with maple and bacon! Wow! So good! Also shared a wood fired grilled cheese with my husband. We also saw BBQ, (long lines), Mexican, Hawaiian, fresh made donuts, kettle corn, funnel cakes, elephant ears...all the goodies you would expect.
Parking is expensive and tricky. We never saw an actual lot for the rodeo grounds. People charge from $10-20 to park on their property in the neighborhoods. We had to walk a ways but found a space for $10.
The other thing to know is that a lot of the grandstands face west so you get about an hour of sun in your eyes if you choose the A, B & C sections. If that's your only choice bring a hat with a brim & sunglasses! The sun did go down and the rest of the show was great!
If you're a fan of rodeos, you'll love this one!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rita J.Milwaukie, OR4882291027Jul 8, 2021
My husband and I went here last Friday night and it was amazing!! Felt so good to be at a fair again. We had tickets to the rodeo and then went on a bunch of rides To end the evening. It felt like a movie! All the lights, smells, butterflies from the rollercoasters.. can't wait to be back!

This was a good time with the family. Good fatty food and entertainment from the rodeo announcer. Trying to leave after was a nightmare. We sat in the parking lot trying to get out for 40 minutes. Park close to the main road if possible.

I love the St Paul Rodeo, I have gone for several years in a row. There are plenty of food vendors to feed the masses, but be sure to bring cash. I have a fabulous Dutchboy elephant ear every year. Buy tickets over the phone and ask to have the sun behind you, the direct sun can be really harsh. Try coming in on 99 to avoid I5 traffic.
The show is long, about 3 hours. The announcers are consistently good. I am not a parent but there are always lots of kids there, as young as infants, so it is super family friendly. Each show ends with fireworks.
If you are of age head into The Tack Room after the show, even if the lines look long it goes quick.
Ultimately a rodeo ticket costs the same as a movie, so head town to St Paul and enjoy an American gradation.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Melissa H.Salem, OR3166159Jul 6, 2018
This was our first time at the rodeo, the parking situation was kind of chaotic. Once we got parked ( we got a great spot) we had alot of fun. We watched the rodeo, the announcer & the rodeo clown were really funny. We got some food !!! My baby got to ride on her first carousel !!! We will definitely be back next year.

Always a good time. The rodeo clown is getting old and annoying but the announcing and talent stays great. The Tack Room is too fun and sadly is the MOST fun during the actual rodeo. I hope they continue adding more unique fair food options. Parking is EASY. Just find someone selling $5 spots and you can get close to the entrance!

I thank my friends who live in Silverton for introducing me to the St Paul Rodeo. I am not a rodeo expert. It was certainly not part of my childhood, here is the closest I've lived to any rodeo. I have never been to the Pendleton Roundup.
The St Paul Rodeo is a Mexican rodeo. Many of the contestants and the crowd are from Mexico and Central America. There is a carnival midway with carny food and families dressed up for Sunday. A crafts and community organization tent. Fireworks. You can wander the pens with all the animals. There is only a charge for the rodeo show itself, otherwise free to wander. There is a full schedule of events.
Show tickets aren't cheap, they sell out in advance and most of the seats are reserved. I am not a big supporter of what goes on at rodeos with animals, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and authenticity of the event. It's good Oregon summer fun!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick W.Portland, OR0276Jul 8, 2018
This is my second year going. Great place to spend the 4th of July week. Only thing I would change is the food. The BBQ that they have is a let down, which sucks because its a rodeo. They only have ribs, tri tip, and chicken and most places sell one or the other. Rarely both. They sell the meat temps at well done so its very dry.

By far my favorite place to go on the Fourth of July. Not only is the rodeo itself entertaining, the people, the music, and the atmosphere really make you feel like you know the people around you and that you are all there to celebrate America. It really is an awesome feeling. The announcer and the people in the arena are really entertaining and the cowboys/cowgirls are just so skilled and professional its an amazing sight to watch. Obviously you are at a fair/rodeo so food is pretty expensive, and they only take cash but there are ATM's everywhere so its easy to take out money. Also, look into the seating and be mindful of where the sun is going to set. about 75% of the arena is blinded and cooked by the sun until it sets, and the other 25% (the people who have been there before) are in the nice and cool shade. I forget which section this is I think it is F or something like that. But for sure look into that. Overall its just an awesome experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a fun night!
