Highly recommend Squaw Peak Animal Hospital. I had a referral from a friend to Squaw Peak. They are the best! The office is well run by the friendly front desk, clean, and the vet care is outstanding. My Aussie had a spay. The incision was small, and so well done. She rested comfortably with medicine and by the fourth day she was looking well again. The office followed up to be sure she was doing fine. Beside great care there was no additional upselling. I drive an hour to get to this office and it is well worth the effort for good care.

This is the absolute worst support staff. They have no empathy, are not courteous, and could not explain why our dog was given the complete wrong medication. DO NOT take your pets here.
if there was a zero rating, that is what I would give.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - sue b.Phoenix, AZ03Feb 16, 2024
Please stay away from this clinic. They killed my dog and after I found out the same thing happened to 3 other people I knew. I filed a complaint with the AZ board of vets and they found the owner and another doctor who treated my baby guilty of bad practice. He was only given a small fine and had to take some classes. This was more than 10 years ago and after all the complaints filed they are still in business.

Don't go here!! So overpriced !!
We used to go but switched. They also have a poof system to notify when vaccines are due so we didn't realize our dog was due for all her shots until we tried to get her groomed. We found another vet to get all her shots for much cheaper but they were booked out for a while.
When I called last week to ask about getting her rabies they had tons of appointments to pick from. I called back today to try and get the rabies but after informing them we had switched vets they were all of a sudden booked out for over a month. Weird.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 2, 2019Previous reviewTook our dogs here for their annual checkups and we were very satisfied! If you have more than one dog and have their appointments at the same time, they only charge for one exam, not two!
The vet was great and she also was realistic about what vaccines were needed and which were not. I always appreciate when vets do not try and push unnecessary vaccines to make sales.

*DON'T GO HERE* Dr. Nimitz barely let me talk when I brought my cat in. It was as if she was saying one extremely long sentence. Half a grand later and I get a couple prescriptions and bloodwork. I wanted my cat's nails clipped but they wouldn't do it in the room - instead in the back. They come back and say he didn't let them clip his nails. What do I do? His nails are getting caught on everything. Dr. Nimitz was condescending in her response via email when I asked if there was a different kind of prescription wet food my cat can have since he can't have treats for 3 months. She responds with "He doesn't NEED treats AKA candy." I was so confused because that's not what I was asking. There's a lot more but essentially, there are SO many other vets out there but this isn't the place to go.

My St Bernard needed a semen collection for a breeding in Tacoma Washington. Timing to this is critical.
My regular vet was not available to do the collection.
I called several clinics and either no one answered or they did not do collections.
I called Squaw Peak, they answered the phone and when I told them what I needed they fit me in that morning.
They took my dog in at the appointment time and completed the process of collection, analysis and preparation for shipment in less than 30 minutes.
They saved my day. I will very likely use them for his future collections.
Thank you Squaw Peak!!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jamie L.Phoenix, AZ01Aug 12, 2023

I want to be as fair as possible to an animal hospital that still insists on having a racist name, even though the State of Arizona renamed Sq*** Peak to Piestewa Peak after a soldier who died in combat over a decade ago, and even though the Arizona Senate (yes, this Arizona Senate) voted 26-3 literally this week to abolish all government landmarks that contain that derogatory word in it.
There is a female veterinarian here who is absolutely wonderful. You can immediately tell from the way she handles dogs to the way she talks about them that she really does care about our little creatures. Unfortunately the hospital hasn't put her name up on the website so I can't give her a shout-out by name, but she is there. I also see a lot of complaints about the staff. I find this to be pretty odd too. We've been taking our dogs to S.P.A.H. for a few years now and the staff have always been really friendly and helpful.
Why two stars? The racist name. It would be one star if it weren't for the wonderful vet and friendly staff. Evolve with the times, owner of S.P.A.H.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
